Abstract

The current techniques to extract building footprints frequently involve Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), as well as satellite images. The UAV is proposed to acquire aerial imagery in this study as it is more efficient, time-efficient, and inexpensive, especially for small budget projects. Hence, this study evaluated the building footprints from different UAV platforms. The objectives of this study are to perform the different UAV image processing of building footprints using fixed-wing UAV and multi-rotor UAV, as well as to analyse the outcomes of building footprints from different UAV platforms with existing layout plans. The methodology begins with a preliminary study, and continued with acquisition of data via UAV, data processing, and lastly, analyses of the outcome from different platforms. Based on the analysis in terms of area, the accuracy gained by using multi rotor UAV had been better than that for fixed wing UAV with area difference of 13.648 m² compared to 18.091 m². Lastly, it can be summarised that the area displayed better results with multi rotor UAV, in comparison to the area obtained by using fixed wing UAV. Thus, it is recommended for future studies to use other UAV platforms and other methods for extraction of building footprints, such as orthoimages and digital elevation model.

Abstract

Intravenous therapy aims to inject fluids such as medicine or nutritions into the body via vein vessel. This procedure is needed in various cases whether in an ordinary or emergency. Every person has a different difficulty level thus a nurse usually encountered a problem when locating the position of vein vessel. A visualization device that able to work in realtime and have high mobility is really necessary for an emergency situation to speed up the intravenous access. In this study, a stand-alone veins visualization system was developed. The back-projection method that can adjust based on distance was used to speed up the visualization process. The distance between the device and the object is obtained by an ultrasonic distance sensor. The results of this projection method with a flat surface have maximum shift of 0.48 mm. While on various surfaces, projection shifts under 0.9 mm reach 89% from 140 measurement points. Projection shifts that reach more than 0.9 mm occurred due to the sensor readings are on steep curvature or large angles between segments and sensors.

Abstract

The paper deals with the problem of ranking alternatives to geodynamic monitoring systems in the case of uncertainty of their implementation time. The problem is characterized by the fact that the choice of alternatives and the effect of it depends on the quality properties of the applied organizational and technical solutions, taking into account the time of implementation. The ordering of alternatives is proposed taking into account the uncertainty of the implementation time factors. Ranking is realized by comparing the trees of functional characteristics of alternatives taking into account the compliance of their characteristics with time-varying requirements. The scope of the proposed method is the choice of configurations of geodynamic monitoring systems with significant differences in the implementation time of alternatives.

Abstract

ATM Skimming is a major concern that needs to be addressed with a specific solution. ATM Skimming is done in two steps. One is stealing the Personal Information that is stored on the Debit card / Credit card using Rain cover connected to the card reader slot (ATM’s real card slot). The second is installing a Fake keypad that can capture the pin code when the card holder enters pin details. Few researchers have proposed solutions to address the issue using Image Processing techniques. However, it does not provide a complete solution in a long term. Hence it is of paramount importance to provide ATM with high security features. In order to solve the issue of ATM Skimming, An Embedded System design is proposed. The research is carried out in two phases. One is detection phase and the second is Prevention Phase. In the detection phase, Hardware components such as Arduino Mega, Force Sensing Resistor (FSR), GPS, GSM and Buzzer are used. Arduino Mega acts as a Central Processor that processes the information received from Force sensing resistor (FSR) and send SMS Messages to ROP and Bank Officials using GSM and informing them about the ATM Location using GPS where the Fraud is taking place. Buzzer can be used at the ATM Locations to alert nearby people. In the prevention Phase, as a preventive measure a Onetime password (OTP) technique is used. If a fraudster somehow succeeds in Fixing fake key pad and Rain Cover at ATM’s real card slot, When he tries to insert debit card, An OTP will be generated and is sent to the Card Holder which in turn he can know someone is trying to make Transactions and quickly he can ask bank officials to Block his account and inform ROP about the same. Expected findings of the proposed work is to detect  Fake keypads and Fake card readers using FSR placed at the edges of Original Keypad and card reader slot. Sending messages to ROP, BANK OFFICIALS and CARD HOLDER using GSM. ATM locations are identified using GPS. Buzzers are used to alert nearby people.

Abstract

In a fermentation process, dissolved oxygen is the one of the key process variables that needs to be controlled because of the effect they have on the product quality. In a penicillin production, dissolved oxygen concentration influenced biomass concentration. In this paper, multilayer perceptron neural network (MLP) and Radial Basis Function (RBF) neural network is used in modeling penicillin fermentation process. Process data from an industrial scale fed-batch bioreactor is used in developing the models with dissolved oxygen and penicillin concentration as the outputs. RBF neural network model gives better accuracy than MLP neural network. The model is further used in fuzzy logic controller design to simulate control of dissolved oxygen by manipulation of aeration rate.  Simulation result shows that the fuzzy logic controller can control the dissolved oxygen based on the given profile.

