Abstract

To investigate the detection of watermelon seeds exterior quality, a machine vision system based on least square support vector machine was developed. Appearance characteristics of watermelon seeds included area, perimeter, roughness, minimum enclosing rectangle and solidity were calculated by image analysis after image preprocess. The broken seeds, normal seeds and high-quality seeds were distinguished by least square support vector machine optimized by genetic algorithm. Compared to the grid search algorithm, the classification results of watermelon seeds exterior quality achieved by genetic algorithm were analyzed in detail. Meanwhile machine vision grid laser was applied to detect the surface irregularities defects of watermelon seeds. This study demonstrated the feasible of detecting the watermelon seeds exterior quality by machine vision. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2605

Abstract

Social integrity deficiency has become the main obstacle and prominent bottleneck to the construction of a harmonious society. Under this serious circumstance, paying attention to the problem and finding a solution has become an important issue we are faced with contemporarily. Former studies by some scholars have mainly centered on the basis of regime and education and some conclusions have been made. This paper, from the perspective of Multi-agent system, analyses the behavioral mode of the social integrity system and describes the process of emergence from the micro level to the macro one. Based on the Multi-agent system stimulus-response principle, it constructs the basic behavioral mode of social integrity; based on the adaptive-learning theory, it constructs the whole behavioral mode; and based on the evolution of agent, it constructs the level-emerge mode, which will provide a new point of view for the research of the social integrity system. According to this, some resolutions can be achieved to the issue mentioned above, which builds scientific reasonable policy basis and gives theoretical guidance for the central and local government in solving the widespread lack of social integrity. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2645

Abstract

In the monitoring of campus public opinions, hot words often reflect the latest burst hot topics within a certain period of time. Therefore, this paper takes in-depth research for bursty hot words detection. In the process of words weight calculation, we consider not only traditional features such as TF, IDF, but also the burstiness, part of speech, length, location in text and other factors. Consequently, the measurement formula of burstiness and the weight calculating formula based on symphysic multi-features are proposed. The weight calculating formula can identify the bursty hot-words quickly and accurately, and then discover the bursty events, finally realizing the early warning of campus public opinions effectively. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2671

Abstract

The main form of machine’s working principle is rotation. The mechanical properties of rotating component is significant importance to improve the machine’s reliability. In the measurement, the difficult thing is to transmit signals form sensors on a rotor to a stationary part . In this paper, using the FBG’s(Fibre Bragg Gauge)  properties of wireless transmission, author measure the local strains of rotating cantilever beam cantilever by utilizing the strain principle gauge FBG(Fibre Bragg Gauge) and the rotary signal transmit equipment,. The result of analysis showed that rotating cantilever have complicate dynamic phenomenon, dynamic strain not only related to speed but also related to fluid action, the dynamic stiffing phenomenon were observe in the same time. Finally, author offer an improved insight into a strain measurement technique for a rotating mechanical system. The research work could provide an effective way for measuring rotating component’s mechanical properties. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2690

Abstract

A crucial step in image compression is the evaluation of its performance, and more precisely, available ways to measure the quality of compressed images. In this paper, based on a learned classification process in order to respect human observers, a method namely Machine Learning-based Image Quality Measure (MLIQM) is proposed, which classifies the quality using multi-Support Vector Machine (SVM) classification according to the quality scale recommended by the ITU. Then, the classification process is performed to provide the final quality class of the considered image. Finally, once a quality class is associated to the considered image, a specific SVM regression is performed to score its quality. Obtained results are compared with the one obtained applying classical Full-Reference Image Quality Assessment (FR-IQA) algorithms to judge the efficiency of the proposed method. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2716

Abstract

Cloud computing is a new computing and business paradigm with flexible and powerful computational architecture to offer universal services to users via Internet. Web service is one of the most active and widely adopted implementation in cloud computing. The performance of the scheduling system influences the benefits of both sides in this computing paradigm. In this paper, we present an intelligent scheduling system for web service, which considers both the requirements of different service requests and the circumstances of the computing infrastructure which consists of various resources. We have validated our hardware based server WSVP by conducting a performance comparison to the traditional Apache and Nginx servers. The results demonstrate that our WSVP equipped with intelligent scheduling system has immense potential as it offers better performance while consumes much lower energy.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2118

Abstract

Object descriptor has become one of the key factors for a robust and accurate tracker. In this paper, we propose an object descriptor combining color information and motion detection. A tracked object can be described by its hue histogram excluding the background pixels around the tracked object for restraining the disturbing of complex background environments. During the tracking process, we model the object descriptor by Gaussian Mixture Model for adapting the appearance variation of the tracked object. Tracking experiments in the frame of particle filter show that our proposed object descriptor can effectively improve the robustness and accuracy of object tracking under the situations of complex environments and appearance variations. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2616

Abstract

With the rapid development of computer science and technology, network attack and defense has become an important research topic in the field of information security. Teaching on network attack and defense technology in universities and research institutions has a very strong experimental characteristic, but due to the special nature and the destructive characteristic of network attack and defense technology, it is difficult to carry out experiments. In this paper, we designed and implemented a parallel and distributed network security experiments platform on which experiments can be carried out through a web interface and network simulation scripts. We believe that it is also an excellent platform for teaching courses in operating systems and networking. The results of experiments in this paper show that the platform could provide the laboratory personnels with independent experimental environment, perfect experimental control functions, excellent data collection and analysis services, etc. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2666

Abstract

The Curve Fitting and Interpolation Model are applied in Nonel dosage detection in this paper firstly, and the gray of continuous explosive in the Nonel has been forecasted. Although the traditional infrared equipment establishes the relationship of explosive dosage and light intensity, but the forecast accuracy is very low. Therefore, gray prediction models based on curve fitting and interpolation are framed separately, and the deviations from the different models are compared. Simultaneously, combining on the sample library features, the cubic polynomial fitting curve of the higher precision is used to predict grays, and 5mg-28mg Nonel gray values are calculated by MATLAB. Through the predictive values, the dosage detection operations are simplified, and the defect missing rate of the Nonel are reduced. Finally, the quality of Nonel is improved. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2706
