Abstract

Acute respiratory infections are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality due to infectious diseases worldwide. Nearly 4 million people die from acute respiratory infections each year, 98% of which are caused by lower respiratory infections. ARI cases are a concern because they can have serious impacts on the health and development of young children. Although the Pagar Alam City Health Center has made various efforts in prevention and treatment, such as immunization and health education, many ARI cases are still not properly addressed. This indicates the need for a deeper understanding of the factors related to the incidence of ARI in young children in the health center environment. The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between immunization status, maternal knowledge, and household occupancy density together with the incidence of ARI in young children at the Gunung Dempo Health Center in Pagar Alam City in 2023. The growth of acute respiratory infection cases in South Sumatra Province over the last three years has been significant, as seen in the data: 25,366 cases in 2020, 32,336 cases in 2021, and 519,167 cases in 2022. The method used is cross-sectional with independent data collection to find the relationship between ARI-related factors. The study results show an influence between maternal knowledge and the incidence of ARI, with an odds ratio of 11.66. This indicates that maternal knowledge affects the incidence of ARI, with a Chi-Square p-value result (0.000 < 0.050). ARI incidence is higher in children with incomplete immunization status at 26.7%, and in households with poor occupancy density at 25.8%. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that maternal knowledge, immunization status, and occupancy density are related to the occurrence of ARI cases in young children..

Abstract

Lower back pain is a frequent symptom during pregnancy, often worsening as the pregnancy progresses. The shifting center of gravity, hormonal changes, and increased weight gain associated with pregnancy can contribute to lower back pain and discomfort. While pharmacological interventions are sometimes necessary, there is growing interest in non-pharmacological approaches that may provide relief without potential side effects. Counter pressure is a type of massage that uses your fists to apply constant pressure to the patient's spine during compression. Anti-stress information can also be applied to the lower back in a straight or circular motion. Back compression techniques can relieve back pain during labor contractions. Objective to determine the level of labor pain in the first stage of the active phase of labor in women giving birth at the Rappang Health Center in Sidrap Regency before back massage is carried out with the counter pressure technique. To find out labor pain in the first stage of the active phase of labor in women giving birth at the Rappang Health Center, Sidrap Regency, after doing back massage using a counter pressure technique. The type of research used is pseudo- or quasy-experimental research with a Two-Group Posttest Only design. The relaxation technique obtained a mean rank of 18.25, while the group that underwent counter pressure obtained a value of 6.75. So the average pain in the group that only got the relaxation technique was higher than that done with masse counter pressure with a p value (0.000) <0.05 so it can be concluded that counter pressure massage is effective in reducing pain intensity in laboring mothers. There is an influence of the Counter Pressure massage technique to reduce the intensity of labor pain during the first active phase at the Rappang Health Center, Sidrap Regency. Counter pressure could potentially be a useful technique for managing labor pain.

Abstract

Anxiety is a common experience during pregnancy and can have significant implications for both the mother's health and the developing fetus. One factor that can contribute to maternal anxiety is exposure to information. The vast amount of information available to pregnant women through various sources, such as books, websites, and social media, can be overwhelming and confusing. Furthermore, the quality and accuracy of information available online can vary widely. This can make it difficult for pregnant women to determine which sources are reliable and trustworthy. As a result, they may become overwhelmed with doubt and uncertainty, leading to increased anxiety. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between exposure to information and the level of anxiety of pregnant women. The study used a descriptive cross-sectional correlation design using the Pregnancy Anxiety Questionnaire-Revised for All Pregnant Women Regardless of Parity (PRAQ-R2). The sample used 80 respondents using consecutive sampling technique. Data analysis using Chi Square test. The results showed that information exposure including exposure to information (p=0.01), confidence in information (p=0.009), and information support (0.021) were associated with the level of anxiety of pregnant women. This study highlights the importance of providing clear, accurate, and supportive information to pregnant women to help reduce anxiety and promote positive mental health outcomes.

