Abstract

In contemporary business practice, companies have become increasingly aware of the need to enhance financial performance to provide optimal dividends to investors while simultaneously managing operational costs and demonstrating environmental responsibility through corporate sustainability reports. This study aims to examine the extent to which operational efficiency, dividend policy, and corporate sustainability influence the financial performance of firms. Employing a quantitative research design with a correlational approach, data were analysed using SPSS. Secondary data were collected from 63 companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) that report Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) scores, alongside their annual reports for the year 2023. The findings indicate that: 1) Operational efficiency does not have a significant effect on financial performance; 2) Dividend policy exerts a positive and significant impact on financial performance; 3) Corporate sustainability does not significantly influence financial performance; and 4) Collectively, operational efficiency, dividend policy, and corporate sustainability significantly affect financial performance. This research focuses on publicly listed companies in Indonesia with ESG scores, highlighting their commitment to environmental, social, and governance factors while concurrently pursuing profitability.

Abstract

The problem of soil retaining wall stability is an important concern in civil construction, especially in the use of concrete sheetpile as an efficient and durable structural solution. However, the design of concrete Sheetpile joints still faces challenges in ensuring structural strength, waterproofness, ease of installation, and resistance to extreme environments. This study aims to develop an optimal concrete flat Sheetpile connection model as a soil retaining wall. The research method involves experimental analysis and numerical simulation on various configurations of Sheetpile joints, including testing of mechanical strength, waterproofness, and material testing against environmental factors. The collected data will be analyzed using an experimental design approach and model validation with structural software. Predicted results show that the developed connection model will improve the stability of the ground retaining wall with better installation time efficiency, while meeting safety and sustainability standards. The continuation of the research is directed at the application of the connection model in actual construction projects to evaluate performance in the field and refine the model based on practical implementation feedback.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is essential for students, yet many struggle with low levels of these skills, highlighting the need for quality learning. This research aims to evaluate learning quality and analyze scientific literacy in relation to student curiosity within classes using the STAD model supported by animated videos. Employing a mixed-methods sequential exploratory design, the study involved planning, implementation, and assessment phases. Participants included students from the VA class as the experimental group and the VB class as the control group at MI Luqman Al Hakim Slawi. Instruments comprised scientific literacy test questions, curiosity questionnaires, and learning tools. Quantitative data were gathered through literacy tests, while qualitative data were collected via interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis included assessing the validity and practicality of learning tools, implementation, and assessment results, alongside normality and homogeneity tests. The study found that the average validity of learning tools was 77%, practicality was 92%, and implementation reached 92.17%. Hypothesis testing revealed that students in the experimental group demonstrated more than 75% mastery in scientific literacy and exceeded the KKM average. Additionally, their average literacy abilities and improvements surpassed those of the control group. Furthermore, student curiosity positively influenced their scientific literacy. Qualitatively, students with high curiosity met all literacy indicators, while those with low curiosity failed to meet any. Overall, learning via the STAD model with animated videos significantly enhances students' scientific literacy skills.
The Existence of Marriage Guardians in Tunisia`s Islamic Family Law Arabiyah, Syarifah

Abstract

The issue of marriage guardianship (wali) has become a significant topic in the reform of Islamic family law across Muslim-majority countries, including Tunisia. While most classical scholars consider a marriage guardian essential for a valid marriage, Tunisia allows adult women to contract marriage independently. This study aims to examine the legal status of marriage guardianship in Tunisia’s Islamic family law and compare it with Indonesia’s legal framework. The research uses a normative juridical method, a library research approach, and comparative analysis. The findings reveal that although Tunisia predominantly follows the Maliki school, it adopts the Hanafi opinion in granting mature women the right to marry without a guardian, as formalized in Article 3 of Law No. 39 of 2010. The implication is that Tunisia’s legal system reflects a progressive blend of historical, cultural, and jurisprudential factors, offering a gender-sensitive approach to Islamic legal reform. This study contributes to the broader discourse on contextual reinterpretation of Islamic law and encourages other Muslim countries to consider reforms aligned with the objectives of Sharia (maq??id al-shar?‘ah).

