Abstract

In the digital era, the use of technology in learning evaluation is a necessity to improve the efficiency and objectivity of assessment. This research aims to develop a passing grade-based e-assessment application that allows automatic assessment of student exam results. The system is designed to provide real-time feedback and increase transparency in the academic evaluation process. Application development is carried out using the Agile Software Development approach, which allows for iterative software development with continuous updates based on user feedback. The case study was conducted in the Software Engineering Technology Study Program at the Batam State Polytechnic to test the effectiveness of the system in improving the quality of learning evaluation. The test results show that this application is able to increase the efficiency of the assessment process by reducing the time of manual exam correction and increasing accuracy in grading. Then the passing grade system helps students to understand the achievement of their competencies more clearly and encourages them to improve their understanding of lecture materials. With the implementation of this application, it is hoped that educational institutions can adopt a more flexible and adaptive technology-based evaluation system. The results of this research can be used as a reference in the development of e-assessment systems in other academic environments.

Abstract

Visually impaired students often face challenges in accessing text- and visual-based learning materials, particularly in Management Information Systems (MIS) courses, which heavily rely on diagrams and tables. This study aims to develop an audio-based learning application as a more accessible alternative, focusing on enhancing students’ understanding of MIS content. The application was developed using the Design Thinking approach, which includes five stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Visually impaired students were directly involved in the design and testing process to ensure the application meets their specific needs. The results indicate that the developed application significantly improves students' comprehension, with an average post-test score increase of 32% compared to the pre-test (from 58 to 90). Moreover, the use of audio-based technology enhances independent learning, reduces reliance on external assistance, and provides a more inclusive learning experience. The effectiveness of the Design Thinking approach is reflected in a user satisfaction rate of 92%, demonstrating that this method successfully delivered a relevant and adaptive solution. This study is expected to serve as a reference for the development of more inclusive learning technologies for students with special needs, particularly those with visual impairments.

Abstract

This research was conducted at Horizon University of Indonesia in order to implement the Global Workplaces English Program (GWEP), which encourages the development of students' foreign language skills through technology integration. Duolingo, as one of the digital language learning applications, is widely used by students to support this programme. The purpose of this study is to analyse the level of user acceptance of Duolingo using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), which involves the constructs of Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU), Perceived Usefulness (PU), Attitude Toward Use (ATU), and Behavioral Intention to Use (BIU). Data were collected through a survey of 152 active Duolingo users, and analysed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression approaches. Descriptive results showed that all constructs had an average score above 4 (Likert scale 1-5), reflecting positive perceptions of the ease of use and usefulness of the app. Linear regression analysis showed that PEOU and PU had a significant effect on ATU, with coefficients of 0.508 and 0.447, respectively, and R² = 0.857. That is, 85.7% of the variation in user attitudes can be explained by perceived ease and usefulness. These findings provide strategic implications for educational institutions and application developers in optimising the use of digital technology for foreign language learning in the global era.

Abstract

Abstract

An effective intern selection process requires an objective and systematic approach to decision-making, especially when it involves multiple assessment criteria. This study proposes a combined approach of RAM-MEREC, which is a combination of Method based on Removal Effects of Criteria (MEREC) and Root Assessment Method (RAM), as a method to improve accuracy and reliability in the best internal selection. MEREC is used to objectively determine the weight of criteria based on the impact of the elimination of each criterion on the overall outcome. Meanwhile, RAM is used to generate alternative rankings by considering the root impact of value changes on each candidate's performance. The results of the application of this method show that RAM-MEREC is able to provide a more representative weighting and a more stable and consistent final ranking. The results of the application of this method show that RAM-MEREC is able to provide a more representative weighting and a more stable and consistent final ranking. The results of the calculation of the total score of all alternatives using the evaluation method that has been determined, obtained that Alternative 10 is the best candidate with the highest score of 1.4378, followed by Alternative 6 with a score of 1.4375 and Alternative 3 with a score of 1.4375. This approach not only improves the quality of decision-making, but also minimizes subjectivity and bias in the selection process.
