Abstract

In this article, the job shop scheduling problem was solved, which is considered as an NP - Hard problem, so it is difficult to solve. The proposed algorithm consists in the combination and adaptation of the nearest neighbor meta heuristics and iterated local search (ILS) to find optimal solutions. The proposed algorithm was evaluated by comparing the results with those presented in different instances and sizes of the literature. The results of the proposed method were close in high percentages to the best re sults and averages obtained by other methods in the literature and in some cases, they were improved. The above represents the feasibility of a new combination of efficient methods in solving task scheduling problems.

Abstract

A compact dual wideband bandpass filter for automotive radar (AR) and 5G millimeter-wave (mmWave) applications with adjustable bandwidths is presented in this work. The filter is based on microstrip dual-mode edge-coupled stub-loaded resonators (SLR). The novelty of this configuration is that it allows independent control of the bandwidths which is not obvious for many reported SLR-based filters. To achieve an overall size of 1.23λ_g× 2.02λ_g, these resonators are coupled and bent int o U-shape, T-shape, and E-shape. The U-shaped resonator, based on a quarter-wavelength transmission line, is coupled to the T-shaped element which constitutes the main feed line to obtain the dual-band response. Having a symmetrical structure, the design i s studied using the even-odd mode analysis. The layout is made using the Ansys high-frequency structural simulator (HFSS) and fabricated on Rogers RO3010 with a thickness of 1.28 mm, a dielectric constant of 10.2, and a loss tangent of 0.0022. The measured bandwidths are 660 MHz and 880 MHz at central frequencies of 23.92 GHz and 28.38 GHz respectively. The measured insertion losses are less than 3.9 dB and the return losses are greater than 17 dB in both bands. A good agreement is obtained between simulate d and experimental results.

Abstract

Harmony search algorithm (HSA) is relatively considered as one of the most recent metaheuristic algorithms. HSA is a modern - nature algorithm that simulates the musicians’ natural process of musical improvisation to enhance their instrument’s note to find a state of pleasant (harmony) according to aesthetic standards. Lots of variants of HSA have been suggested to tackle combinatorial optimization problems. They range from hybridizing some components of other metaheuristic approaches (to improve the HSA) to taking some concepts of HSA and utilizing them to improve other metaheuristic methods. This stud y reviews research pertaining to parameter settings of HSA and its applications to efficiently solve hard combinatorial optimization problems.

Abstract

Some classic machine translation (MT) Evaluation methods, such as the bilingual evaluation understudy score (BLEU), have notably underperformed in evaluating machine translations for morphologically rich languages like Arabic. However, the recent remarkable advancements in the domain of word vectors and sentence vectors have opened up new research avenues for low-resource languages. This paper proposes a novel linguistic-based evaluation method for English-translated sentences in Arabic. The proposed approach includes penalties based on length, positions, and context-based schemes such as part-of-speech tagging (POS) and multilingual sentenceBERT (SBERT) models for machine translation evaluation. The proposed technique is tested using pearson correlation as a performance evaluation parameter and compared with state-of-the-art techniques. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model evidently outperforms other MT evaluation methods such as BLEU.
