Abstract

Recent cases of discrimination and intolerance have threatened the unity of Indonesia. We may forget that the unity in diversity (Bhineka Tunggal Ika) is a ‘given’ thing for the inhabitants of Indonesia. This article is a descriptive-critical reflection to this given-unity-in-diversity in the light of Pancasila as the practical-philosophy of Indonesian people. In the face of Indonesian people’s ethnicity, race, and religion diversities, a unifying love is needed, which is none other than the Pancasila itself.

Abstract

The sacrament is a sign of God’s presence in the world. Through the sacrament mankind finds salvation. Men received the sacraments with the help of priests. Therefore, there is a demand for holiness for the priests. The question is, if as a sacrament minister, a priest does not show holiness, can the sacrament still bring salvation? To answer this question, this paper uses the idea of Saint Augustine of Hippo. Saint Augustine insists that the sacrament can still save because Christ works in it. In addition, there is a de- mand for priests to always practice self-sanctification.

Abstract

The plague is not something strange in the story of human civilization. Neverthe- less, the plague has always succeeded in delivering dynamic of humanity to the frightening crisis. At least, in his comment about the pandemic Covid-19, Yuval Noah Harari said that pandemic Covid-19 which we are facing right now has dropped almost all sectors in the world to the most crisis moment in its own generation. It is really possible to say this con- dition is capable enough to make humanity in trouble. It wouldn’t be wrong if we say that “hei..we are in big trouble” or “this pandemic is so terrible” and any expression else, but it would be much more dangerous if we are not capable to realize that pandemic Covid-19 has offered the way and chance for us to create the better future in human civilization. This paper is intended to invite us to reflect this Pandemic Covid-19 from a little bit differ- ent worldview, more precisely we may interpret pandemic Covid-19 as a concrete or real methaphor which explain something unknowable by its own knowable way.

Abstract

As homo religiosus, human being is always looking for the meaning of life, their existence, and also the mysteries of the universe. As time goes by, human being only focus for their self-fullness and self-centeredness and in the end human have lost con- nected with the ultimate reality in which they can get their bearing. Instead of searching for a meaning, man is becoming completely alienated from himself as a being, from the others, and from the transcendental things. In this era, it is important to have a new per- spective and world view about human being itself in the universe. That way is by way of mystic-symbolic language that not provide the objective truth but about how the truth is told or said. Therefore, with this experience or expression, humankind is invited to get involved and participate into which they has been born and never separated from.
