Abstract

The quality of cluster result and the learning speed of Self-organizing map (SOM) are dependent on the initialization of weights since the initial values for weight vectors affect the performance of SOM training when applied to clustering. In this paper, improvement of SOM was achieved with the application of the Nguyen-Widrow algorithm to initialize weights. Nguyen-Widrow initialization algorithm is a method for initialization of the weights of neural networks to speed up the training process. Performance of the modified SOM was determined in terms of cluster error rate and the number of iterations to achieve convergence using different datasets and results show that the modified SOM algorithm produces better cluster results and improved training speed compared to traditional SOM.

Abstract

Wind turbine is a device that converts kinetic energy of wind into electrical energy. Weak air pressure with an average of 2m/s to 4m/s makes wind turbine implementation in Malaysia becoming difficult and unrealistic. In order to produce a good power and torque, a quality air pressure is needed. Wind turbine performance depends on the incoming wind speed. Fluctuating and low quality air pressure are the significant challenges in wind turbine implementation. There are many types of mechanism and control but the production of output power is still considered low compared to the actual equipment. In a large building, Heat Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) system is highly required to control the indoor temperature and consistent air pressure through ducting. The consistency of air pressure in ducting system make a drive for this research to proposed a wind turbine implementation in ducting system in order to produce electrical energy. In HVAC there are five parameters to be considered in order to identify the air pressure distribution in ducting system. These five parameters are input air pressure, ducting height, distance between blower to the pipe, total effective length and gap between trunk or run out.  In this paper, an analysis of air pressure  effect in a ducting system will be conducted via a development of air pressure prototype. Thousands of experiments are required with regards to a huge number of experiments to be considered. Spesifically a statistical analysis Taguchi Method is used to reduce a number of experiments. Without statistical analysis, 3125 experiments  shall be conducted to identify the air pressure distribution in the ducting system. However, these huge number of experiments are reduced to only 25 experiment by using Taguchi method based on the function of L25 in array orthogonal

Abstract

Conducting an assessment of consumer sentiments taken from social media in assessing a culinary food gives useful information for everyone who wants to get this information especially for migrants and tourists, in th other hand that information is very valuable for food stall and restaurant owners as information in improvinf food quality. Overcoming this problem, a sentiment analysis classification model using naïve bayes algorithm (NB) was applied to get this information. This problem occurs is the level of accuracy of classification of consumer ratings of culinary food is still not optimal because the weight of values in the data preprocessing process are not optimal. In this paper proposed a hybrid feature selection models to overcome the problems in the process of selecting the feature attributes that have not been optimal by using a combination of information gain (IG) and genetic algorithm (GA) algorithms. The result of this research showed that after the experiment and compared to using others algorithms produce the best of the level occuracy is 93%.

Abstract

Heart sound analysis has been a popular topic of studies since a few decades ago. Most of the studies are done in PC platform since embedding the complex algorithm into a simple small device such as microcontroller board seems to be very difficult due to limited processing speed and memory. This study classifies normal and abnormal heart sound signal from four categories of Heart Valve Disease. An automated system that consists of segmentation, feature extraction and classification of the heart sound signal is developed in PC and hardware platforms. A multimedia board completed with a single board computer, audio codec and graphic LCD is used to make a portable heart valve disease screening device with electronic stethoscope as the input for the system. Both system recorded 96.3% specificity. However, the portable device has only 77.78% sensitivity and 87.04% accuracy compared to PC platform that have sensitivity and accuracy of more than 90%.

Abstract

In this paper, we describe the construction of important landmarks of roads in the GIS environment. The system uses the corners between more than two roads as an important landmarks. In this corner points will be saving a number of images, each one represents the movement direction between two segment roads. The objective of our work is to build the geo-database repository depend on the GIS (vector data) and multimedia (raster data) information. This paper considered as a preprocessing step for a roadmap discovery of video film when the input to the system is a dolly video film of roads with absence the GPS locations of frames video, and the output is the pathway (route) on the map inside the GIS environment. This work considered as a starting point for multimedia query inside the GIS environment. That’s mean when query the GIS system about a particular image or video, the GIS system must be able to know and determine the location of this image or video file on the map. Thus, the first step for doing this process needs to building and constructing an appropriate database for matching process later.