Abstract

The questions and problems of the formation of knowledge bases of intelligent man-machine decision support systems are considered. The neuron-fuzzy model used in the work is described. The need for increasing the efficiency of the neuron-fuzzy model in the formation of knowledge bases is being updated. The task is to develop methods and algorithms for presetting and optimizing the parameters of a fuzzy neural network. To solve difficult formalized tasks, it is necessary to develop decision support systems - expert systems based on a knowledge base. ES developers are constantly faced with the problems of “extraction” and formalization of knowledge, as well as the search for new ways to obtain it. To do this, use the extraction, acquisition and formation of knowledge. Currently, the formation of knowledge bases is relevant for the creation of hybrid technologies - fuzzy neural networks that combine the advantages of neural network models and fuzzy systems. The analysis of the efficiency of the fuzzy neural network carried out in the work showed that the quality of training of the NN largely depends on the choice of the number of fuzzy granules for input drugs. In addition, to use fuzzy information formalized by the mathematical apparatus of fuzzy logic, procedures are required for selecting optimal forms and presetting the parameters of the corresponding membership functions (MF).

Abstract

With the advent of several new cloud radio access network (C-RAN) technologies, today’s networking environment is dramatically altered and is experiencing a rapid transformation. One of the most important is ethernet based C-RAN, in support of which many products such as optical Ethernet switches have recently appeared on the market. This paper presents the performance analysis of such switches with respect to packet loss ratio (PLR), latency and packet delay variation (PDV). We employed the Simula based on discrete event modelling on Simula (DEMOS), a context class for discrete event simulation to simulate a cut-through optical ethernet switch under two types of traffics: high priority (HP) traffic and low priority (LP) traffic. In this way, the paper evaluates the optical Ethernet switch performance quantitatively. The results obtained from the simulator showed that the high quality of service was reflected on HP traffic and the low quality of service in LP traffic. Hence, HP traffic can be used for transporting radio over ethernet (RoE) traffic while LP traffic can used for transporting time insensitive application. It is also found that HP traffic experiences a PDV equals to the duration of maximum sized LP traffic in Optical Ethernet switch.

Abstract

This paper describes the integration of mobile IP in mobile ad hoc network (MIPMANET) in large area network (LAN) between 8 nodes, where latency, delay, throughput is considered for the quality of service (QoS) consideration. For the best result of MIPMANET, the Dynamic Source Routing Protocol (DSR) and Optimized Link State Routing Protocol (OLSR) are considered. Although MANET has other routing protocols, the DSR performs better in MIPMANET integration in NS2. Mobile IP is applied for doing the dynamic topology to static topology as the nodes are flexible in an ad-hoc network. Simulation result suggests that the MANET performs better in DSR with MIP as the amount of packet drop is low and throughput is high

Abstract

In this work, a speed controlled, the programmable, low-cost, high-efficiency spin coating system is designed and implemented. The system is built from commercially available hard disk drivers DC motor, vacuum pump, speed sensor, brushless driver circuit carries Toshiba's TB6575FNG IC, PIC18F47J53 Microcontroller and using the interactive user interface to communicate with a user. Three different voltage stages and pulse width modulation techniques were used to guarantee accurate spinning speed and time. This system provides a wide range of precise and stable multi-step speeds rang of 1500 to 8,000 rpm. To evaluate the implemented system, ZnO thin films have been deposited by the sol-gel method on a glass substrate. Homogenous and uniform thickness films were obtained. The outstanding features of this system are the stability, accuracy, low energy consumption and durability, and the simplicity of adjusting multi-step spinning speed and time by using the interactive user interface.

Abstract

Radio Frequency (RF) spectrum, which is a limited resource, is facing the challenge of fulfilling the need of ever-growing users. To accommodate these users in an efficient manner, the idea of Cognitive Radio (CR) was proposed. It allows unlicensed users to use the licensed bands when the primary user is not using its band. To check the availability of the free spectrum, the system should be able to sense the RF environment around it, thus spectrum sensing becomes an important aspect of CR. In this work, the Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used to determine the periodic sensing schedule to maximize the number of transmission opportunities for unlicensed band users as well as to minimize interference with licensed users. This optimization scheme generates a maximum number of transmission opportunities with minimum interruption to the licensed user’s communication. The MATLAB software is used for simulation.
