Abstract

As the key devices, erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) and optical Raman fiber amplifier (OFRA) have been widely applied in the fields of optical communication, sensing and measurement. However, the performance optimization is always one of the hot topics in the study of optical fiber amplifiers, because its output characteristics are hardly dependent to the key designing parameters. In this paper, in order to cope with such problem, we adopt the novel analysis based spectrum to study the output performance of EDFA and OFRA systems, respectively. Through simulating the operation of the two amplifying system, their output characteristics are first demonstrated with the various parameters. And according to the numerical results obtained, the key designing parameters of EDFA and OFRA systems are determinate, and the performance of amplifying systems are improved and optimized obviously in terms of output power, signal noise ratio, and the level of gain flatness. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2822 Keywords: Fiber Raman Amplifier, Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier, Performance optimization, Spectrum analysis, Simulation.

Abstract

Electric power market competition is intense. The competition between the various power plants will is the contest of economic efficiency as the core. Fuel cost is the center link of production management and economic accounting in thermal power plant, so selection management of the coal-fired supplier has great significance for the development of thermal power enterprise and improvement of the economic benefits. The paper constructs evaluation index system of coal-fired supplier, using the AHP method to determine the weight of evaluation index, and comprehensively evaluating to the coal-fired supplier with correlation functions in the extenics. The result indicates that it applies combination of the AHP and the extension analysis method to the selection of coal-fired supplier, which can accurately reflect relative importance of evaluation index, and directly reflect the detailed situation of supplier. This method is scientific, reliable and practical, which is applicable for various comprehensive evaluations. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2837

Abstract

At present, much more soft sensing have been widely used in industrial process control to improve the quality of product and assure safety in production. A novel method using  Hilbert-Huang transform(HHT) combined with wavelet support vector machine(WSVM) is put forward.Firstly the method analyzes the intrinsic mode function (IMF) obtained after the empirical mode decomposition (EMD), then extracts IMF energy feature as the input feature vectors of the wavelet support vector machine. Based on the wavelet analysis and conditions of the support vector kernel function, a novel multi-dimension admissible support vector wavelet kernel function is presented, which is a multidimensional wavelet kernel, thus enhancing the generalization ability of the SVM. The proposed method is used to build soft sensing of diesel oil solidifying point. Compared with other two models, the result shows that HHT-WSVM approach has a better prediction and generalization. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2817

Abstract

The distributed control systems are applied widely in communication, navigation and power fields. With growing in both systems complexity and speed of data exchange, the real time performance of systems is required. Existing clock synchronization techniques include those for wide-area network (WAN) applications with large propagation delays, e.g., the Network Time Protocol (NTP), and those for control systems over local-area networks (LANs), e.g., the IEEE 1588 Precise Time Protocol (PTP). However, NTP-like protocols have only millisecond-scale precision, which is too coarse for many LAN applications such as instrument monitoring systems, high-quality digital audio systems and sensor networks. The 1588 PTP like protocols, which are still under development, require support of a highly precise hardware clock. The key point of the existing Ethernet test and measurement is that the method needs to achieve precision clock synchronization between different terminals. In this paper, an improved method is proposed with consideration of the time drift and propagation delay, expressing master-slave synchronization as a linear relationship and inducting the line of least squares fitting algorithm that traded as linear matrix form. The precision time protocol (PTP) is also analyzed in this paper. The experiment results show that the synchronization accuracy reaches sub-microsecond grade, which is the same as the PTP. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2832

Abstract

This paper proposes the ELID (Electrolytic in Process Dressing) ultrasonic honing system, and conducts simulation for the solution - acoustic coupling mechanism of electrolyte between the anion and cathode of ELID ultrasonic honing system. Meanwhile, a comparative experiment is carried out for the ultrasonic honing and ordinary honing. The simulation results show that there is no obvious increase of the coupling speed of the system’s electrolyte, but the rapid change of local speed, which will accelerate the electrolyte renewal around the electrode, thereby intensifying the mass transfer of reactive ion of the electrochemical double layer, increasing the updating speed of ion concentration and speeding up the electrode reaction process; the intense variations of coupling pressure further enhances the updating speed of the electrolyte; Then the electrolytic parameters, ultrasound parameters and honing parameters obtained by simulation are respectively used to conduct experiments of ELID-ultrasound honing, ultrasound honing and traditional honing for ZrO2 ceramic. The comparative experiment results show that the machining accuracy of ELID-ultrasonic honing is 10 times of the traditional honing and twice of the ultrasonic honing; the new acoustic system adopted in ELID-ultrasound honing system reduces the amplitude, so the processing efficiency increase is not significant. This ELID-ultrasonic honing system is more suitable for the ultra-precision honing of certain difficult-to-cut materials. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2865

Abstract

Object oriented languages usually avoid direct message passing, due to its complicated implementation, though that is the promising way to communicate in concurrently inherited objects. With the advancement in the high performance computing system, interaction between parallel application objects onto physical cores becomes one of the significant issues, which is not fully explored yet. In object oriented programming attribute data is included in objects and their state can be changed using the methods. Objects enable massage passing to other objects interacting with each other. Comprehensive problems can be molded by object-oriented methodology, and solves difficult program running object-oriented programs.Cores communicate with each other through communicator and groups in MPI, but in our reference architecture TBHIN (Triplet Based Hierarchical Interconnection Network), the cores are already faction in Triplets. We propose IITOIM Model to improve the performance with efficient intra-inter triplet cores communication mechanism between the objects in TBHIN. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2151
