Abstract

Due to the advantages of a self-excited induction generator (SEIG), it plays a main role in sources of renewable energy, such as wind turbines (WT). The regulation of terminal voltage and frequency is poor under variable rotor speed and load conditions at stand-alone operation mode. The generator terminal voltage depends on the excitation capacitance which can be controlled by a capacitor bank and static voltage compensator. The dynamical model of the machine is described by differential equations in D-Q axes transformations of the synchronously rotating frame. Many models of analysis are proposed in the literature. In those models, several approximations are used to simplify the process of calculations, such as neglecting the iron core resistance, stray load resistance, stator and rotor leakage reactance, and magnetic saturation. In this work, a comprehensive dynamic model of the SEIG-WT is performed to analyze the system performance under transient and steady-state conditions. This dynamic model considers the effect of all machine parameters variation. New analytical formulas are used for to accurate calculation of minimum and maximum values of excitation capacitance and generator rotor cut-off and maximum speed. The dynamic model results are partially compared with experimental results, and accurate agreement is shown.

Abstract

Rooftop photovoltaic (PV) plant is one ot the independent electricity that us favorable in recent year. Rooftop PV plant can be used as the source of smart building as well as fast charging station. Although rooftop PV plant could provide clean and sustainable energy from solar, they also come with disadvantages in term of intermittent power output. This intermittent power output is due to the uncertainty of the source. To tackle this problem, maximum power point tracking method is essential. Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) method can be used to extract maximum power from the solar cell in all conditions. This paper proposes an intelligent method for designing DC-DC MPPT based on fruit fly optimization (FFO) on realistic rooftop PV plant. Practical rooftop PV plant in Universitas Airlangga is employed as the testing system. The proposed method's efficacy is evaluated using time domain simulation. According to the simulation results, the proposed method can significantly extract power from PV.

Abstract

Enhancement and color correction of images play an important role and can be considered as one of the fundamental and basic operations in image analysis for the purpose of speeding up the diagnosis of the medical images. Improving the quality and contrast of the medical image is the basic requirement for clinicians for obtaining an accurate and accurate medical diagnosis. Thus, getting a clear X-ray image reduces the effort and time-wasting. In this study a new idea will be applied for improving image contrast of the collected COVID-19 X-ray images, this idea is based on using Wiener filter, multilevel of histogram equalization (HE) technique with OpenCV library and then using contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE) techniques with OpenCV library. The proposed methodology programmed in MATLAB software and then implemented using Rasperry Pi 3 model B. The size and resolution of images are different as inputted images and this difference succeeded in proving the strength of the proposed idea. The collected X-ray images have undergone experiential evaluations which clearly showed the effective performance of the proposed methodology.

Abstract

Web engineering is a growing multidisciplinary paradigm that has hardly begun to curiosity the interest, researchers, and other key actors involved in developing web-based systems. Therefore, the effect of web engineering applications on e-learning systems should be investigated to guarantee that the web’s potential for supporting the learning process is appropriately used. The objective of the study highlights the advantages, benefits, and contributions of web engineering in developing e-learning systems. This is qualitative research. The primary data was collected via an in-depth study of pertinent research studies. The second tool was an interview with the e-learning systems developers. The results showed that the most influential web engineering tools to develop e-learning systems. Moreover, the main areas of development of e-learning systems include changing the learning environment characteristics, changing student behaviour, changing roles, and incorporating artificial intelligence (AI). The results also showed that web applications' main challenges in e-learning systems include technologies, adaptability, lack of experience and training, lack of funding, changing student preferences and needs, the gap between the mobile and computer versions, and security threats, job-overload, and time. It was found that web engineering has a significant role in developing e-learning applications.
