Palmyra Fiber as Additional Materials on Solid Concrete Brick of Aggregate
ISSN : 20399340     EISSN : 20392117     DOI : 10.36941/mjss
The use of waste as an additional material on the building work was increasingly actively developed, such as straw, styrofoam, bagasse, cow manure. The key drivers of the use of waste is the potential for waste is increasing, due to the depletion of non-renewable resources. Papyrus rod diameter 60 cm, length 30 meters, has a volume of 5,652m3 as well as the edges of the Rods that can be used for construction with a thickness of 3 cm has a volume 0,942m3, Pith and fiber volume content of the stem 4,71m3/rod, then in one rod, there are 2 to 3 bunches each fruit bunches yield as much as 20 to 30 items for one harvest, by weight of fruit fiber 101.2 gram / fruit, Fiber characteristics are round and smooth is expected to reduce cracks in solid concrete brick and also can reduce the use of sand. This study aims to determine the compressive strength of the composition of the additional material of Rods fiber content and Fiber of palmyra fruit with a percentage 3%, 6% and 9%, mixing ratio; 1 cement and 5 sand in the manufacture of solid concrete brick. Rods fiber content used the average Ø1,031mm with a tensile strength of single fiber 39,305N / cm and fruit fiber to an average value Ø0,40mm with a tensile strength of single fiber 33,691N / cm. Making test specimen with a length of 20cm, width 10cm and thick 8cm. The test results of compressive strength after 14 days with the lowest value at 3% of additional material combination of fiber content of 6% fiber stem and fruit by 70,384Kg/cm²with a water content of 15,254% In weight position 2,935Kg as well as the highest value on the combination of additional material 0% rods fiber content and 3% fruit fiber by 98,821Kg/cm² with a water content of 15,031% In weight position 3,058Kg. While N (without additional material) with a compressive strength below the average id 63,704Kg/cm2 with water content of 10,167 in weight position 3,072Kg. Research result of solid concrete brick with additional material of rods fiber content and palmyra fruit fiber was included on the type B70, the average value of the compressive strength of 78.57 Kg / cm² (SNI-03-1348-1989) with a water content of <25%.

Abstract

Humans Resource is considered to be a vital source of growth for the companies, for best utilization of humanresource it is indispensible to align the knowledge, skills and abilities possessed by the employees with the assigned roles in theorganization. The present study reveals the relationship between person job fit, job satisfaction and job performance. This studystudied and analyzed the responses of 251 respondents from various universities in twin cities i.e. Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Results indicated that there exists relationship between person job fit and job satisfaction and job performance and the result ispositive. While the relationship between job satisfaction and job performance is also positive.

Abstract

Representation in discourse is a constructed practice; that is, it is not neutral. Events and ideas are not transmittedneutrally as they were, because they have to pass through a medium with its own ideological filters. Critical discourse analysis(CDA) is a type of discourse analytical research that primarily studies the way social power abuse, dominance, and inequalityare enacted, reproduced, and resisted by text and talk in the social and political context. Edward Said’s book Orientalism (1976)focuses on how the East is represented by the West. He believes that during the process of representation, the Orient is alsoremade. He mentions a number of writers who he believes depict distorted images of the East in order to satiate their colonizingends among whom is Kingslake and his travel narrative Eothen (1844). Twenty seven pages from this travelogue have beentaken as the data of this research. The purpose was to reveal how the writer has tried to create a biased image of the Orient. The method applied was van Dijk’s ideological square which is used to reveal forms of positive self and negative other. Uponextracting these biased images, the rhetorical techniques used to create them were identified. Interestingly the findings suggestthat the travelogue was saturated with creations of binary oppositions revealing a biased and inaccurate description of the East.

Abstract

The main objective of this study has been to empirically investigate the relationship between government expenditureand the Real Exchange Rate in Nigeria . Using data covering 1970 to 2010, the Vector Error Correction and Cointegration testsresults established a long run relationship among the components of government expenditure and the Real Exchange Rate. Theresult showed that government investment has delivered more productivity gains in the non-tradable sector than in the tradablesector, while an increase in government consumption increased the relative demand for non-tradable. The government shouldthus shift attention to the expansion of the tradable sector.

Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the most frequent cohesive errors committed by Iranian undergraduate EFL learnersat different levels of proficiency as well as the sources of cohesive errors. An overall number of 67 undergraduate students atShiraz Azad University participated in this study. To have three groups of learners with different proficiency levels, OxfordPlacement Test 1B1 (Allan, 1985) was administered. To achieve the objectives of the study, the participants were given a writingtask requiring them to write an approximately 200-word narrative composition. Then, the compositions were scored based on thetaxonomy developed by Halliday and Hasan (1976). Finally, the data were analyzed through appropriate procedures usingquantitative methods. Regarding the frequencies and percentages of errors it was found that low-level learners' most frequenterrors were involved in references (20), followed by errors in lexical (14), and conjunctive cohesion (1). Besides, the findingsshowed that errors in references were the most common (17), followed by errors in lexical (13), and conjunction cohesion (2) inthe mid-level learners' narrative compositions and, finally, the high-level learners' most frequent errors were involved in lexicalcohesion (17), references (14), conjunction cohesion (3), and substitution (1).This study also allowed for an examination of thesources of cohesive errors. It was found that errors in the use of relative pronouns, conjunctions, along with different forms ofrepetition appeared because of the incomplete knowledge of the learners—intra-lingual causes. Furthermore, in this study, theerrors in the use of personal-, possessive-pronouns, demonstratives and collocations were among the inter-lingual causes oferrors.

Abstract

Enhancing access to formal financial services especially credit to the rural populace has been identified as a means ofreducing poverty in developing countries. This paper investigates whether access to financial services reduces poverty in Nigeriafocusing specially on rural areas. A cross-sectional primary data was generated using a structured questionnaire administeredon randomly selected respondents from rural areas of Katsina state. The study used multinomial logit model in examining therelationship, and the study found a negative relationship between poverty level and access to financial services. The studyconcludes that promoting access to formal financial services increases the level of income of the rural dwellers and thus aretarding effect on the level of poverty in the rural areas.

Abstract

Tourism is one of the largest and fastest growing industries in the world. It is an increasingly important source of income, employment and wealth in Albania. International tourism now accounts for a larger share of foreign exchange receipts and exportearnings than any other industry. But, while tourism provides considerable economic benefits for the country, regions andcommunities, its rapid expansion has also had detrimental environmental and socio-cultural impacts. Sustainable Tourism is acontemporary concept that is used to reflect the need of a comprehensive analysis and to consider Tourism as a need, experience and business. Anyway this shouldn’t be our single consideration. Tourism is part of overall efforts towardachievement of a sustainable Albanian Economy. The paper argues that the promotion of sustainable tourism development isessential for maximizing its socio-economic benefits and minimizing its environmental impact. It continues than with thediscussion on implementation of two instruments of sustainability such as “National Environmental Label’ and Quality Markin Albania
