Abstract

ABSTRACK Production forest management in Indonesia had been developed using a pattern of forest concessions (IUPHHK) since 1970s. In the development portion has ended a period of concession for 20 years. Forest areas that are not burdened the forest concessions or other rights, then the management is partly handed back to the goverment, and some management handed over by other appliances as Timber Utilization Permit (IPK). In connection with that carried a 0,3% timber cruising activities in the work areas of PT. ? Kalang Murni to obtain details about the condition of the standing stock. According on the analysis results, the standing stock of commercial trees in the group of diameter ? 20 cm contain average number of 25.5 stems/ha and average volume of 15.69 m3/ha, and the standing stock of other timber in the group of diameter ? 20 cm contain average number of 27.3 m3/ha, and average volume of 20.57 m3/ha. With the result that the total standing stock of the tress at the secondary forest of PT. Kalang Murni contain average number of 52.8 stems/ha and and average volume of 36,26 m3 / ha. According to the financial analysis, the Indonesia Strip Cutting and Planting (TJTI) system is suitable applied at the site when the interest rate in the position of 18%, whereas the Clear Cutting and Artificial Regeneration (THPB) system is not suitable at the same of interest rate. Abstract

ABSTRACK Logging activities have an impact on changes in composition and standing structure, tree species distribution, community similarity and species diversity. This study was aimed to determine the diversity of structures and composition of trees at the logged-over forests. Area of study was located at annual Block of 2005, 2010, and 2015 of forest concession (IUPHHK-HA) PT Sarpatim in Central Kalimantan Province. Data was collected at 2017. The results showed that the composition and structure of the stands are ecologically different, which is indicated by the low type of species equality index. The stands at the level of seedlings, sapling, poles and trees from each location are almost all different. But there are some of the same types encountered dominating on the block locations of 2005, 2010 and 2015 such as Shorea leprosula, Dipterocarpus borneensis, Shorea laevis, Litsea sp. The stand density at the 2005 block location is higher than the two sites in 2010 and 2015, while the location of 2015 is the location with the lowest stand density. Keywords Composition, density, diversity, standing structure.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Wood of moon (Fagraea crenulata) and wood of mahang (Macaranga sp.) are not included the commercial timber species, therefore the knowledge regarding chemical properties of their woods are needed in order to provide information for various purposes according to their properties. The research was aimed to know chemical properties of moon wood and mahang wood. The research had been conducted at the laboratory of Forestry Department, University of Palangka Raya since February to March 2017. Research resultd showed that the solubility of moon and mahang woods in the cold water, hot water, 1% NaOH and alcohol benzene are classified as high. According chemical components analysis, their wood are not suitable for pul and paper, because they have some characteristic as follow: holoselulosa is poor, cellulose is low, hemicellulose is middle, and lignin is not good. Meanwhile, wood ash of moon and mahang are classified moderate (range of Indonesia chemical components of broadleaf wood is range start from 0.2 to 6%) with values of them are 0.654% for moon wood and 0.689% for mahang wood. With the result their woods are considered to wood energy utilization. Keywords: chemical component, mahang wood, moon wood, wood energy

Abstract

ABSTRACT Jarenang colouration coming from latex of Jarenang fruit (Daemonorops sp) species that grow well at the low land forest. Generally jerenang colouration has used to colouring wood, stone, vernis, ceramics, paper and paint etc. This substance also can to be used as medicine of dysentery, blood solidification, leather tanner and cosmetics material. The experiment was conducted at the social community group named Silip Rawi that be located at the Bukit Rawi Village, Kahayan Hilir District, Central Kalimantan Province. Silip Rawi group has guided by Science and Technology for Community Program (IbM). This experiment applied jerenang colouration to colouring bamboo as complement material of rattan handicraft. Some stages of this experiment as follow: First, cleaving bamboo and make s.t. thin. Second, colouring the bamboo using colour of red, black, blue ect. Then colored bamboo was dehydrated using sunlight. Finaly, colored bamboo as insertion insert to rattan handicraft to improve quality of them. Colored bamboo create the motif of line, curve, numeral, figure, scribal of personal or group name, village nama, city name etc. at the rattan handicraft to raise the sale price. Keynotes: Bamboo, colouring, jarenang, rattan handicraft.
