Focus and Scope Journal of Health and Behavioral Science (JHBS) is an open-access journal, publishes research from various topics in psychology. We dedicated ourselves in developing psychology and behavioral sciences in the world, especially in the areas of: Health Psychology Clinical Psychology Psychology of Education Social and Community Psychology Developmental Psychology Cognitive Psychology Health Promotion and Community Health JHBS publishes Regular Empirical Articles, Literature Reviews (e.g. scoping review, systematic review), Meta-analyses and Special Sections with a particular thematic focus. Articles published in JHBS were selected through a blind review process conducted by JHBS editors and reviewers. This process considers several factors such as the relevance of the article and its contribution to the development of psychological and professional practices and compliance with the requirements of the published article. Editors and reviewers provide constructive evaluations and suggestions for writers.

Abstract

School is essential during the process of students individual growing. School well-being important to be paid attention to in order to provide comfort for students. A research proves that one student will be comfortable getting surrounded by friendly teachers and friends who bring positive influence at school. Students of school with unfriendly environment behave negatively by doing things like playing truant, fighting with other students, smoking, and vandalism which are known as student’s delinquencies. This research aims to observe the relationship of school well-being with juvenile delinquencies by students in SMKN 2 Kota Kupang. This is a quantitative research used 330 students. The result proves that there is a significant negative relationship between the two variables which is -0.255 with the significance value of 0.000. The result also shows that there is a significant negative relationship among all of the aspects of school well-being with the delinquency.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find the level of relationship of teacher's social support with self regulated learning of SMP Abdi Kasih Bangsa Kupang students. 58 students of SMP Abdi Kasih Bangsa Kupang was participated. Self regulated learning scale and teacher social support scale was used to collect data. Pearson correlation product moment was used to see the correlation between the two variables. The results showed that the correlation coefficient (rxy) was 0.424 with a significance value (p) of 0.001 which means there is a relationship between teacher social support and self-regulated learning.

Abstract

Subjective well-being is circumstances of prosperous and self-satisfaction, which is the positive satisfaction that happens if the need and hope of someone is being fulfilled. Subjective well-being is caused by positive effect, negative effect, and life satisfaction effect. The purpose of this research is to find out the difference of subjective well-being of eleventh grades students of science and social programs. The sampling technique of this research is purposive sampling with the number of samples are 147 students in SMA Negeri 3 Kupang. The method of data analysis is t-test analysis method. The result of this research showed that the difference of subjective well-being of eleventh grade students of science and social programs with coefficient contras of t-test is 0,000 with p < 0,05

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to know the relationship between social dominance orientation with dating violence in adolescents. The hypothesis is that there is a positive relationship between social dominance orientation with dating violence in adolescents. Participants in this study were 400 adolescents in Kupang City (200 girls dan 200 boys) using convenience sampling. This research uses the quantitative approach with Social Dominanca Orientation7 (ODS7) adaptation scale and Conflict in Adolescent Dating Relationships Inventory (CADRI) adaptation scale as data collection methods. The hypotesys’s result using Spearman correlation technique obtained that correlation coefficient in this study is 0,102 with a significance level is 0,042 (p < 0,05). The data shows that there is a significant positive relationship between the social dominance orientation with dating violence in adolescents in Kupang city. It means that the higher social dominance orientation of adolescent, the higher tendency to commit violence in dating relationship, and vice versa. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine differences in academic procrastination between the majors of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Languages. This research uses a comparative research approach. The subjects of this study were 36 students in Class XI majoring in Natural Sciences, 34 in Social Sciences, and 33 people in Language. Data collection techniques were carried out with quantitative scale instruments that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results of this study are empirical, statistically analyzed by one way ANOVA test through the application of statistical data management. The results showed that the p value (sig) 0.001< 0.05 was strengthened by the results of the post hoc test with the highest average academic procrastination in the Language department at 102.3939 with a significance value of 0.973> 0.05. There are differences in academic procrastination between students majoring in Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Language Classes XI IN SMA Negeri 1 Kupang Timur. Students majoring in Language are higher in procrastination academic than students majoring in Natural Sciences and Social Sciences. The lowest procrastination is students majoring in Natural Sciences and Social Sciences who are in the medium category so that teachers must pay more attention to their students by creating an effective atmosphere in learning, so that students can be motivated to learn and do the assignments without delay.

Abstract

Abstract. Public behavior influences the spread of the new Corona virus desease 2019 (COVID-19). Human behavior is influenced by human knowledge. The objective of the research is to asses the knowledge of COVID-19 among the community. This research is an online cross-sectional survey. The questionnaire consisted of 16 myth statements. Sample of this research used convenience sample consists of 130 people. Data processed by percentage. Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an endemic disease commonly found in tropical and subtropical regions. Community behavior and the role of health workers in DHF prevention significantly influence DHF incidence. This study purposed to determine the relationship between community knowledge and attitude and the role of health workers with DHF prevention in the working area of the Bakunase Public Health Center in 2020. The study design was descriptive-analytic with a cross-sectional study approach. The research sample was 99 respondents, taken by simple random sampling technique. Analysis of research data used the chi-square test. The results showed that knowledge (p = 0.003), attitude (p = 0.000), and the role of health workers (p = 0.004) were related to DHF prevention. Most respondents had poor knowledge but showed a positive attitude towards DHF prevention. Intensive counseling on DHF prevention is essential to ensure active community participation in DHF prevention activities.
