Abstract

Currently, breast cancer is one of the most common cancers and a main reason of women death worldwide particularly in developing countries such as Iraq. our work aims to predict the type of tumor whether benign or malignant through models that were built using logistic regression and neural networks and we hope it will help doctors in detecting the type of breast tumor. Four models were set using binary logistic regression and two different types of artificial neural networks namely multilayer perceptron MLP and radial basis function RBF. Evaluation of validated and trained models was done using several performance metrics like accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and AUC (area under receiver operating characteristic ROC).   Dataset was downloaded from UCI ml repository; it is composed of 9 attributes and 699 samples. The findings are clearly showing that the RBF NN classifier is the best in prediction of the type of breast tumors since it had recorded the highest performance in terms of correct classification rate (accuracy), sensitivity, specificity, and AUC (area under Receiver Operating Characteristic ROC) among all other models.

Abstract

In this paper, a new analytical method is developed for solving linear and non-linear fractional-order coupled systems of incommensurate orders. The system consists of two fractional-order differential equations of orders . The proposed approach is performed by decoupling the system into two fractional-order differential equations; the first one is a fractional-order differential equation (FoDE) of one variable of order , while the second one depends on the solution of the first one. The general solution of the coupled system is obtained using the adomian decomposition method (ADM). The main ideas of this work are verified via several examples of linear and nonlinear systems, and the numerical simulations are performed using Mathematica.

Abstract

Today’s healthcare system can be characterised using the up-and-coming integral component of mobility management of wireless body area networks (WBANs). In general, remote sensor nodes of WBAN are positioned on the body of a subject. Meanwhile, recommendations for specific proxy mobile IPv6 (PMIP) approaches have emerged, but its comparatively unfeasible nature in terms of group mobility management with regards to WBAN. Therefore, it shows a likelihood for expansive registration and handover interruptions. Thus, this work offered an alternative aimed at curbing such restrictions via an enhanced group mobility management method. The approach underlined the integration of authentication, authorisation, and accounting (AAA) services into the local mobility anchor (LMA) as another option for independent practice. Moreover, the proxy binding update (PBU) and AAA inquiry messages were consolidated, whereas the AAA response and proxy binding acknowledge (PBA) message were amalgamated. The resulting outcomes depicted the proposed method’s superior performance in comparison with the current PMIP approaches in the context of registration delay time, handover interruption, and average signalling cost.

Abstract

The research in wireless communication has developed rapidly for the last decades as a result of raising the demand for efficient data transmission with more security and accuracy. This paper proposed a system based on the special multiplexing (SM) technique and linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) detection method with the assistance of the hamming code as well as the interleaving techniques for a better enhanced performance of an audio transmission. Moreover, the comparison was done between the two systems for different antenna configurations and with the presence of two types of modulation: binary phase shift key and quateradure phase shift key. These systems are employed by Matlab simulation to show significant results in terms of enhancing the Rayleigh fading channel capacity, bit error rate (BER) and security as well as in recovering the transmitting audio signals. Each system has advantages than the others in one performance term respect to the other terms. The Simulation results have provided to prove and discuss our analysis.

Abstract

The continuous use of fossil fuels for decades in electricity generation has led to dire environmental consequences. This has fostered the incorporation of variable renewable energy resources (RES) to improve the environmental outlook and minimize emissions. This paper presents an approach for the dispatch of a minigrid considering variable solar photovoltaic (PV) generation. Due to the variability of the solar irradiance received from the sun during daytime only, solar irradiance is modeled as a stochastic random variable that is fitted into a Beta probability density function (PDF). The minigrid dispatch problem, modeled using stochastic optimization, is then approximated into a linear equivalent to become a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) problem that can be solved efficiently. The proposed approach is implemented on the modified IEEE 14-bus test system to verify its capability in solving the minigrid dispatch under various test case scenarios.

Abstract

The objective of this work is to solve the power scheduling problems for efficient energy management by assigning the optimal values. Artificial neural networks are used widely in the field of energy management and load scheduling. The  backpropagation technique is used for the feed-forward neural network training and the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is used to minimize the errors. The slow speed of convergence and getting stuck in local minima are some negatives of   backpropagation in complex computation. To overcome these drawbacks an innovative meta-heuristicsearch algorithm called modified artificial bee colony optimization algorithm is used. A hybrid neural network is introduced in this work.  The simulation result shows that the efficiency of the systemis improved when hybrid optimization is used. With this method, the system achieves an optimalaccuracy of 99.23%

Abstract

The nonlinear characteristics and intense credence dependence of photovoltaic (PV) panel on the solar irradiance and ambient temperature demonstrate important challenges for researchers in the PV panel topic. To overcome these problems, the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller is needed which can improve the PV panel efficiency. In other words, for maximum efficiency, the MPPT controller can help to extract the optimal and overall available output power from the PV panel at different output load conditions. Fuzzy logic (FL) is one of the strongest techniques in the extracting of MPP in the PV panel since it has several advantages; robust; no requirement to have an accurate mathematical model, and works with imprecise inputs. Therefore, in this paper, fuzzy logic (FL-MPPT) has been designed and simulated to improve dynamic performance PV panel at different solar irradiance and then increased the efficiency. Therefore, "MATLAB/Simulink software" has been used to build the proposed algorithm and the simulation results have been adequate as well. Besides, a robust FL-MPPT algorithm has been presented with high dynamic performance under different weather conditions. Finally, the proposed algorithm has a quicker response and less oscillatory comparison of the conventional algorithms in the subject of extracting the maximum PV power.