Abstract

This research discusses the legal certainty for the winner of the auction on the execution of the object of mortgage rights, especially in the context of bad credit in banking institutions. When the debtor defaults, the creditor has the right to execute the security object through auction based on Article 6 of Law No. 4 of 1996 and Article 200 HIR. Although the winner of the auction is legally valid, there are often obstacles in the physical control of the auction object due to the debtor's unwillingness to hand over the object. The research used empirical juridical method with Gustav Radbruch's legal theory approach to assess aspects of justice, certainty, and legal benefits. It was found that legal protection for auction winners includes preventive and repressive aspects, but the implementation of real execution in the field still faces various challenges, such as complex administrative processes and potential third-party claims. Therefore, regulatory improvements and inter-agency coordination are needed to ensure effective legal certainty for auction winners.

Abstract

This study aims to re-examine the effect of profitability, capital intensity, firm size, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) on tax aggressiveness. This study was conducted in response to inconsistent findings in previous research and to strengthen the conceptual understanding of the factors influencing aggressive tax reporting behavior. The object of this research is manufacturing companies in the food and beverage sub-sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Out of 35 companies that met the criteria, 25 were selected as the sample over a three-year observation period, resulting in 75 observational data points. Data were collected through documentation studies by accessing financial reports, annual reports, and sustainability reports available on the official IDX website (www.idx.co.id). The variables examined include profitability, firm size, capital intensity, CSR, and tax aggressiveness. The analytical method used in this research is multiple linear regression, preceded by classical assumption tests and followed by hypothesis testing. The results show that profitability has no significant effect on tax aggressiveness. In contrast, capital intensity and firm size have a significant positive effect on tax aggressiveness, while CSR has a significant negative effect on tax aggressiveness. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for company management and policymakers in designing more transparent and ethical tax management strategies.

Abstract

The crime of sexual violence against women in Southeast Maluku Regency, Maluku Province, is a serious problem that has a wide impact on victims, families, and communities. This study aims to identify the types of sexual violence that often occur, the causative factors, the effectiveness of legal protection for victims, and a review of Islamic law against this crime. The method used in this study is a juridical-sociological approach with positive legal analysis and Islamic law. Result Research shows that the dominant forms of sexual violence in this region include verbal and physical sexual harassment, rape, sexual exploitation, which contains sexual elements. The main causative factors include a strong patriarchal culture, low legal awareness of the community, social stigma against victims, and weak law enforcement. Although Indonesia has regulations such as Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence (TPKS Law), implementation in Southeast Maluku still faces various obstacles, including a lack of resources for law enforcement and victim rehabilitation. From the perspective of Islamic law, sexual violence is categorized as a serious offense that can be punished with hudud, qisas, or ta'zir, depending on the level of the crime committed. Islam also emphasizes the principle of protection of women's honor and safety. Therefore, a more comprehensive approach is needed through strengthening law enforcement, increasing public awareness, and integrating positive law with Islamic values to ensure maximum protection for victims of sexual violence.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of leadership, organizational culture, and work environment on Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) at PDAM Tirta Giri Nata, Cirebon City. Using the purposive sampling method, this study selected participants based on certain criteria. Primary data were collected through questionnaires, and data analysis was carried out using validity and reliability tests, as well as multiple regression analysis with SPSS version 20. The findings of the study show that leadership and organizational culture have no significant effect on OCB, while the work environment has a positive influence. This study was limited by a sample of 89 employees out of 224 employees, because data collection was carried out at the end of the year when company activity was high, and many employees were doing external assignments. In addition, this study only focuses on PDAM Tirta Giri Nata Cirebon City, which may limit the generalization of research results. Further research should explore the contexts of other organizations to improve their implementation. This study contributes to the existing literature by examining the combined effects of leadership, organizational culture, and work environment on OCB in the context of public utility companies.
