Abstract

The School Operational Assistance (BOS) Fund serves as one of the primary fiscal instruments in Indonesia to support the operational needs of public schools. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of accountability and transparency principles in BOS fund management based on a comprehensive literature review of relevant studies and government regulations over the past decade. The findings reveal that while schools have generally complied with accountability standards such as budgeting, reporting, and internal oversight mechanisms, the implementation of transparency remains inconsistent. Limitations in information dissemination, financial literacy, and stakeholder engagement have hindered broader public monitoring and trust. This study concludes that enhancing the capacity of school financial managers, establishing accessible and inclusive information systems, and reinforcing community participation are strategic efforts needed to improve BOS fund governance. These findings are expected to inform future education finance policies aimed at achieving more accountable and transparent school financial systems.

Abstract

Academic Information System (AIS) is an important element in supporting efficient, structured, and transparent academic data management in higher education institutions, including Islamic Religious Colleges (PTKI). This study aims to analyze the AIS management strategy at the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Curup in four main dimensions, namely planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation of 50 informants consisting of heads of study programs and administrative staff from various faculties. The results of the study indicate that there are still weaknesses in strategic planning, uneven implementation in terms of infrastructure and human resource competencies, and an evaluation process that is not yet based on standardized performance indicators. On the other hand, the follow-up to the evaluation is still partial and less systematic. These findings emphasize the need to optimize the AIS management system through a data-based approach and integration between human, technology, and process components. This study provides a strategic contribution to the development of a more responsive and adaptive AIS in the PTKI environment.

Abstract

Educational investment as part of human capital development is a crucial strategy in increasing competitiveness and driving economic growth of a nation. However, in developing countries like Indonesia, there is still a gap between theory and practice, particularly in the effectiveness of implementing education financing models. This study aims to formulate a relevant human capital- based education financing model capable of driving inclusive and sustainable economic growth. Using a systematic literature study approach to scientific publications and national-international policy documents over the past decade (2014–2024), it was found that education financing schemes focused on improving the quality of human resources have a positive impact on labor productivity and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth. The findings demonstrate the importance of implementing outcome-based budgeting, diversifying funding sources, and cross-sector synergy in formulating education financing policies. The proposed conceptual model positions human resource quality as the main indicator of the effectiveness of education investment. In conclusion, education financing strategies must be designed contextually, collaboratively, and output-oriented to encourage inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

Abstract

Oral corrective feedback (OCF) plays an important role in helping to develop students’ speaking skills in the EFL classroom. In practice, the application of OCF varies depending on teaching style and classroom conditions. This research investigates the types and implementations of OCF by seventh-grade English teachers in a private school, MTs NU Mranggen, in teaching speaking skills. This qualitative single case study used observation and semi-structured interviews. The results showed that teachers used three types of OCF: rephrasing, explicit correction, and request for clarification, with rephrasing being the most frequently used as it allowed teachers to correct errors without interrupting the interaction process. In addition, OCF often appeared at the main activity stage, especially when students interacted with the teacher. Based on the findings, it is suggested that teachers use OCF techniques in a more planned way to improve students’ speaking ability in the EFL classroom.

Abstract

This research is aimed at describing the use of politeness strategies in classroom interaction in English teaching learning at MAN 1 Tanah Datar in academic year of 2024/2025. The objectives of the research are to (1) identify the types of politeness strategies which were used in the classroom interaction, (2) identify the function implied in the politeness strategies used by English teachers. The research was designed as a qualitative study. There are three steps used in this research, they are (1) colleting the data, (2) analyzing the data and (3) presenting the result of the analysis. The data are collected by observational method. The obtained data were in the form of utterances produced in classroom interactions. This method was followed by non-participatory observational, recording and note taking. The data were analyzed by using referential, translational and distributional method. The results of the analysis were described by using formal and informal method. After analyzing the data, the result of study show (1) politeness was conveyed through three types of politeness strategies, namely: bald-on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, (2) the functions of the politeness can be divided into three, namely, expressive, directive and representative function. The implication of the politeness used at the classroom interaction performs in five aspects where those aspects are very influenced in the process of teaching and learning. Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of Kaili folktales in enhancing students’ reading comprehension at SMPN 19 Palu. The research was motivated by students' difficulties in understanding narrative texts, reflecting low reading comprehension levels. A quasi-experimental design was employed, involving 43 eighth-grade students divided into an experimental group (n = 23) and a control group (n = 20). The experimental group was taught using Kaili folktales, while the control group used general folktales. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests consisting of multiple-choice and essay questions. The results revealed that the experimental group achieved a higher average post-test score (71.04) compared to the control group (61.35). A Mann-Whitney test using SPSS 26 yielded a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.001, indicating a significant difference between the groups. The findings suggest that incorporating Kaili folktales into English instruction effectively enhances students’ reading comprehension.

Abstract

The decline in new student enrolment presents a significant challenge to the sustainability of secondary schools, particularly in non-urban areas. This study aims to analyse the principal's managerial leadership strategy in sustaining new student enrolment at SMAN 1 Cisaga, Ciamis Regency. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving principals, teachers, and parents as participants. The findings identify three consistently implemented strategies: strategic planning involving community collaboration, adaptive and technology-based school promotion programmes, and ongoing evaluation of strategy effectiveness. The principal plays a central role in shaping a positive school image through the development of extracurricular activities, strengthening community engagement, and optimising digital communication platforms. These strategies have been effective in enhancing the school's attractiveness and increasing public trust in the institution. The study concludes that managerial leadership that is inclusive, participatory, and responsive to social dynamics is essential for maintaining enrolment stability. Further research is recommended to include a broader range of schools and external variables to enhance the generalisability of the findings.

Abstract

This research examined systematic errors in pseudo-complement clauses and extraposition. The errors included subject-raising issues, verb-complement mismapping, nominalization drift, and filler-gap confusion. These were found in the English writing of Indonesian elementary school students in Medan, North Sumatra and Manado, North Sulawesi. The research used a cognitive syntax framework and applied a qualitative multiple-case study design. Data were collected through free-writing prompts. The findings revealed frequent clause misformations. Common patterns included overuse of “It is + Verb + That/To” constructions, blending of that/to clauses, mislearned subject raising, and poor control of nonfinite clauses. These errors reflected deeper cognitive struggles. Students had difficulty managing clause control, syntactic focus, and verb-complement alignment. The issues were partly influenced by L1 transfer and rote use of lexical chunks. Many students tried to express abstract ideas without sufficient syntactic mastery. These were not isolated mistakes, but signs of developing syntactic representation. The research emphasized the need for clause-based instruction. Such instruction can support both conceptual understanding and grammatical development. The implications for early writing pedagogy and future developmental studies in bilingual contexts were also discussed
