Abstract

Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are an emerging multidisciplinary intersection of cutting-edge research fields, and their advantages in terms of freedom of formation, high signal-to-noise ratio, high strength, and unattended, which makes WSN have good prospects for application in the field of internet of things (IoT). Considering all the benefits that WSN offer, this paper reviews the development history of wireless sensor networks internet of things (WSN-IoT), analyses the technologies used by sensors in the IoT, and illustrates the future developing patterns and remaining challenges, in conjunction with the main technologies in the perception layer of the current network of things industry.

Abstract

This research presents a small, compact microstrip patch antenna of multi-band antenna. The multi-band antenna can be scaled to higher frequencies, making it possibly useful in 5G applications. The antenna is made up of asymmetric scalene triangles slots on the right side of the patch, which is provided by the reference patch antenna. The modes of antenna, patch and slots are excited to obtain four bands. The antenna design is 25×25×1.4 mm3 resonant at 3.93 GHz, 4.25 GHz, 5.37 GHz, and 6.18 GHz. The simulated design shows a peak gain of 4.44 dB at 3.93 GHz, 5.63 dB at 4.25 GHz, 5.91 dB at 5.37 GHz and 5.2 dB at 6.18 GHz. The total efficiency at 3.93 GHz and 4.25 GHz is -1.152 dB and -0.5174 dB, at 5.37 GHz and 6.18 GHz shows a total efficiency of -0.535 dB and -0.566 dB. Finally, the antenna is fabricated and measured. A good agreement shown between measurements and fabrication in terms of return loss.

Abstract

In the current scenarios most of the business growth comes from the user experience, while using the business applications. Any enterprise network performance depends on the fundamental process of securely serving the user with applications. The network usage patterns have completely changed from just data transfer, voice, and video transmissions to serving entire applications over the networks. With all the modern applications served over the private and public clouds the network resources utilization must be optimized and take full advantage of them which is not possible with current network architectures. The enterprises are currently shifting towards software defined implementation due to many reasons like consistent policy application across the network, run time analytics for troubleshooting the problems and making the network cloud computing ready. Software defined approaches provide centralized security monitoring and control, user data and identity-based segmentation over the network, dynamic recovery from network infrastructure failure and finally virtualization of almost everything. This paper is an overview of the functioning of enterprises in the networking perspective along with current software defined approaches being used in enterprise networking which will soon take over the traditional networks by solving the challenges present in the software defined networking.

Abstract

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurological disorder that results in the death of brain cells, causing memory loss, behavioral changes, and cognitive impairment. It drastically affects the individual’s work and social life, often leading to death, and is now the sixth leading cause of mortality worldwide. AD patients have limited mobility, which restricts their movement outside their homes. Thankfully, new internet of things (IoT) applications have made it possible to monitor people with various illnesses in their everyday lives, providing valuable assistance to caregivers. This study aims to create an IoT prototype that can locate an AD patient in real time and remind them to take their medication on schedule via an alarm. The small, lightweight, portable patient carrier has a NodeMCU-23DSP board, a Neo-06 global positioning system (GPS) module, and a wireless modem/Wi-Fi router. Remote patient follow-up through the Blynk 2.0 application on computers and Android devices allows for monitoring of the patient’s medication regimen and daily activities. As AD patients struggle with memory and organization, the prototype’s design enables monitoring of a patient’s course of medication, making it easier for caregivers to provide the necessary assistance. The prototype was tested to demonstrate its efficiency and performance.

Abstract

The paper discusses the design and development of an electronic document management system (EDMS) that prepares documents for sharing and information dissemination. EDMS has to do with capturing, storing, indexing, retrieval, and disposal of documents. The electronic document management system process starts by converting paper document into digital record to efficiently store and organize document in standardized file structure and format, promoting a paper waste reduction in reproducing the document. The EDMS provided an easier way of sharing information with different stakeholders and securing documents according to standardized compliance rules. The developed system has also improved the accessing of vital documents by users since there is real-time information distribution of information and easy searching and retrieving of needed documents.
