Abstract

Performance comparison for the computer system under different hardware platform & system structure is of vital importance in the study of the performance evaluation. The Performance Analysis for Embedded Systems by using statistics methods based on the randomized complete block designs was proposed. Using the randomized block design, the differences between conditions can be separated from the difference in the processing, and be separated from the experimental bias. A case study of automatic gate machines used in the automatic fare collection system of Shanghai Metro is presented. The obtained assessment results show that our approach is helpful and effective. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2864

Abstract

As precision farming requires real-time, accurate and sustainable monitoring of the biotope of the field, energy consumption and network delay constitute the major factors affecting the performance of ZigBee-based Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) applied in agricultural production. Based on the AODVjr algorithm, this paper presents a new algorithm, namely NS-AODVjr. Featuring emphasis on energy control and dynamic routing, as well as balance between energy consumption and shortest path routing, this algorithm realizes maximum service time of the WSN while ensuring timely and effective transmission of the data in the monitoring process. After a simulation experiment with the Network Simulator tool, results show that, compared to the original algorithm, although the packet delivery rate and network delay witness no improvement, the new algorithm not only significantly reduces the device energy consumption, but also effectively expand the service time of the network. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2799

Abstract

This paper describes the design of a general purpose electromagnetic environment and target simulator which is used to test radar and its components. The simulator was a hardware system controlled by computer software which generated echoes of targets, clutter and jamming for radar electromagnetic environment scenario simulation. It responded to the subject radar’s antenna scan by producing composite echoes in real time. Computer programs were used to management the simulation process and allowed various combinations of electromagnetic environment. Parallel signal generator was exploited to increase the execution speed and achieve real-time performance. Since the simulator could produce video frequency and intermediate frequency echo separately it was used for the test of most components of radar. The capability to accommodate dynamic scenarios of long duration in real time for detailed tracking studies distinguished the simulator from other pulse-by-pulse simulators that had been previously reported. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2816

Abstract

In order to make radar target track simulation more realistic in simulation test-bed of C3I system, a new method which utilizes data mining techniques based on historical radar data is proposed. This method includes two stages: The first is “filtering separation - piecewise fitting - feature clustering". In this stage, the radar historical data is divided into the actual true track and noise. Through computing the second-order discrete curvature, the actual true track is decomposed into several segments, such as straight line and arc, which are fitted with multinomial subsequently. On this basis, after analyzing the characteristic vector of radar historical data, the clustering database can be established; the second is “feature association-track recombination”. The track in pre-deigned air scenario is segmented by the second-order discrete curvature. After the correlative feature information of the segmented scenario is searched, matched and associated with the information in clustering database, a new track will be restructured by using this output results. This method is very available for its effective and successful application in simulation test-bed of C3I system. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2823

Abstract

A novel three-phase phase-locked loop solution is proposed based on D-Q transformation aiming at the AC-DC rectifier with high efficiency and high power factor. The phase-locked loop is implemented digitally using the Xilinx blockset integrated with Matlab/Simulink. The three-phase digital phase-locked loop (TDPLL) is elaborately designed with the parameters defined in detail. The AC-DC converter (rectifier) model with the TDPLL is built and simulated in the high-speed VHS-ADC simulation platform from Canada. The simulation and test results show the TDPLL is locked right after the different three-phase voltage disturbances and very suitable for control of the rectifier with high parallelism through space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM). http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2850

Abstract

Transient stability problem for multi-machine infinite bus system with the generator excitation was addressed via the non-certainty equivalent nonlinear re-parameterization method. The system need not to be linearized. The damping coefficient uncertainty was considered. A non-certainty equivalent excitation controller and a novel parameter updating law were obtained simultaneously via adaptive backstepping and Lyapunov methods to achieve stability of the error systems. Simulation results showed that the proposed controller had good transient performance. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2859

Abstract

The software’s unreliability mostly attributes to an erroneous analysis on the requirements done at the beginning. In this paper, we apply the tool of i* frame requirement modeling and build early requirement model against ionizing radiation. After finding out possible risks and corresponding solutions during the process of modeling analysis, we propose reasoning models against ionizing radiation. The radiation protection system  with  the  above models  can  figure out  the  purpose  of agents  related  to radiant source and provide normal service even when the environment software system is being interfered. It can serve the ecological and economical society with stability and development.  The model is divided into several sections. Section 1 gives the outline of the dependant software. Section 2 illustrates the  i* frame  technology. Section 3, 4 and 5 cover the topic of dependant security requirement analysis, SD&SR model on ionizing radiation respectively. Section 6 gives the conclusion. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2020

Abstract

The paper addresses the problem of Discretization of continuous attributes in rough set. Discretization of continuous attributes is an important part of rough set theory because most of data that we usually gain are continuous data. In order to improve processing speed of discretization, we propose a FPGA-based discretization algorithm of continuous attributes making use of the speed advantage of FPGA. Combined attributes dependency degree of rough ret, the discretization system was divided into eight modules according to block design. This method can save much time of pretreatment in rough set and improve operation efficiency. Extensive experiments on a certain fighter fault diagnosis validate the effectiveness of the algorithm. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2811

Abstract

This paper modified the differential evolution (DE) algorithm adaptively to solve the power unit coordinated control (PUCC) problem. It was modified in two aspects: 1) a uniform initialization, which was controlled and regulated by a zone factor (m), 2) a regular mutation process, to develop an effective searching process and improve the convergence of the basic DE algorithm. A numerical case study was employed to verify the performance of our proposed uniform differential evolution (UDE) algorithm, by contrast to the performance with the basic DE, genetic algorithm (GA), and particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithms. The experimental simulation results show that our proposed UDE algorithm has outperformed the other comparative algorithms, which demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the new algorithm.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2281

Abstract

A mount of data of microblogs is needed to be crawled for research, business analyzing, and so on. However, a lot of dynamic Web techniques are used in microblog Web pages. That makes it hard to crawl data by parsing the contents of Web pages for traditional Web page crawlers. Fortunately, microblogs provide APIs. Well-structured data can be returned to users simply by accessing those APIs in form of URLs. Basing on that mechanism, researchers have obtained some data from microblogs to research. Nevertheless, no common software for crawling microblog has been published up to now. Everyone has to start designing a microblog crawler from very beginning. A common software architecture based on microblog APIs for microblog crawler is proposed in this paper, which is named as MBCrawler. Its structure, architecture, and key classes are introduced. It can be seen that MBCrawler is modular and scalable. By implementing a real microblog crawler for Sina Weibo, it is shown that MBCrawler can fit specific features of different microblogs. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2805
