Abstract

This research aims to:examin the comparation of student’s oral communication skills between the implementation of cooperative learning model of Jigsaw and Reciprocal Teaching (RT) on biology learning of grade XI for majoring in science of SMAN 2 Karanganyar. This research is quantitatif research and tend quasy-experimental. The research design used was posttest only group design. The sampling technique used cluster sampling. The population of this research is all students of grade XI for majoring in science of SMAN 2 Karanganyar in the academic year 2018/2019. Selected sample of this study were grade XI science 4 as the experimental group 1 that used Jigsaw cooperative learning model and grade XI science 2 as the experimental group 2 that used RT cooperative learning model. The techniques for collecting data using observation sheets and documents of school. Data was analyzed by the independent sample test, calculations used SPSS 25 with the significance level of 5% (α = 0,05). The results of independent sample test show the value of sig. 0,011 < 0,05, so it can concluded that there is difference of student’s oral communication skills between the implementation of cooperative learning model of Jigsaw and Reciprocal Teaching (RT) on biology learning of grade XI for majoring in science of SMAN 2 Karanganyar. The average value of student’s communication skills of the experimental group 1 with the implementation of Jigsaw cooperative learning model is higher then the experimental group 2 with the implementation of RT cooperative learning model, which is 64,98 (high category) > 59,13 (medium category).

Abstract

Biodiversity Park in Central Bangka Pelawan Forest is one of the park that uses the concept of in-situ conservation in its conservation category. The development of this park was initiated by the Regional Government of Central Bangka Regency which aims to protect local biological resources, specifically the Pelawan Merahtree (Tristaniopsis merguensis). This area was designated as a park with three priority functions: ecotourism, education and research. The purpose of this study is to find out whether the educational function has been carried out properly in accordance with the initial purpose of the construction of this park. The method used is a mixed method with data collection techniques through interviews and questionnaires, the selection of respondents was carried out by purposive sampling. The results of the study showed that only 18.18% visited the park as a place of learning, the most objective of visitors was for recreation (56.82% ), visitors who are aware of the use of the park in (53, 64%) . The visitors (62,37 %) also think that facilities must be added, including information boards, leaflets or brochures to convey knowledge of biodiversity and visitors (92,27%) said the importance of the attendance of officials as informants to convey knowledge and information related to biodiversity in the park

Abstract

Learning media used in anatomy courses in human physiology have not utilized information technology integration. Learning activities carried out are still in the form of discussion presentations by utilizing power point media that tend to less activate the thinking ability of students so that the concept of material delivered is difficult to understand. The purpose of this study was to collect information in the form of fundamental problems in the study of human physiology anatomy so that it can be used as a basis for the preparation of multimedia with the STEM Education model. The method used in this study, namely Research and Development refers to the Thiagarajan development model, namely stage 1 (define) and stage 2 (design). The instruments in this study were (1) interview transcripts, (2) observation transcripts, (3) questionnaires, and (4) documentation. The results of the needs analysis show that as follows (1) 31.75% anatomical learning of human physiology is less interesting in terms of models and learning media. (2) 7.14% of students have known the STEM Education model. (3) 88.10% of students need learning media integrated with information technology and learning models that familiarize them with critical thinking skills. (4) human physiology anatomy subjects suggest using multimedia with the STEM Education model that matches the characteristics of students and the curriculum used. Based on the results of the above research it can be concluded that it is very necessary to develop multimedia anatomy of human physiology with the STEM Education model. Suggestions for further research are to carry out a multimedia design that is integrated with technology based on student characteristics and stimulates students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

South Kalimantan is a potential region of Indonesia to develop local rice plants with adaptation to tidal swamp. This study aimed to identify the level of soil pyrite on tidal swamp land in BarambaiKolamKiri Village, Barito Kuala Regency, South Kalimantan. The method used in this research was a survey method in which observation and soil sample were taken systematically based on soil depth. Soil sampling for the direct qualitative test was carried out using a soil auger. Soil profile for observation of soil morphological characteristics was determined based on the result of the soil auger data. The data of soil resulted from field and laboratory analysis were used to compare soil characteristics and level of soil pyrite among horizon. The morphological soil characteristics observation in tidal swamp land showed that the profile thickness was 0-120 cm, there are two types of horizon including horizon A and B, soil color was grayish brown to dark gray, texture was sandy loam and clay loam, and soil consistency were sticky and plastic. Based on the six soil layers tested, three different pyrite levels were identified: low, medium and high. The results of this study will be used to develop local rice plants with adaptation to high pyrite in tidal swamp land.

Abstract

Endophytic Fungi is one of the natural antibacterial sources that has not been studied. Jamblang (Syzygium cumini L.) is a plant of the Myrtaceae family that has many benefits for health. Endophytic shoots located on the leaves and stems of Jamblang can be one of the natural sources of antibacterial. This study was conducted to obtain endophytic fungi isolates from Jamblang stems and leaves, that have antibacterial activity against Bacillus cereus. The method used at the stage of endophytic shell isolation from Jamblang stem and leaves is Direct Dilution Plate method. At the antibacterial test stage of Bacillus cereus was used agar block diffusion method. Observations were made of the clear zone formed. Isolate Endophytic Fungi which has a clear zone that is D2 Yellow isolate, D4 White Ash, D4 gray Ash, Black B2, B2 White and B3 Yellow. The largest clear zone is shown by B2 Black isolate with a diameter of 14.75 mm.

