Abstract

It is crucial to segment characters correctly and improve rate of correct character recognition when processing automobile license plates corrections. In this paper, two algorithms are proposed to obtain the horizontal tilt and vertical shear angles. The transformation matrix for images rectification is given and the subpixel issue is solved. Some experiments were done to test the algorithms. Experimental results show that the algorithm is robust, flexible and effective.DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.3097

Abstract

Making full use of abundant renewable solar energy through the development of photovoltaic (PV) technology is an effective means to solve the problems such as difficulty in electricity supply and energy shortages in remote rural areas. In order to improve the electricity generating efficiency of PV cells, it is necessary to track the maximum power point of PV array, which is difficult to make under partially shaded conditions due to the odds of the appearance of two or more local maximum power points., In this paper, a control algorithm of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) based on improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) algorithm is presented for PV systems. Firstly, the current in maximum power point is searched with the IPSO algorithm, and then the real maximum power point is tracked through controlling the output current of PV array.,. The MPPT method based on IPSO algorithm is established and simulated with Matlab / Simulink, and meanwhile, the comparison between IPSO MPPT algorithm and traditional MPPT algorithm is also performed in this paper. It is proved through simulation and experimental results that the IPSO algorithm has good performances and very fast response even to partial shaded PV modules, , which ensures the stability of PV system. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.3965

Abstract

INS/GPS integrated navigation system is studied in this paper for the hypersonic UAV in order to satisfy the precise guidance requirements of hypersonic UAV and in response to the defects while the inertial navigation system (INS) and the global positioning system (GPS) are being applied separately. The information of UAV including position, velocity and attitude can be obtained by using INS and GPS respectively after generating a reference trajectory. The corresponding errors of two navigation systems can be obtained through comparing the navigation information of the above two guidance systems. Kalman filter is designed to estimate the navigation errors and then the navigation information of INS are corrected. The non-equivalence relationship between the platform misalignment angle and attitude error angle are considered so that the navigation accuracy is further improved. The Simulink simulation results show that INS/GPS integrated navigation system can help to achieve higher accuracy and better anti-interference ability than INS navigation system and this system can also satisfy the navigation accuracy requirements of hypersonic UAV. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.4143

Abstract

Rolling bearing is an important part in mechanical system and faults occur frequently with vibration noise. Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is a tool for nonlinear and non-stationary signals analysis. However, the major drawbacks of EMD is mode mixing problem, ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) provides a new tool for signal analysis, and it is an improved technique of EMD. In order to alleviate the mode mixing problem and choose useful IMFs, a method called EEMD and distributing fitting testing is proposed in this paper, and it is used in rolling bearing fault diagnosis. Firstly, using it for rolling bearing fault diagnosis, the fault signal is decomposed by EEMD. Then applying distributing fitting testing to choose components with truly physical meaning and the de-noised signal can be obtained. Finally, utilizing envelope spectrum to distinguish different faults. The results demonstrate the proposed method can sift useful IMFs and diagnose faults effectively, such as inner race fault, outer race fault. The advantage of the proposed method is suitable for rolling bearing diagnosis. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.2928

Abstract

Wireless power transfer technologies enable power transfer to loads through air. The contactless power transformer is a key element of it. In this work, a new transformer with metamaterial is proposed, through which the power transfer distance increases. The electromagnetic properties about metamaterial are discussed at first. Then, the finite element analyses of this transformer are presented as well. The magnetic field distributions and the computational results show that this type of transformer can enlarge the power transfer range of a wireless power transfer system.DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.3221

Abstract

An aggregate signature scheme can aggregate n signatures on n distinct messages from n distinct signers into a single signature. Thus,n verification equations can be reduced to one.So the aggregate signature adapts to Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET). In this paper, we propose an efficient ID-based aggregate signature scheme with constant pairing computations. Compared with the existing ID-based aggregate signature schemes, this scheme greatly improves the efficiency of signature communication and verification. In addition, in this work, we apply our ID-based aggregate signature to authenticated routing protocol to present a secure routing scheme. Our scheme not only provides sound authentication and a secure routing protocol in ad hoc networks, but also meets the nature of MANET. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.3456

Abstract

According to the non-stationary property of vibration signal, the vibration signal is decomposed by empirical mode decomposition (EMD). And this method is applied to study the remanufacturing level of engine. Based on the decomposition of vibration signal, correlation coefficient is introduced to study the correlation between IMF (Intrinsic Mode Function) components and original signal, and dynamic structure of IMF components is analyzed by correlation dimension. In order to study the remanufacturing level of engine, correlation coefficient and correlation dimension are considered in the function of IMF, and an index of vibration intensity is proposed. A corresponding relationship is established between remanufacturing level and vibration intensity. This method has been proved that the running state of engine can be reflected by vibration intensity, and this index can be used to evaluate the remanufacturing level of engine. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.3896

Abstract

Opportunistic relaying scheme is a single cooperative relay selection method based on Channel State Information. However, the failure probability of the best relay selection may become unacceptable when the number of relays increases. Although most of the existing solutions can reduce the failure probability of relay selection, they ignore the fairness of the relay selection. In order to improve the fairness of the relay selection without affecting the failure probability of the best relay selection, we propose a modified practical best relay selection scheme in this paper,  and by introducing proportional fair algorithm, the relay timer will be given a smaller correlation coefficient. The proposed method makes the probability of selection be improved. In the light of defined fairness factor, the relay fairness is represented. Simulation results show that the new algorithm can improve the fairness of the relay selection on the basis of maintaining the original failure probability of relay selection. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.3910

Abstract

This paper aims to design a type of track receiver that relies on software algorithms and to optimize the whole structure of the track receiver. A voltage sensor is placed between the sender and receiver in a track circuit to collect high-voltage pulse signals generated by the sender. These signals are then sent to the CPU of the receiver for software operation. At the same time, the receiver also collects the high-voltage pulse signals from the track circuit. First, the Butterworth Low-Pass filters out 50Hz traction current of the pulse signals. These signals are the outputs from two different types of operating CPUs. Consequently, the main goal of this paper is to successfully design two sets of CPUs that respectively adopt two types of software algorithms, FFT and Mallat. It will be proven that this improved scheme has possibly reached the qualities of high speed and accuracy of CPU operation, and obviously improves instantaneity and reliability. It has been shown that this scheme, which is more feasible, has a higher degree of automation and is easier to maintain than the original equipments practically used. Hence, the scheme has the possibility of owning a much brighter application prospect in the future. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.3616
