Abstract

It is necessary for electronic transformer to make calibration before putting it into practice. To solve the problems in actual calibration process, a novel electronic transformer calibrator is designed. In principle, this system adopts both the direct method and the difference method, which are two popular methods for electronic transformer calibration, by this way the application of the system is extended with its reliability improved. In the system design, based on virtual instrument technology, LabVIEW and WinPCap toolkit are used to develop the application software, and it is able to calibrate those electronic transformers following the standard of IEC 61850. In the calculation of ratio and phase error based on fast Fourier transform, a new window function is introduced, and thus the accuracy of calibration, influenced by the frequency vibration, is improved. This research provides theoretic support and practical reference to the development of intelligent calibrator for electronic transformers. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2322

Abstract

The power quality of a low voltage distributed network is vulnerable to the plunge of a large number of distributed power sources, which could be at serious risk due to high circulating current. In order to overcome this problem, this paper proposes an active power-magnitude and reactive power-frequency droop control scheme for distributed voltage source inverters without a communication line. A novel dynamic virtual resistance control solution is demonstrated to minimize dynamic circulating current based on satisfied output voltage accuracy and stability. Differential and integral terms are added to the droop formulas to enhance the dynamic performance of the inverter and improve the stability for voltage magnitude and frequency. MATLAB simulations show that stable output voltage and small circulating current can be achieved in both grid connected mode and islanding mode by using the proposed scheme. This result is further verified by an experimental testing with two parallel voltage source inverters. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2177

Abstract

Mining operations at Nanyang-Slope Coal Mine are considerably challenging. The Nanyang- Slope Coal Field has a complex tectonic structure; having major faults, large fissures and fracture- zones, and great changes in coal-seam thickness. Mine tunnel-way 301 traverses multiple complex faults with developed fractures, broken surrounding rock, and high tectonic stresses. The original rectangular-section tunnel design using anchor-bolt-mesh retainment was prone to rib-spalling, and the problem could not be controlled by use of additional encryption anchors on the tunnel sides. The mud-rock above the tunnel-ceiling is soft and argillized, which expands and softens on contact with water. This caused problems with the epoxy bonding agent failing to effectively secure bolt-anchors to the rock, resulting in anchor-bolt-mesh failure. In consideration of the complex geological conditions, a tunnel construction utilizing a curved wall arch-section and anchor-bolt- mesh-concrete spray was proposed. MJ-40 anchor-rod dynamometers were used to measure the forces in the tunnel rock-anchor bolts; and tunnel-rock deformation and surface displacement was monitored over the course of several weeks using a measuring station. Results show that the construction design effectively lowers the effects of the tectonic stresses on any one part of the tunnel, and demonstrates the safety and reliability of the tunnel-retainment and support design. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2302

Abstract

Bluetooth is a short-range wireless technology that operates in the 2.4GHz unlicensed ISM band, so it will inevitably encounter the interference from other wireless systems and other Bluetooth piconets. Because of the flexible, efficient and reliable spectrum access by adapting the radio’s operating characteristics to the real-time conditions of the environment, cognitive radio technology is apply in Bluetooth network. In this paper, a novel cognitive FH channel selection method which is built based on link quality detection is proposed, interference temperature judgments model is analyzed and cognitive processing cycle of channel access is discussed. The simulation results indicated that cognitive FH Bluetooth network is more anti-interference than conventional Bluetooth systems. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2317

Abstract

Kalman filter (KF) uses measurement updates to correct system states error and to limit the errors in navigation solutions. However, only when the system dynamic and measurement models are correctly defined, and the noise statistics for the process are completely known, KF can optimally estimate a system’s states. Without measurement updates, Kalman filter’s prediction diverges; therefore the performance of an integrated GPS/INS navigation system may degrade rapidly when GPS signals are unavailable. This paper presents a neural network (NN) aided Kalman filtering method to improve navigation solutions of integrated GPS/INS navigation system. In the proposed loosely coupled GPS/INS navigation system, extended KF (EKF) estimates the INS measurement errors, plus position, velocity and attitude errors, and provides precise navigation solutions while GPS signals are available. At the same time, multi-layer NN is trained to map the vehicle manoeuvre with INS prediction errors during each GPS epoch, which is the input of the EKF. During GPS signal blockages, the NN can be used to predict the INS errors for EKF measurement updates, and in this way to improve navigation solutions. The principle of this hybrid method and the NN design are presented. Land vehicle based field test data are processed to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2189

Abstract

It has been proven that the noise-tuning-based hysteretic noisy chaotic neural network (NHNCNN) can use the noise tuning factor to improve the optimization performance obviously at lower initial noise levels while can not at initial higher noise levels. In order to improve the optimization performance of the NHNCNN at initial higher noise levels, we introduce a new noise tuning factor into the activation function and propose an improved hysteretic noisy chaotic neural network (IHNCNN) model. By regulating the value of the newly introduced noise tuning factor, both noise levels of the activation function and hysteretic dynamics in the IHNCNN can be adjusted to help to improve the global optimization ability as the initial noise amplitude is higher. As a result, the IHNCNN can exhibit better optimization performance at initial higher noise levels. In order to demonstrate the advantage of the IHNCNN over the NHNCNN, the IHNCNN combined with gradual expansion scheme (GES) is applied to solve broadcast scheduling problem (BSP) in wireless multihop networks (WMNs). The aim of BSP is to design an optimal time-division multiple-access (TDMA) frame structure with minimal frame length and maximal channel utilization. Simulation results in BSP show the superiority of the IHNCNN. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2231

Abstract

With the release of the standard, digital television terrestrial broadcasting is being gradually extended in many places. In order to speed up the extension and the application, also to evaluate the existing digital television terrestrial   broadcasting  system, we need a easy-to-use signal  analysis  and measurement  system. The traditional signal measurement method is through the special hardware circuit to realize, but that method is high cost, and the system structure is complex and single function. To improve the flexibility of the system , we realize the system based on virtual instrument technology. In hardware section, this thesis described the block diagram of the system and the introduction of the NI vector signal analyzer. In software part, this thesis described the overall test system based on LabVIEW and the realization of the system features multi-threading, each step of synchronization signals achieved. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2308
