Abstract

A novel vehicle stability control method integrated direct yaw moment control (DYC) with active front steering (AFS) is presented in this paper. By the phase plane of sideslip angle and sideslip angular velocity, vehicle stable region is determined. When the vehicle is outside the stable region, DYC controller is firstly used to produce proper direct yaw moment, which can make the vehicle back to the stable region. Then AFS controller of sliding mode variable structure is constructed and used to control the front steering angle of the actual vehicle, so that the sideslip angle and yaw rate of the actual vehicle model can track those of the reference vehicle model. Computer simulations are carried out on a 2-DOF nonlinear vehicle model to investigate the effectiveness of the proposed method. And the simulation results show that the influence of the proposed method on enhancing vehicle stability is significant. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2609

Abstract

There have been numerous studies done on the guidelines of user interface, but only a number of them have considered specific guidelines for the design of children’s interface. This paper is about a research on the specific guidelines for children, focusing on the criteria of graphic design. The objective of this research is to study on the guidelines of user interface design and to develop specific guidelines on children’s graphic design. The criteria of graphic design are the priority of this research since previous research have proven that graphic design is the main factor which contributes to the problem of usability of web application interfaces, in terms of the overall graphic layout not being in a hierarchical order, not taken into concern the availability of space, inappropriate margin, improper type and font size selection, and less concentration on the use of the colours. The research methodology makes use of the comparison of and the coordination to the guidelines on children’s interface and the specific guidelines on the graphic design of web application interfaces. The contribution of this research is the guidelines on the design of web application graphics which are specifically for children. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2658

Abstract

Parameter choice is crucial to regularization-based image deblurring. In this paper, a Monte Carlo method is used to approximate the optimal regularization parameter in the sense of Stein’s unbiased risk estimate (SURE) which has been applied to image deblurring. The proposed algorithm is suitable for the exact deblurring functions as well as those of not being expressed analytically. We justify our claims by presenting experimental results for SURE-based optimization with two different regularization algorithms of Tikhonov and total variation regularization. Experiment results show the validity of the proposed algorithm, which has similar performance with the minimum MSE. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2675

Abstract

The self-excited vibration of blooming mill is a kind of torsional vibration, which occurs only when the rolling machine slips under appropriate conditions. Once in place, this may cause the larger peak pressure of each component in the main drive system; reduce the service life of the components, cause components′ damage directly. A large number of studies have shown that, at present there are not effective methods for diagnosis, monitoring of slipping and take proper measures in time to stop slipping so as to avoid the occurrence of malignant accidents. In this paper, author set out from another angle, take the main drive system of rolling mill as an example, to study stability of self-excited vibration. The conditions of the stable vibration are gained. By combining with the actual working conditions of blooming mill, author has put forward some effective measures to meet the stable conditions in order to make the blooming mill work in the stable state. Practice research has proved that the effective measures can contribute to reduce structural damage directly caused by the torsional vibration when “slipping” phenomenon occurred and to extend the service life of the components. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2699

Abstract

In the procedure of polyvinyl alcohol production, it is hardly accurate measuring the Vinyl Acetate (VAC) polymerization rate. To solve this awkward situation, this paper adopt Genetic Algorithm-Back Propagation (GA-BP) Neural Network to fit the nonlinear relation of the variables which derives from the production process by setting the VAC polymerization rate as the master variable and the initiator addition ratio, methanol ratio, polymerization temperature and VAC activity degree as auxiliary variables. Establish VAC polymerization rate soft-sensing model based on GA-BP network which the connection weights optimized by genetic algorithm. The comparison results with BP network based on the actual measured data show that the model this paper constructed is accurate and effective. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2724

Abstract

Deinked pulp flotation column has been applied in wastepaper recycling. Bubble size in deinked pulp flotation column is very important during the flotation process. In this paper, bubble images of deinked pulp flotation column were first caught by digital camera, and then the bubbles were detected by using a detection algorithm based on sparse and redundant image processing. The results show the algorithms are very practical and effective on bubble detection in deinked pulp flotation column. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2604

Abstract

OpenGL based NC machining real time simulation model is proposed in the paper, and some key techniques of the system are investigated, including input and compiling of NC program, building of display model, real time displaying procedure of machining. With this technique, operator can view the machining process at screen of CNC machining real time, without stopping machine tool, which is very convenient for operating of machining. At last of the paper, an example of CNC cams grinding machine tool is given in order to proving the algorithm. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2644

Abstract

In order to improve the efficiency of wind energy, it is necessary to maximum power point tracking(MPPT). Aiming at shortage of the traditional particle swarm optimization algorithm for parameter sensitivity, easily local convergence, particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm with variable neighborhood based on saving preponderant velocities is proposed. Firstly, a compact formula for updating particles is researched, which is considering cognitive discipline of individual on its environment; secondly, a mutation operator with a small probability on the velocities which improve particle quality and a random vector generated for the rest velocities are proposed in order to make full use of good information of particle velocities; finally, the method is applied to maximum power point tracking control of the wind power generation system. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve maximum power capture of wind power generation system, improve the dynamic response and efficiency compared with the traditional PSO algorithm. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2670

Abstract

Permanent magnetic synchronous motor (PMSM) is a strong coupling and non-linear system. In the PMSM speed-regulation system, PID controller is the conventional one, it is difficult to decide the parameters of PID. Moreover, the performance of PID controller is not very well in large disturbance. In the paper, the Active Disturbance Rejection Controller (ADRC) is applied to the PMSM speed-regulation system. The result of simulations and experiments show that this algorithm has better anti-load-disturbance performance than PID controller. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2720
