Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the most common chronic diseases found in the 21st century. Data of the Pasir Panjang Public Health Center in 2017 showed that the incidence of Diabetes Mellitus that did not depend on insulin in the inpatient room was 91 people, with 10 dead patients. The amount is based on age, from 25 to 44 years, 1 man and 8 women; age 45-64 years, 22 men and 40 women; age over 65 years, 8 male and 11 female. The prevalence of DM-dependent non-insulin events with gangrene in Pasir Panjang Health Center in 2013 was 1 woman with age 54 years. In 2015 there were an increase of 8 people with the age of 45 - 64 years, with the number of men as many as 3 people. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family support and the quality of life of people with Type 2 diabetes mellitus in ethnic Timor, at the Pasir Panjang Public Health Center, Kupang City. This research utilized cross sectional approach. The sample was Type 2 DM sufferers and their families, with a sample size of 52, which was selected by accidental sampling technique. Categorical data that have been collected are analyzed descriptively in the form of frequencies and percentages and are presented in tabular form. Then the hypothesis test was performed using the Chi-Square test. Chi-square test results showed a p-value of 0.045 so it was concluded that there was a relationship between family support and the quality of life of people with Type 2 DM in Pasir Panjang Public Health Center, Kupang City. Keywords: type 2 diabetes mellitus, family support, quality of life

Abstract

Disaster governance faces multiple challenges given the large variety and amount of resources, skills and expertise that adequate disaster response commands. Disasters do not necessarily respect territorial boundaries, or may overwhelm the capacity of any nation. Therefore, a collective, joint or even global effort becomes essential to overcome the crises. The paper is aimed to identify the nature of disaster governance and its challenges to integrated networks during emergency situation. The researcher utilized systematic integrative literature review using content analysis technique. Due to diverse potential findings, the review utilized a certain degree of limitations as criteria for selection. A multi-staging strategy was developed to identify the significant and relevant review literatures. Key words such as disaster, risk, management, emergency, governance were used to retrieve significant literatures. ProQuest is the only database used in the literature retrieval. The reviewer also limited the selection process by using considerable criteria. The literature is published from January 2015 to January 2017 internationally. Literatures were excluded if they did not meet the inclusion criteria set by the reviewer. Based from the analyses, literatures revealed that disaster governance is highly dynamic, complex, multi-level, multi-actor and fragmented and patchy in nature. Particularly, disaster governance takes place a broad range of both public and private sectors at various levels. This involves various phases of management, thus challenges the disaster governance. Furthermore, the literature unveiled that some of the challenges encountered by the disaster governance include people, limited resources, out-of-date or inaccessible materials, technology and jurisdictional politics. Therefore, it is concluded that emergency preparedness is an essential component of the disaster governance and the health care delivery system. Standardized strategies concerning disaster preparedness that allow flexibility in consideration of factors which challenges the governance. This creates a more comprehensive planning approaches and in turn, a more prepared citizens. Keywords: disaster governance, emergency preparedness, integrated network

Abstract

Until now, most authors in the field of health still publish research articles, even though there are still many types of non-research articles that can be published in scientific journals. In this case it is necessary to understand that in addition to the results of research, the results of critical and innovative thinking are very important to be known by the scientific community. Thus, the authors are expected to learn more about the procedures for writing non-research articles, including examining the specific writing methods that have been determined by each journal. Abstract

The aim of the present study was to develop and validate HPLC method for the simultaneous assay of metamizole, thiamine and pyridoxine in tablet. Metamizole is a substance that is easily hydrolyzed in the precence of water and oxygen. To inhibit the hydrolysis of metamizole during sample preparation prior to HPLC analysis, sodium sulfite is added and its optimum concentration was investigated. The chromatographic system includes a RP C8(2) column (150x4.6 mm, 5 µm particle size) in conjunction with Photo Diode Array (PDA) detector. The optimal chromatographic condition was obtained using a mobile phase consisting of phosphate buffer 35mM pH 3.0: methanol (80:20), flowrate 1.0 ml/min, and 10 µl injection volume. The metamizole, thiamine and pyridoxine were detected at 275 nm and 361 nm for cyanocobalamin. The Hydrolysis of metamizole was successfully inhibited by adding solution containing 1.5 mg/mL sodium sulfite to solvent and 0.5 mg/mL sodium sulfite to mobile phase. The validation results indicate a good specificity and a linear detector responses with r>0.999. The accuracy (% recovery) for metamizole, thiamine and piridoxine were 100.26%; 99.09%; and 100.03%, respectively. The method yields good precision with RSD of metamizole, thiamine and pyridoxine were 2.0912%; 1.4489%; and 0.8418% respectively. In the robustness study, the small changes of mobile phase pH yielded unsymmetrical peaks and lower resolution. The validated method was successfully applied for simultaneous assay of metamizole, thiamine and pyridoxine in tablet. Abstract

In rural areas, many farmers produce livestock waste, which can pollute the environment, both air, water and soil pollution. This pollution can be eliminated by being accommodated, which at the same time can be converted into environmentally friendly energy. In this case, offered an easy and inexpensive way to make biogas using polyethylene plastic as a digester. This system can be made easily by the people without using complicated technology. Rural communities in general use biogas as stove fuel for cooking. Keywords: Livestock, Biogas, Digester, Polyethylene plastic
