Abstract

It has been observed that there are sustained electrical potential difference and current between a tree trunk and its surrounding soil, which have bright application prospects for powering wireless sensor networks in forests. But the mechanism of the bioelectricity has remained controversial. In order to provide more comprehensive data for further researches and to analyze the relationship between the bioelectricity in tree trunks and their surrounding environmental parameters, an experiment has been made. The output power of selected trees, xylem pH, as well as the environmental parameters such as air temperature, air relative humidity, soil temperature, soil moisture and soil pH were measured. Results supported the hypothesis that bioelectricity in xylem has a significant relativity with soil pH. Moreover, it was found that air relative humidity, soil temperature and material of electrode affected the bioelectricity in the xylem. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i8.3148

Abstract

At present, objects detection, identification and tracking are the very popular research areas in computing vision. A real-time objects tracking system was proposed in this paper. This paper focuses on improve CamShift algorithm, which can track the motion objects with high a accuracy. An Adaptive Gaussian Background Model is proposed in the system , which was established in order to automatically update the background and detect the outline of moving objects. By analyzing different algorithms, this paper brings out approaches to promote the performance. The CamShift algorithm to complete motion detection and objects tracking, which applied for static background video sequences. And the experimental results show that this algorithm can detect all motion objects and track almost motion objects. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i8.3037

Abstract

The micro device designing flow begins with the mask design currently, which is not intuitive for designer and sometime made them confused. As a result, the manufacturability is hard to prove in advance with the traditional designing way. Especially for surface micro-machined device with multiple structural layers, the 2D mask design cannot ensure the fabrication of complex 3D device with high yields reliably. The rise of structural designing strategies gave a direction to change the traditional habit. On the other hand, the top-down method provides the advanced designing flow, which begins with the system level design. However, there still some key technologies to study further because of the novel design procedure. To improve the manufacturability of micro device, the designing flow based on design for manufacturability methodology is presented, which draw on the advantages and experience of the mechanical design method. The key technologies on the structural design level, the processes planning level and the fabricating level are introduced correspondingly. In addition, we present the framework to implement the method. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i8.3081

Abstract

According to the shortcoming of single-phase ground fault line selection method in the resonant grounded system such as the uncertainty of its device by fast compensation with the automatic compensation equipment, an arc suppression and residual flow incremental method is proposed to effectively choose the earth fault line. Firstly, when the single-phase ground fault occurs, the arc suppression coil parameters are adjusted to realize compensation and arc suppression. Then the arc suppression coil inductance values are modulated to make the zero-sequence current of fault line changed, at the same time, the zero-sequence current value is detected and its change will be captured to select the fault line. The simulation experiments prove that the arc grounding over voltage damage can be effectively reduced by arc suppression coil full compensation and fault line can be effectively selected by arc suppression and residual flow increment method. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i8.3106

Abstract

It is a critical problem of P2P network about how to efficiently and accurately search resources on P2P network. This thesis mainly starts from improving query efficiency to establish an intelligent search framework. On the basis of Gnutella-flooding search technology, it applies theories of semantic ontology search combined with semantic hash routing table technology and searches accurate answer from the resource library through problem traversal query in the network and node provided in the routing table. Meanwhile, in view of the flaws of the current structuralized and non-structuralized P2P network, it applies a hierarchical clustering method to form a hierarchical semantic web through semantic clustering in the node, domain clustering and global clustering, etc. Experiment shows that this framework could well improve search, query efficiency and fault tolerance in P2P environment, extend and understand user query demands and reach the aim of accurate search. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i8.3143

Abstract

There are many different home appliances in our home, for example Lamps, Television, DVD player, etc. Moreover, the appliances are usually controlled by different controller using IR (Infra-Red) signal. This brings our life many inconveniences, and many resources are wasted. Therefore, we propose an integrated controller. It can control these various appliances, only a single one. In order to realize the purpose, the integrated controller must have previous preparations, because the appliances have their different IR controlling signals. Therefore, the integrated controller must “learn” the IR signals from their own controllers, and save them inside. Because the radiation range of IR signal is limited, and the appliances are distributed in different rooms, we propose a novel wireless network based on IEEE802.15.4, especially ZigBee protocol, to transmit the controlling signals from the integrated controller. The proposed scheme consists of two main parts. The one part is the hardware design, include the integrated controlled with ZigBee transmission device and the terminal control module with ZigBee-IR conversion, which converts a control signal transferred through the ZigBee network into an IR typed control signal. The terminal control module is based on CC2430 as the controller core. The other is the software design. The software part uses IAR Embedded Workbench. Based on Zstack-1.4.2-1.1.0 protocol provided by TI, man can program the control codes of the system. The proposed scheme can also provide the well-defined interface and the necessary basis for preparing the smart home system. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i8.3043

Abstract

The chaotic system plays an important role in electronic and electrical equipment, computer cryptography, computer communication and so on. In this paper, we established three new six-dimensional complex chaotic systems and one new ten-dimensional complex chaotic system. The regularity to generate high-dimensional chaotic system is also found by overlaying a series of low-dimensional chaotic systems with Duffing chaotic system. The circiuts of the new high-dimensional complex chaotic system are designed. The simulation experiments of the high-dimensional complex chaotic circuits are tested. The results of theoretical analysis and experiment show that new high-dimensional complex chaotic systems and their circiuts have the hyperchaotic characteristics. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i8.3076

Abstract

The design and verification of accurate temperature control system of the oven with the small or middle scale programmable logic controller (PLC) base on the dahlin algorithm is introduced. The design can achieve accurate control to the pure lag system and regulate the other logic control form the same controller. The system is cost-effective on the specific modular or instrument for the complex computing in some automatic device. Meanwhile, the design is computed and simulated by the matlab softwear for verifying the implementation. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i8.3101

Abstract

With the development of the Internet and the increasing minority language websites, people of ethnic minorities begin to browse the news, comments and other content on the Internet according to their own interests. At present, there is still no websites to provide the Chinese–Tibetan or Chinese-Uyghur co-occurrence search engine in China. In this paper, a platform for Tibetan and Uyghur website monitoring is proposed. The functions and characterizes are proposed in detail. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i8.3137
