Abstract

It is difficult to track, count and separate the bars moving at a high speed on production line for their overlap under occlusion. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a reliable, practical splitting mechanism for the adhered bars. This paper proposed a new solution to the problem of bars adhesion: the plane array camera was utilized to acquire the images of moving bars so as to recognize the centroid coordinates of the bars ends and compute their area with a Blob algorithm, two geometric parameters were utilized to detect adhered bars, and the presence of adhered bars was analyzed according to the convex hull. For the adhered bars, the segmentation points were searched using scanning method by a series of the rules to determine the optimal segmentation line. The proposed method can segment the adhered bars effectively with matched concavity points. The experimental results show that the method can well segment and count bars moving at a high speed on production line, with the counting accuracy near to 100% and the recognizing time in millisecond.

Abstract

The accurate localization of wireless sensor network node is one of the supporting technologies of network application. A novel localization algorithm of wireless sensor network node based on BP neural network is put forward in the paper. This localization algorithm constructs the BP neutral network model in accordance with the number of the anchor node firstly, and then trains the network by the anchor node and estimates the location of the unknown node. Moreover, the virtual anchor node is introduced into this algorithm in order to realize its optimization, which increases the anchor node scale in the network and improves the localization accuracy of the node. The simulation experiment results in two different conditions show that compared with Centroid algorithm and DV-Hop algorithm, the localization algorithm of this paper estimates the location of the unknown node more precisely and improves the location accuracy more effectively. This algorithm demonstrates its merits greatly.

Abstract

In this paper, we propose an exact image authentication scheme that can, in the best case, detect image tampering with the accuracy of one pixel. This method is based on constructing blocks in the image in such a manner that they intersect with one another in different directions. Such a technique is very useful to identify whether an individual image pixel has been tampered with.

Abstract

This paper presents an investigation of five-Level Cascaded H – bridge (CHB) Inverter as Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM) in Power System (PS) for compensation of reactive power and harmonics. The advantages of CHB inverter are low harmonic distortion, reduced number of switches and suppression of switching losses. The DSTATCOM helps to improve the power factor and eliminate the Total Harmonics Distortion (THD) drawn from a Non-Liner Diode Rectifier Load (NLDRL). The D-Q reference frame theory is used to generate the reference compensating currents for DSTATCOM while Proportional and Integral (PI) control is used for capacitor dc voltage regulation. A CHB Inverter is considered for shunt compensation of a 11 kV distribution system. Finally a level shifted PWM (LSPWM) and phase shifted PWM (PSPWM) techniques are adopted to investigate the performance of CHB Inverter. The results are obtained through Mat lab / Simulink software package.

Abstract

The modern High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission technology depends on the development of power electronics based on the semiconductor devices. This paper represents a simple model of HVDC transmission system in which the converter and filter have been designed to increase stability of power transmission. The HVDC transmission system has been proposed on the basis of simulation studies using MATLAB software package (Simulink Model). Using this model, current - voltage (C-V) characteristics have been simulated for steady state condition. It has also been studied for different fault conditions.  With the proposed strategy the HVDC system can provide useful and economical way to transmit electric power over the long distance, thereby improving the bulk transmission of electric power and power system stability.

Abstract

Static VAR Compensator (SVC) is one of the shunt type FACTS devices for providing reactive power support in power systems network and its placement representing the location and size has significant influence on enhancement of voltage profile. This paper presents a firefly algorithm based optimization strategy for placement of SVC in power systems with a view of minimizing voltage deviation at the load buses to enhance the load bus voltages. This method uses a self-adaptive scheme for tuning the firefly parameters. The proposed strategy is tested on three IEEE test systems. The obtained results are promising and show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Abstract

Sinter tumbler strength is an important parameter in the sintering process, and has an important influence on the performance of finished sinter. Artificial fish swarm algorithm have good ability to acquire the global performance, the neural network has strong nonlinear ability and local optimization performance,; AFSA+BP algorithm combined with artificial fish swarm algorithm and BP algorithm, realizes the complementary artificial fish swarm algorithm global search capability and BP algorithm's local optimization combination of performance, an artificial fish swarm neural results show that the network combination algorithm, it is shown that comparing with the traditional BP neural network forecasting method, the presented forecasting method has better adaptive ability and can give better forecasting results. The artificial fish—swarm algorithm network is trained and checked with the actual production data.this algorithm has strong generalization capability, predictive accuracy improved significantly, and speed up the convergence rate, provides an effective method for strength prediction. Which be used for off-line learning and prediction, a good basis for the online application.

Abstract

Rough set model based on tolerance relation, has been widely used to deal with incomplete information systems. However, this model is not so perfect because not all of the elements in a tolerant class are mutually tolerant, but they are all tolerant with the generating element of this class. To mend this limitation, the compatible relation is redefined, and then the concept of maximal complete compatible class in incomplete information system is presented for the purpose that any two elements in the same compatible module are mutually compatible. Furthermore, two methods are put forward in the interest of selecting optimal compatible class for an object, which can be used in knowledge reduction. Besides, coverings on universe produced by tolerance and compatible relations are deeply investigated and compared. Finally, a medical decision table is analyzed, some compact rules are mined.

Abstract

In today's environment which emphasis on energy efficiency, predicting the trend of electrical energy consumption efficiency, and researching the efficient operation model of power industry has practical significance. By establishing GM-DEA method system, we use GM model to predict four inputs and output indicators in 2011 and 2012 in Beijing first, and then use DEA to give predicting years a reasonable analysis for the efficiency of energy consumption. The result shows that efficiency of electrical energy consumption in Beijing is gradually increasing, GM-DEA model can analyze the trend of the efficiency effectively in advance, and it provides a scientific basis for the rapid development of power industry.

Abstract

The Lightning Detection System (LDS) system monitored by Malaysian Meteorological Service (MMS) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) are not reliable that may due to unresolved site errors .From informal observation, Baharudin and co-workers found the data recorded by TNB was not identical to their data. In this paper,we observed about Lightning Flashes in Malaysia nearly 21 data matching the time and date of our data with data from TNB Reports that the lightning flash polarity between both data has a negative polarity, but there are differences on multiplicity. Regarding data from TNB Reports , they also noted that there was presented a total of 10 positive cloud-to-ground flash data , but we did not find any  data positive cloud-to-ground flash data. However, the data we have found a total of 191 data were presented from cloud flash but TNB did not record any cloud flash.
