Abstract

Nowadays solving practical problems in various sectors using intelligent solutions, based on expert systems are becoming more and more widespread. In this paper an expert system method is proposed for assessment and prediction of destructive influences. All disadvantages of existing assessment systems are taken into account during the development and analysis phases. The most important estimated parameters are determined. This method is based on quantitative methods of expert evaluation, which gives the advantage: there is no need to collect large amounts of statistical data and clear formalization of the current situation.

Abstract

Reduction of dynamic data redundancy in cloud computing is one of the best ways to maintain the storage capacity from being fully utilized. Cloud storage is a part of cloud computing technology which holds a high demand in any organization for reducing the cost of purchasing and maintaining storage infrastructures. Increase in the number of users will require a larger storage capacity for storing their data. Reduction of dynamic data redundancy allows service providers to be energy savvy and minimize maintenance cost. Recent researches focus more on static data nature despite its limited capability as compared to dynamic data characteristic in cloud storage. Therefore, this paper theoretically compares various techniques for reduction of redundant dynamic data in cloud computing and suggests the best technique for completing the task in terms of response time.

Abstract

Binarization of historical documents nowadays is very important as digital archiving has become the best and preferred solution for the retrieval and storage of valuable archives. However, the process becomes more challenging due to the degradation of historical documents. Hence, this paper described a method on binarization of historical documents using the learning concept. Support vector machine (SVM) learning was used as a classifier in this work. After training some images with the help of ground truth images, a model was developed. Testing images then used the model to segregate each pixel as text or non-text. The grey level and RGB values were chosen as descriptors for a particular pixel and comparisons were made between these two descriptors. The intensities of the local neighbourhood for every pixel were used in the experiment. To compare these descriptors, standard dataset HDIBCO2014, DIBCO2012 and DIBCO2016 were used in the training and testing phase. The results from the experiment clearly showed that grey level values gave better performance compared to RGB values.

Abstract

This article presents the design of a microstrip patch antenna at different frequencies above 20 GHz that intended to be used for fifth generation (5G) telecommunication system. The design of microstrip patch antenna that has a radiating element with a rectangular shape and partial ground plane is proposed. The patch antenna is designed using a Rogers RT5880 substrate with dielectric constant, εr of 2.2. The results of the designed antenna design analyzed in terms of the reflection coefficient, bandwidth, gain, and directivity performance. The proposed patch antennas at design frequencies of 25.875 GHz, 38.75 GHz, 43 GHz, 46.25 GHz, 48.7 GHz, 51.5 GHz, 71 GHz, and 83.5 GHz have a fractional bandwidth, gain and directivity that respectively greater than 10.2 %, 2.159 dB and 2.562 dBi. All designs and analysis are performed by using the CST Microwave Studio software.

Abstract

The successful inclusion of microgrids for enhancement of the existing power system is laden with many challenges. Increase in demand and insufficient power generation results in power shutdown in several areas which comprises non-critical loads. The preface of Distributed Generation (DG) in power system has varied implications on the existing system. The concept proposed in this paper helps in time scheduling and load scheduling of a power system based on priority setting and time setting. The load management may also be done using IoT which enables load shedding from remote areas.

Abstract

A compact ultra wideband (UWB) antenna for operation at 6 GHz intended for microwave medical imaging (MMI) application is proposed. The microstrip patch antenna (MPA) was design in hexagon shape which is contain H-slot at the centre top of the patch and a slot at the ground. Those slots method is utilised to enhance the operating bandwidth as well as minimising the antenna’s impedance mismatch caused by its proximity to material. Results shows that, the implementation of slot on the patch has profoundly enhance the bandwidth (BW) of the antenna to 503.54 MHz. Measurement of fabricated antenna produce significant result in term of producing wide bandwidth of 520 MHz, with slightly shifting on operating frequency. Therefore, it has been proved that the required performance of UWB antenna has been achieved successfully.

