Abu Abd al-Rahman Al-Sulamī (d. 412 H) is known as a great Sufi scholar. In the realm of tasawuf, he formulated tasawuf as in al-muqaddimah fi al-tasawwuf and wrote the biographies of the Sufi scholars in his book Thabaqat al-Sufiyyah. The tasawuf review in the form of biography of the Sufi ulama gives a distinctive picture in the process of formulating the concept of tasawuf. On the other hand, although al-Sulamī is known as a tasawuf briliant thinker, in Indonesia, it turns out to be less prestige than his pupil named al-Qusyairi. In fact, al-Sulamī is al-Qusyairi’s teacher who actually has more scientific authority than his pupil. This fact can be caused by many factors, one of which is the lack of information and references to al-Sulamī.

Tarekat Hizib Nahdlatul Wathan Dan Perannya Dalam Perpolitikan Di Lombok M. Rohman Ziadi

Tarekat is a Sufi brotherhood in which it contains and practices sufistic principles. In Sufism,there is a very thick concept, namely zuhud. Zuhud is the emptiness of search, which limits his desire to gain the world. From this it can be seen that the Sufic tradition should be reluctant to desire the world, including politics. However, the Hizib Nahdlatul Wathan as a tarekat appeared to be very active in politics, even the founder and Tarekat murshid Hizib Nahdlatul Wathan became a major driver in politics in Lombok. This is interesting, on the one hand the Hizib Nahdlatul Wathan is a tarekat, but on the other hand it looks very active in the politics of Lombok. Therefore, the authors are interested in studying more about the Hizib Nahdlatul Wathan and its role in politics in Lombok. There are two problem formulations in this article, namely; what is the concept of teaching the Hizib Nahdlatul Wathan Order? What is the religious foundation of the Hizib Nahdlatul Wathan Order in its political activities in Lombok? To answer the two formulations of the problem the author uses a literature review and interview research method. In addition, the author also uses two theories to dissect the formulation of the problem, namely the tarekat theory and the tarekat and political theory of Martin van Bruinessen. The tarekat theory the author uses to answer the first problem statement. While the theory of tarekat and politics of Martin van Bruinessen, the author uses it to answer the problem statement number two.

Religion is one requirement of human life. Since beginning of life, human needs religion as guide to appoint the good conditions. It has many contributions to civilizations such as hopefully to save. Also, it gives solving to many human’s problems. Recently, religion has challenging that is to solve many social conflicts as poverty and fundamentalism thoughts. So, what should religion does? There are two answers. The first, religion has to reinterpret his dogma. The second is religion as future ideology must to solve many human problems.

Struktur Logika Teologi Islam Menurut Van Ess: Sebuah Telaah Kritis Muhammad Arif

Josef van Ess melalui tulisannya “The Logical Structure of Islamic Theology” menyatakan bahwa logika teologi Islam telah banyak mengadopsi logika Yunani kuno, terutama logika Stoic. Menurut penelusuran van Ess, ada banyak kesamaan mencolok antara konsep-konsep dan istilah- istilah yang digunakan dalam teologi Islam dengan logika Stoic. Tidak ayal, van Ess kemudian berkesimpulan bahwa struktur logika teologi Islam sejatinya tidak lain hanyalah derevasi dari bangunan logika Stoic. Pendapat van Ess ini tentu sangat menarik untuk dikaji. Bukankah sejarah mencatat bahwa gaya teologi Islam sejatinya telah dimulai sejak masa Nabi, jauh sebelum Islam bersentuhan dengan tradisi Yunani? Selain itu, apakah dengan mengadopsi konsep dan istilah logika Stoic, lantas bisa dikatakan bahwa struktur logika teologi Islam adalah derevatif? Bukankah konsep dan istilah itu telah digunakan dalam kultur dan konsteks yang sama sekali berbeda? Semua persoalan ini diulas secara sederhana dalam artikel ini.

The social construction of transvestites which has so far been still far from what is expected, transgenders in general often get stereotypes that have long taken root so that they become individuals/groups who are marginalized in society. They tend to be shunned because religion and morality are big questions due to their tendency to like same-sex. This construction is entrenched and to this day, they have not received a proper place and are made as human beings as usual. Related to this, there is a novel called "Perempuan Tanpa V" which tells of transvestites in different perspectives. Because of that the writer wants to study this novel and further find out the construction of transvestites he wants to convey. This study uses Gadamer's hermeneutics approach as an analysis knife. The definition of transvestites in this novel eventually leads to the construction of transvestites who are built more positively, are not discriminatory, and try to break the stereotype of transvestites that has been understood by the community: irregularities and immorality.

This article attempts to outline the concept of power of Michel Foucault based on the major works that he wrote during his lifetime. Foucault asserts that power exists everywhere, especially concerning the relationship between power and discourse of knowledge. Here, for him, the will to truth is the expression of the will to power. It is impossible for the knowledge to be neutral and pure. Therefore, there will be always a correlation between the two matters, i.e. the knowledge contains power, just like the power contains knowledge. This means that power is one dimension of the relation. Where there is a relationship, there is a power.

It is very striking how Javanese Al Hallaj in the text of Suluk Jawa here published, is described as a mystic who propagated the “Science of Reality” to the uninitiated public imitating the conduct of Shaikh Siti Jenar, Sunan Panggung, Ki Bebeluk and Shaikh Amongraga. It is my intention here to discuss this common motif of conflict between traditional Javanese mysticism and orthodox, legalistic Islam, as reflected in these traditions, in order to gain some insight into the motif and significance of the Suluk Jawa.
