The program enabled students to apply the BMC framework to their own business ideas, supported by continuous feedback from mentors, fostering iterative learning and improvement. Results demonstrated significant enhancements in the students’ understanding and ability to develop and communicate their business concepts effectively. Furthermore, the program’s findings have practical applications, as the students are now better prepared to utilize the BMC in real-world scenarios, driving innovation and entrepreneurship within their communities. In conclusion, this initiative not only improved entrepreneurial education by nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills but also contributed to the students’ readiness for future business endeavors, ultimately supporting their roles as innovative contributors to their local economy.

Abstract

Traditional approaches often fail to motivate students and cater to diverse learning styles, further compounded by the limited use of modern educational technologies. A community service program was implemented to address these issues, focusing on contemporary teaching models like the Happy Learning approach and the integration of whiteboard animation. This program explores the challenges high school English teachers face in Sidoarjo, Indonesia, concerning student engagement and effective teaching methods. Over one month, 47 high school English teachers participated in workshops and mentoring sessions designed to enhance their skills in these innovative methods. The results showed notable improvements in teachers' confidence and their ability to manage interactive classes. A significant majority found the contemporary models, including Happy Learning and whiteboard animation, to be effective, although some teachers still preferred traditional methods. Whiteboard animation was recognized for its role in clarifying content and engaging students, with many teachers successfully creating their media using various applications. Additionally, teachers preferred integrating game-based learning with whiteboard animation, indicating a shift towards more dynamic and student-centered teaching practices. This program underscores the effectiveness of combining modern teaching models with technology to improve educational outcomes and teacher effectiveness.

Abstract

The spirit of improving the welfare of the elderly is the concern of Amal Usaha Aisyiyah, an autonomous organization under Muhammadiyah by establishing a Shelter for the Elderly in the Dau area, under the management of the Aisyiyah Dau Branch Leadership. One thing that is a serious problem is the need for infrastructure that supports the ease of movement of the elderly. It is common knowledge that the elderly's movements slow down and their motor skills are greatly reduced due to physical factors and age. This is what causes them to fall easily and get injured. And the majority of falls occur in the bathroom, in addition to wet conditions that can cause slipping, also because the toilet is not suitable, or is not friendly to the elderly. This community service is aimed at creating a special toilet design that provides convenience and safety when used. The method applied is by conducting anthropometric observations, interviews with elderly users and administrators and caregivers, conducting design calculations, fabrication followed by product testing and socialization to users. Finally, this community service succeeded in building an elderly-friendly hydraulic toilet with special specifications and has been given to the Shelter for the Elderly. The handover of the product was carried out simultaneously with testing and socialization. This product is expected to increase comfort for the elderly and reduce the occurrence of accidents involving falls in the bathroom.