Abstract

Marga Indigofera merupakan salah satu sumber pewarna biru alami untuk batik dan tenun.  Jumlah jenis marga ini mencapai 750–780 di dunia. Jenis yang sering dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber pewarna biru oleh pembatik dan penenun di Indonesia, yaitu I. tinctoria. Warna biru yang dihasilkan daun Indigofera  berasal dari senyawa glukosida yang disebut indikan. Namun, keberadaan indikan dalam daun hingga kini belum dapat dikenali dari ciri morfologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memutahirkan data keberagaman jenis Indigofera, memetakan persebaran Indigofera pewarna di Indonesia, kualitas indikan dan indigo dari Indigofera penghasil pewarna, dan menganalisis keberagaman genetic berdasar  marka molekuler.  Data keberagaman diperoleh dengan eksplorasi pada 5 pulau dan koleksi herbarium. Sebaran Indigofera pewarna dipetakan dengan ArcGIS 10.1 . Kuantitas indikan diukur dengan HPLC. Kualitas pewarna indigo diuji  melalui ketahanan luntur warna terhadap pencucian 40 0C, keringat asam dan basa, sinar terang dan penekanan panas. Analisis kualitatif terhadap sembilan jenis Indigofera dari koleksi lapangan berhasil mengidentifikasi empat jenis penghasil warna biru yaitu I. arrecta, I. longiracemosa, I. suffruticosa, and I. tinctoria. Indikator keberadaan indikan pada daun ditandai dengan berubahnya warna air rendaman daun menjadi hijau tua, permukaan atas rendaman berbuih dan berbau tajam setelah percobaan perendaman. Uji kualitas indigo terhadap empat jenis tersebut menunjukkan keempat jenis menghasilkan warna biru dengan kualitas baik yang memenuhi syarat kualitas warna sesuai SNI ditandai nilai 4–5 pada 4 kualitas yang diuji, yaitu ketahanan luntur warna terhadap pencucian 40 0C, keringat asam dan basa, sinar terang dan penekanan panas.

Abstract

Maja leaves (Crescentia cujete L.) is one type of plant that has the potential to be antibacterial. The bioactive compounds in maja leaves that function for antibacterials are saponin and tannin. The purpose of this research was to determine the antibacterial effect of maja leaf extract on E. coli and S. aureus bacterial growth. The research method was used experimental research using the basic design of a completely randomized design (RAL) and the data were analyzed using a one-way Anava test. Based on the results of the test it was found that C. cujete L. leaf extract was the most effective for inhibiting the E. coli and S. aureus bacteria growth with 25% leaf extract concentration. The diameter of inhibition zone was formed 10,66 mm in E. coli and 12,33 mm in S. aureus.

Abstract

Natural disasters because of the climate change have an impact on increasing vulnerability in the community. The location of the study in Gemblakan Atas Village located beside of the Code River, the location makes the condition of the population vulnerable to the danger of flooding and landslides. The purpose of this study was to determine the social vulnerability and adaptation to climate change. Social vulnerability was analyzed by comparing vulnerability on the sub-district scale using the Geographic Information System (GIS) with scoring and weighting methods. Whereas to find out the climate change adaptation in the method used in this study is a qualitative research method. Sources of data used are obtained from primary data, namely through interviews with resource persons. While secondary data comes from document data, archives, and other sources related to research. Social vulnerability represents a condition of the level of social fragility in the face of disasters. Vulnerable social conditions can cause large losses if a disaster occurs. In this study the indicators of social vulnerability used include population density, the dependency ratio of the elderly and toddlers to the productive age, sex ratio and disabled people. Based on the calculation results the highest social vulnerability index value occurred in 5 (five) sub-districts and 10 (ten) other districts with moderate vulnerability index values. So based on this analysis the Gemblakan Atas Village is located in Danurejan District which has the highest level of social vulnerability in Yogyakarta city (IKS Value 0.86). In the face of disasters due to the effects of climate change, several adaptation activities carried out by the people in Gemblakan Atas Village include planting the tree, water conservation, household waste management, and making environmental protection posters.

Abstract

This research is to know the effect of biology-based inquiry learning to the improveof students critical thinking skillsin State Senior High School 1 Sembalun on academic year 2017/2018.The research was done in State Senior High School 1 Sembalun and sample on research is class X of IPA toward 29 students. Instrument use in this reseach was essay test. Based on research result show gotten a score of pretest average value is 70.31 and a score of critical thinking skills posttest is 89.48, while average value of gain is 0,64 with a middle category. The research can be concluded that biology-based inquiry learning influence improve of students critical thinking skill in class X of IPA.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to 1) know the characteristics of virtual laboratory learning media in the material of human coordination system on the basis of discovery learning; and 2) know the feasibility of virtual laboratory learning media on human coordination system material on the basis of discovery learning.The research was using a 4-D Model adapted from Thiagarajan (1974), covering the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate, then modified into 3-D without the disseminate stage. The product feasibility assessment was carried out by media expert validators, material experts, construction experts, teacher practitioners, and students of class XI MIPA SMA N 7 Surakarta in limited trials consisting of 20 students taken from XI MIPA 1,3,4,5, and 6 each of 4 students and field trials of class XI MIPA 2 were 34 studentsthrough filling out questionnaires with a 1-4 Likert scale in the form of a checklist. Data analysis techniques in the form of quantitative data and qualitative data. Quantitative analysis is derived from the media feasibility questionnaire score which results in a percentage score then converted into eligibility assessment criteria. Qualitative analysis comes from suggestions and comments as reference for product improvement.This study concludes that: 1) the characteristics of virtual laboratories in the form of applications developed using Adobe Animate 2017 software contain materials maps, practicum activities, and evaluations compiled on the basis of discovery learning models and worked on LKPD; 2) the feasibility of a virtual laboratory that is assessed by validators, practitioners and students states that the media product developed has a very high level of validity, so it is feasible.
