Abstract

In order to reduce the green house gas emission and dependency on conventional energy sources, the utilization of renewable energy sources for electricity generation is increasing day by day. The performance of the wind turbine as well as the power quality is determined according to the guidelines and regulations of IEC-61400 (International Electro-technical Commission) standard. When wind turbine is connected to a grid system, the power quality measurements like active power, reactive power, frequency, voltage sag, voltage swell, flicker and harmonics are needed to be considered. In this paper, a STATCOM (static compensator) model is proposed for improving the power quality in case of feeding electricity generated from the wind turbine into the grid. The proposed STATCOM control scheme for improving the wind power quality is designed and simulated by using Simpower toolbox of MATLAB Simulink. According to the simulated results, the bus voltage is improved after adding STATCOM in the simulated model which justifies the feasibility and practicability of the proposed FACTS (Flexible AC transmission system) device.

Abstract

In view of the pipeline marking difficult and poor measurement precision, a new-type monolithic integrated array MEMS vector vibration sensor has been put forward. It has overcomed the deficiency that present vector acoustic sensor applied in the oil and gas pipeline inspection gauge can not be accurate about signal position, and eliminated the port/starboard blur problem. Through ANSYS simulation analysis, it conclude that the array vector vibration sensor has the sensitivity of 2.05mv/pa (-173.8dB,0dB=1v/μpa). The first-order modal is 438 Hz, and the third-order modal is 452 Hz. The resonance frequency of the two sensitive components is respectively 452 Hz and 438 Hz. At the end of this paper , the algorithm that can be used to estimate the azimuth angle detected by the sensor , is given.

Abstract

This paper proposed a robust chaos control scheme for surface permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) drive system considering the uncertain parameters and external disturbances. A nonlinear time delay estimator is utilized to estimate the nonlinearities, uncertain parameters and disturbances of the system on line, so it is not necessarily required the exact model of the system. Then, based on the time delay estimator, a simple feedback controller, which is only related to the system errors and control input, is simple and easy to be constructed. The control gains can be obtained easily using pole placement method. The stability of the proposed control scheme is analyzed according to Lyapunov stability theory. Law-filter is also used to improve the performance of the system. Simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the presented control method.

Abstract

In rough set theory, attribute reduction aims to retain the discernability of the original attribute set, and many attribute reduction algorithms have been proposed in literatures. However, these methods are computationally time-consuming for large scale datasets. We develop a bisection method for attribute reduction and the main opinion is to partition the universe into smaller ones by using partition core attributes to reduce the complexity. Experiments and analysis show that, compared with the traditional un-bisection reduction algorithm, the developed bisection algorithm can significantly reduce computational time while maintaining their results as same as before. http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i9.4913

Abstract

This paper proposes a non-linear traffic flow time sequence prediction model aiming at the periodic and stochastic characteristics of the traffic flow. First, one-dimension traffic flow time sequence data are transformed to multi-dimension time sequence. Then the RBF neural network which has strong nonlinear prediction capability is applied to model. Finally the simulation experiment is used to testify to the model. The results of the simulation prove the prediction accuracy of the model with RBF neural traffic flow time sequence prediction model is much higher than the traditional one and the prediction results can be utilized in the practical traffic management. The results show that the nonlinear traffic flow time series forecasting model with nonlinear, non-stationary characteristics of different period randomness, chaos and uncertainty. The results of this study to forecast short-term traffic flow have certain theoretical and practical significance.

Abstract

The high level electric field intensity produced by high voltage (HV) equipments inside 500/220 kV substations is harmful for the human (staff) health. Therefore the minimum health and safety requirements regarding the exposure of workers to the risk arising from electric fields produced inside these substations is still considered as a competitive topic for utility designers, world health organization (WHO) and biomedical field researchers. It is very important to have knowledge about levels distribution of electric field intensity within these high voltage substations as early stage in the process of substation design. This paper presents results of investigation 50Hz electric field intensity distribution inside 500/220 kV power transmission substations in Cairo, Egypt. This paper presents a method for assessment the distribution of 50HZ electric field intensity distribution inside this substation, this method of analysis is based on the charge simulation technique (CSM). This study will serve for planning service works or for inspection of equipment on HV power transmission substations.

Abstract

Due to less pollution, silence and high efficiency electric vehicles are fascinating to the citizens widely. There are number of physical and electrical aspects are to be considered during vehicle modeling. When electric vehicle runs on the concrete surface rolling resistance resist the vehicle tire to move fast. On the other hand when the vertical angle of vehicle drive is increased or decreased by somewhat degrees the forward force is also increased or decreased respectively. In this paper, a typical electric vehicle dynamic is modeled to mechanical parameter after conversion its mechanical torques, the electrical power is obtained by required mechanical torque and angular velocity of propel as well as wheel. The permanent magnet DC motor is used to simulate the vehicle speed and torque. MATLAB created surface or road gradients are used to investigate torque in different ups and downs at different angle. After analyzing battery error the proportional integral controller gain is derived for achieving desired output from the vehicle.

Abstract

The problem of finite-time stabilization for networked control systems with both sensor-to-controller and controller-to-actuator packet dropouts is investigated in this paper.By using the iterative approach,  the NCSs with bounded packet dropout is modeled as switched linear systems. Sufficient conditions for finite-time stabilization of the underlying systems are derived via linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Lastly, an illustrative example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.