Abstract

This paper presents the design and characterization for metal plate temperature sensor based on Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG). Five types of FBGs were used such as Acrylate FBG, Bare FBG, Bimetallic Acrylate FBG, Bimetallic Bare FBG and Ceramic FBG to determine the sensitivity on four different plates at 23℃ to 70℃, experimentally. The four different plates are Aluminium, Aluminium Coating, Zinc and Zinc Coating has been used because of their excellent thermal conductivity. Two metals which are Copper and Zinc have been chosen to design the Bimetallic Strips FBG due to the Coefficient Thermal Expansion (CTE) to improve their sensitivity. The results show that Ceramic FBG has been chosen as the best temperature sensor because it has the highest sensitivity compared to other FBGs with sensitivity value of 50.4 and 59.7 pm 16(℃)-1">  when in contact with Aluminium and Zinc plates, respectively. In addition, Aluminium and Zinc plates has been chosen as the most reliable metal plates where it can transfer heat efficiently due to high thermal conductive which is 237 W/mK and 116 W/mK thus it gives the highest sensitivity when measured using Bimetallic Acrylate, Bimetallic Bare and Ceramic FBG.

Abstract

A metamaterial structure capable of operating as a wide band absorber as well as an AMC reflector is presented in this report. A microstrip patch copper was used as a switch to switch between the two modes. An FR4 substrate was used and the incidental wave angles were varied from 00 to 600. Simulations results showed that the absorber was able achieve 96% absorption at 13.05 GHz and 100% absorption at 10.00 GHz and 12.00 GHz. Furthermore, it archived over 85% absorption for the entire X-band frequency range. The AMC reflector also was able to achieve 84.97%, 82.88% and 78.69% for incident angles 00, 200 and 400 respectively. Unfortunately, the structure is polarization sensitive.

Abstract

Even though there are numerous classifiers algorithms that are more complex, k-Nearest Neighbour (k-NN) is regarded as one amongst the most successful approaches to solve real-world issues. The classification process’s effectiveness relies on the training set’s data. However, when k-NN classifier is applied to a real world, various issues could arise; for instance, they are considered to be computationally expensive as the complete training set needs to be stored in the computer for classification of the unseen data. Also, intolerance of k-NN classifier towards irrelevant features can be seen. Conversely, imbalance in the training data could occur wherein considerably larger numbers of data could be seen with some classes versus other classes. Thus, selected training data are employed to improve the effectiveness of k-NN classifier when dealing with large datasets. In this research work, a substitute method is present to enhance data selection by simultaneously clubbing the feature selection as well as instances selection pertaining to k-NN classifier by employing Cooperative Binary Particle Swarm Optimisation (CBPSO). This method can also address the constraint of employing the k-nearest neighbour classifier, particularly when handling high dimensional and imbalance data. A comparison study was performed to demonstrate the performance of our approach by employing 20 real world datasets taken from the UCI Machine Learning Repository. The corresponding table of the classification rate demonstrates the algorithm’s performance. The experimental outcomes exhibit the efficacy of our proposed approach.

Abstract

Soybean production is the main branch of specialization of agriculture in the south of the Far East, which is due to the unique natural advantages associated with favorable climatic conditions for the cultivation of this crop. In Russia, soybean as an agricultural crop has not historically found wide distribution, which is due to the exacting nature of this plant for various factors of production, the undeveloped culture of consumption of soy products in the diet of the population. Therefore soybeans were more used as technical raw materials for the production of the most important products of its processing - oil and meal. The purpose of this study is to identify trends in the soybean seeds market in the Far East and develop recommendations for improving the efficiency of its functioning in modern conditions. The methodology of soybean market research is based on the synthesis of economic analysis and applied methods developed in mathematical statistics. The scientific value of the results of the study is to identify the development trend of the soybean market localized in the Far East of Russia and to develop practical recommendations that complement the main provisions of the theory of spatial development and institutional configuration of market structures in the agrarian sphere.