Abstract

Back pain is a frequent and often debilitating symptom experienced by pregnant women during their third trimester. As the fetus grows and the woman's center of gravity shifts forward, the strain on the lower back can increase significantly. This can lead to discomfort, pain, and limited mobility. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of Balasana (child pose) in alleviating back pain for pregnant women in Kediri Community Health Center 1. Thirty pregnant women experiencing back pain participated in the study. A one-group pretest-posttest design was employed, with pain levels assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). Participants performed Balasana as an intervention, followed by a post-intervention pain assessment. The results of the Wilcoxon signed-rank test revealed a significant reduction in back pain levels following the intervention (p = 0.000 < α = 0.05). This suggests that Balasana is an effective strategy for managing back pain in pregnant women. The findings of this study highlight the potential benefits of yoga and mindfulness practices in addressing pregnancy-related discomforts. It is recommended that pregnant women explore various relaxation techniques, including Balasana, to alleviate back pain and promote overall well-being during pregnancy. Balasana has demonstrated effectiveness in reducing back pain among pregnant women. This study underscores the importance of incorporating relaxation techniques into prenatal care to improve the overall comfort and well-being of pregnant individuals.

Abstract

The escalating population of Indonesia is a pressing demographic challenge, contributing to a surge in the birth rate. Long-Term Contraceptive Methods (LTCM) offer a viable strategy for postponing and spacing pregnancies, thereby mitigating the adverse effects of population growth. However, LTCM utilization among women in the Glugur Health Center, Medan, remains notably low at 26.9%, indicating a significant gap in contraceptive access and adoption. To elucidate the factors influencing LTCM utilization, this study employed a cross-sectional research design. Data collection involved in-depth interviews with women residing within the Glugur Health Center's catchment area. The gathered data were subjected to rigorous analysis using univariate and bivariate statistical techniques. The findings revealed a strong correlation between Age (p=0,013; OR= 0,353), education (p=0.002; OR=3.594), the number of children (p=0.021; OR=2.545), knowledge (p=0.000; OR=4.278), attitudes (p=0.000; OR=10,818), source of information (p=0.017; OR=2,600), spouse's support (p=0.009; OR=3,135) and support of the health workers (p=0.028; OR=2.527) with LTCM utilization. The study's results underscore the critical role of comprehensive education and support in promoting LTCM adoption. Health officials and the Glugur Health Center should prioritize implementing targeted interventions to enhance women's knowledge and address any misconceptions regarding LTCM. Furthermore, fostering supportive environments, both within families and healthcare settings, is essential for encouraging consistent LTCM use. By addressing these key determinants, policymakers can significantly increase LTCM uptake and contribute to sustainable population growth in Indonesia.

Abstract

Hypnobreastfeeding, a relaxation technique that incorporates positive affirmations, has emerged as a promising strategy for enhancing milk production in postpartum women. By inducing a state of deep relaxation and focusing the mind on positive thoughts, hypnobreastfeeding can stimulate the release of prolactin and oxytocin, hormones crucial for milk synthesis and letdown. This study aimed to investigate the impact of hypnobreastfeeding on breastfeeding expenditure in postpartum women at UPTD Pahandut Health Center. A pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach was used. This design involved measuring participants' outcomes before and after the intervention, allowing for an assessment of any changes that occurred. The total sample size consisted of 36 individuals. The results of the study demonstrated a significant increase in milk production among the participants (p-value = 0.000). This suggests that hypnobreastfeeding can be an effective tool for augmenting milk supply, particularly for women facing challenges in breastfeeding. Hypnobreastfeeding offers a promising approach for increasing milk production in postpartum women. The findings of this study suggest that it can be a valuable tool for supporting breastfeeding and promoting the health and well-being of both mother and infant.

Abstract

Anemia, a prevalent health condition among adolescents, can significantly impair cognitive function and academic performance. Iron deficiency, a primary cause of anemia in young females, arises from insufficient intake of iron, vitamin B12, and folic acid, essential for erythropoiesis. The reduction in hemoglobin levels associated with iron deficiency leads to diminished oxygen delivery to tissues, compromising cellular metabolism and cognitive development. Consequently, individuals with anemia may exhibit decreased work productivity and difficulty concentrating. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between anemia and academic achievement among female students at Baitul Hikmah Tempurejo Vocational School. A cross-sectional correlational design was employed, with a population of 43 Class XII female students. Simple random sampling was used to select 39 participants using the Slovin formula. Data analysis was conducted using the chi-square test. Findings revealed that 61.5% of the female students were anemic, while 38.5% were not. Additionally, 66.7% of the students failed to meet academic standards, compared to 33.3% who passed. Statistical analysis using the chi-square test indicated a weak correlation between anemia and learning achievement (p = 0.005). The study suggests a minimal association between anemia and academic performance among female students at Baitul Hikmah Tempurejo Vocational School. It is recommended that these students enhance their understanding of the potential impact of anemia on their studies.
