Abstract

This study aims to determine the direct influence of factors that can drive business digitalization among SMEs (Small, and Medium Enterprises) and the indirect influence using the COVID-19 pandemic as a mediator in East Java, Indonesia. These factors include experience, education, and digital literacy. This research is quantitative, with samples taken from the northern, southern, western, and eastern regions of East Java Province. The sample size consists of 120 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Smart PLS-4 application, following stages of outer model testing, inner model testing, and hypothesis testing. The results indicate that experience does not have a direct positive effect on business digitalization, while education and digital literacy both have a direct positive impact on business digitalization. In the indirect effect test with the COVID-19 pandemic as a mediating variable, it was found that experience, education, and digital literacy all have a significant positive impact on business digitalization when mediated by the COVID-19 pandemic. These findings can be utilized by policymakers to promote increased business digitalization, which will foster the growth of SMEs in East Java.

Abstract

This study analyzes the factors that influence the Price Earnings Ratio of the 20 largest Islamic banks in the world from 11 different countries during the period 2019-2023. Using the panel data regression method, this study investigates the effect of Return on Equity, Return on Assets, Price to Book Value, Dividend Payout Ratio, Debt to Equity Ratio, and Bank Size on PER. The results show that PBV and DPR have a significant positive effect on PER, while ROE, ROA, DER, and SIZE do not show a significant effect. These findings highlight the importance of book value and dividend policy in investors' assessment of Islamic banks, as well as revealing the unique complexities in Islamic bank valuation that are not always in line with conventional finance theory. This study provides valuable insights for investors, analysts, and policymakers in understanding the dynamics of Islamic bank valuation in the global market, and emphasizes the need to consider non-financial factors such as sharia compliance in investment analysis.

Abstract

The management of personal finances among youth has become increasingly important due to changes in contemporary lifestyles. This study thoroughly examines the influences of a hedonism lifestyle, frugal living, and family financial education on personal financial management, with financial literacy serving as a moderating variable among Generation Z students at public universities in Malang City. Through the application of a quantitative methodology, data were amassed via the distribution of questionnaires to the collegiate populace. The data scrutiny was executed employing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) via SmartPLS version 4 on a sample of 135 participants. The results indicate that a hedonism lifestyle exerts a negative yet statistically insignificant influence on personal financial management, whereas frugal living and family financial education demonstrate a significant positive impact. Financial literacy fails to function as an effective moderator in the relationships between hedonism lifestyle, frugal living, and family financial education concerning personal financial management. These findings highlight the imperative for the formulation of more comprehensive financial education programs aimed at empowering students to enhance their financial management proficiencies.
