Abstract

This study's objective was to determine the effect of photodegradation on CDOM and nutrients in Lake Beratan, specifically in a tourism-dominated area. Subjects in this study are the water of Lake Beratan, while the object of this study is the absorbance CDOM, nutrient concentration, DO, pH, and temperature. We measured absorbance and nutrient concentrations using a Shimadzu UV-1800 UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. The spectral slope (S) and E2:E3 ratio were calculated from its absorbance. The result shows the possibility of misinterpretation due to the use of S or E2:E3 alone to express photodegradation. Either one demonstrates that photodegradation seems to decompose CDOM less than biodegradation. However, if we notice its absorbance value, it is clear that the opposite phenomenon, which is reasonable, takes place. We, therefore, conclude that CDOM photodegradation cannot be concluded from S and E2:E3 alone, but its absorbance is also necessary to lead to the right interpretation. Besides CDOM absorbance, photodegradation also affects nutrients in the water. Photodegradation decomposes organic materials into inorganics, whereas organic nitrogen is turned into ammonia and is then oxidised into nitrite and nitrate via nitrification. Overall, photodegradation decreases the concentration of nutrients dissolved in water.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive study that aims to determine the presence of methampyrone in traditional herbal medicine for stiff rheumatic preparations in the Buleleng District, Buleleng Regency. The subject of this study was herbal medicine in solid dosage form in powder form, which was suspected to contain methampyrone, and the object of this study was methampyrone, which was suspected to be present in the herbal medicine. The identification of methampyrone was carried out by the method of changing color and the presence of sulfur dioxide gas. The results showed that out of ten samples of aching rheumatic herbal medicine, one sample was positive for methampyrone, as evidenced by a change in color and the presence of sulfur dioxide gas in the herbal sample.

Abstract

This research is classified as descriptive research and aims to: (1) determine the levels of erythrocytes and hematocrit in pregnant women; and (2) determine the percentage of pregnant women who experience anemia from April 1 to May 31, 2008. The subjects of this study were the blood of pregnant women who checked themselves at the General Hospital Board (BRSU) Tabanan from April 1 to May 31, 2008. While the object of this study was the levels of erythrocytes and hematocrit in the blood of the pregnant women, Erythrocyte and hematocrit levels were determined using the hematology analyzer method. The results of this study indicated that (1) the levels of erythrocytes and hematocrit of pregnant women ranged from 2.0 to 4.56 million/L and 18 to 41.3%, and (2) the percentage who experienced anemia was 43.33%.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive study that aims to (1) determine the presence or absence of total coliform bacteria and fecal coliform in piped water in Dusun Mundukkunci, Tegallinggah Village, and (2) determine the quality of the piped water in terms of MPN values for total coliform and fecal coliform. The subject of this research is piped water in Dusun Mundukkunci, Tegallinggah Village, Sukasada District, and Buleleng Regency. The objective is to determine the microbiological quality of the piped water in terms of the total coliform MPN and fecal coliform values. The determination of the sample is done by random sampling an area based on consideration of the distance of the spring from the distribution channel in people's homes. The presence of total coliform bacteria and fecal coliform in piped water samples was tested using the double tube method. The results showed that (1) the piped water in Dusun Mundukkunci, Tegallinggah Village, contains total coliform bacteria and fecal coliform, and (2) the microbiological quality of the piped water is suitable for use as a source of clean water, but it is not suitable for direct drinking water because of its The MPN for springs and storage tanks exceeds the standards set by the government. In its utilization, the water needs to be treated first, for example by adding a disinfectant to the holding tank or by boiling it to kill the bacteria in the water.

Abstract

Currently, many herbs contain medicinal chemicals (BKO). For slimming herbs, the indications included reducing hunger, and they were suspected of containing BKO in the form of fenfluramin hydrochloride. Fenfluramine hydrochloride has indications as an anorexia or anti-obesity drug. This drug works by suppressing or inhibiting the stimuli sent by certain receptors in the stomach and intestines to the satiety center in the brain. This research is a descriptive study that aims to determine the presence of fenfluramin hydrochloride in traditional medicine for slimming herbal medicine in solid powder form circulating in Singaraja City. The subject of this research was slimming herbal medicine in solid dosage form or powder form suspected of containing fenfluramine hydrochloride circulating in the Singaraja City area. The object of this research is to determine the content of fenfluramin hydrochloride, which is suspected to be present in the herbal slimming solid dosage form of the powder. The identification of fenfluramine hydrochloride was carried out by the Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) method. The results showed that there were two samples of herbal medicine containing fenfluramin hydrochloride among five samples of herbal slimming solid preparations in powder form circulating in the Singaraja area.
