Abstract

Marine fish commodities in Indonesia, both exported and imported, have experienced a significant increase. This increase opens up opportunities for the risk of entry and spread of fish pests and diseases, both on an export scale between countries and between areas within Indonesia. One of the pathogens that is acute that can cause major losses is the virus. The virus that often attacks sea water ornamental fish is Viral haemorrhagic septicemia. The purpose of this study was to detect the presence of VHSV that infects marine ornamental fish commodities using namely: necropsy, fixation, extraction, amplification, and reading of results. This research was conducted at Fish Quarantine Inspection Agency Denpasar, Bali. Based on the test results, VHS was found to attack six samples of marine fish species with codes namely NTC, BC 8.2, BC 9.2, BAR 8.2, 1252, NSR 8.2.

Abstract

Sendang Biru beach is facing directly to the Indian Ocean, an area with abundant fishing potential. People working as fisherman make Sendang Biru is a fishing ground. Fishing ports play an important role in the development of every activity related to fisheries, especially capture fisheries. The fishing port is a place for government activities in the field of fisheries, such as loading and unloading of fish. Unit Pelaksana Teknis Pelabuhan Perikanan Pantai (UPT PPP) Pondokdadap is one of the coastal fishing ports with the largest landing of fish, especially tuna, tuna, and skipjack in Malang. Fishery production results are obtained from fishing by fishermen in the sea. The types of fish mostly found in Sendang Biru are dominated by large pelagic fish, namely tuna. Fishing production is obtained from fishermen's catches with fishing gear in the form of purse seines and handlines. A lifeboat with handline fishing gear is the fleet used to catch large pelagic fish. Total fishery production from production volume and production value on January 1 to June 30, 2022 obtained results on fishery production volume reaching 5,596,271 kg with fishery production value reaching Rp. 137,691,524,000. There are several obstacles during the fishing process regarding bad weather or rainfall with high waves, which can affect fishermen's income in fishing activities classified as low.

Abstract

Pedada fruit (Sonneratia caseolaris) contains phytochemicals such as steroids, tripenoids and flavonoids. Phytochemical compounds are antioxidants that neutralize free radicals that attack body cells. The application of making pedada fruit jam with the addition of carrageenan can function as a natural preservative. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding carrageenan to the shelf life of pedada fruit jam. The research treatment consisted of 0 week of storage (P0), 1 week (P1), 2 weeks (P2), 3 weeks (P3), and 4 weeks (P4). Parameters observed in this study were the total plate count test, viscosity test, and antioxidant activity test with spektrofotometer Uv-Vis. The data obtained was tested with the ANOVA statistical test and continued with the DMRT test. The results of the research show that antioxidant activity and viscosity have decreasing values with each storage period, while microbiological activity is inversely proportional to antioxidant activity and viscosity, namely with increasing values with each storage period. The storage time for pedada fruit jam with the addition of carrageenan had a significant effect on antioxidant activity, viscosity and microbiological activity which had significantly different values (p < 0.05).

Abstract

Moina macrocopa is a natural food that has the potential for freshwater fish seeds, because of its high nutritional value, easy to digest and has a fast, fast breeding, and has a size that is in accordance with the fish's mouth opening. Problems in the use of M. macrocopa as natural food are constrained by the availability of M. macrocopa both from nature and from cultivation. Population density in M. macrocopa cultivation varies due to different quality of food used. The needs of M. macrocopa as natural food can be met if the quality and quantity of feed used optimally support population growth. This study aims to determine the effect of lemuru fish oil concentration in bran suspension fermentation on fecundity and offspring production of M. macrocopa. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of five treatments three replications, namely: control treatment (0 mg/L lemuru fish oil, 100 gram bran), P1 (4 mg/L lemuru fish oil, 100 gram bran), P2 (lemuru fish oil 5 mg/L, 100 gram bran ), P3 (lemuru fish oil 6 mg/L, 100 gram bran), P4 (7 mg/L lemuru fish oil, 100 grams), and P5 (8 mg/L lemuru fish oil, 100 gram bran ).The parameters observed were fecundity and child production per parent and water quality. Data analysis used the Analysis of Variance test followed by Duncan's multiple test. The results showed that the cultivation of M. macrocopa using different bran suspension feed with supplemented lemuru fish oil affected the fecundity and production of children per M. macrocopa parent. The concentration of lemuru fish oil of 6 mg/L in the feed resulted in a fecundity of 24,00±2,00 eggs/parent and child production is 20,33±1,52 ind/parent.

Abstract

Mangroves are vegetation that grows in muddy areas in tidal areas, coastal areas , and river estuaries. Mangrove forests have an ecological function as providing food for marine biota, preventing tidal waves and tsunamis, preventing sea water intrusion, preventing coastal erosion and absorbing waste. This research aims to determine the species and Importance Value Index in the mangrove area of Lohgung Village, Brondong District, Lamongan Regency, which included Relative Density (KR), Relative Frequency (FR), and Relative Dominance (DR). This research was carried out in Lohgung Village, Brondong District, Lamongan Regency from May to June 2023. The method used in sampling used a combination of the line method (line transect) and the plot line method (quadrant transect). The results showed that the types of vegetation found in Lohgung Village, Brondong District, Lamongan Regency consisted of 8 species from 5 different families, namely Sonneratia alba, Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora mucronata, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Ceriops tagal, Lumnitzera racemosa, Excoecaria agallocha L., and Xylocarpus moluccensis. The results of calculating the values of Density (K), Relative Density (KR), Frequency (F), Relative Frequency (FR), Dominance (D), Relative Dominance (DR), and Importance Value Index (IVI) in all categories, trees, saplings and seedlings showed that the highest value that dominated was Rhizophora mucronata with an IVI value of 102.08%, 68.73% for saplings and 75.40% for seedlings.
