Abstract

The development of seaweed cultivation by farmers cannot be separated from production factors such as capital, seeds, labor, and land area, which greatly support the success of seaweed cultivation. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting seaweed production and how to return to scale. The research was conducted in Pantai Amal Village. The number of samples in the study was 59 seaweed farmers using the incidental sampling method. The data analysis technique used multiple linear regression analysis in the form of the Cobb-Douglas function logarithm using the SPSS 26 software. The results showed that simultaneously the capital factors (X1), seeds (X2), labor (X3), and land area (X4) jointly affect the production (sig=0.00). Only the farmer's capital partially showed a significant effect (0.00) smaller than the significance level of = 0.05. The business scale has shown increasing returns to scale with a coefficient value of 1.15, which means that all inputs used in production are increased by 1. The resulting production will be increased by 1, and the resulting production will increase by a more significant proportion, namely 1.15. Thus, seaweed farmers’ use of production factors is efficient

Abstract

As much as 90% of the fisheries industry in Dumai City comes from capture fisheries. The capture fisheries industry is a crucial industry that requires more attention from the government because of its enormous potential. Every year, there is a decrease in the number of fishing households in Dumai City. The reason is the uncertainty of income received and the existence of other business sectors. Fishing communities depend on fisheries resources for their livelihoods. However, the fishing profession in Dumai City is susceptible to changes around it, including changes due to the development of the CPO industry. This study was conducted to analyze the economic impact of the CPO Industry's development on the Lubuk Gaung Village fishing community. This research uses a quantitative survey method, followed by quantitative descriptive data analysis and hypothesis testing with a paired sample t-test. The fishing community in Lubuk Gaung Village felt the economic impact of various indicators. Total household income experienced a significant increase of IDR 2,452,880. Total household expenditure also experienced a significant increase, amounting to IDR 1,185,800. Meanwhile, in terms of asset ownership, fishermen have experienced an increase in asset ownership to meet their daily needs since the existence of the CPO IndustryThe Economic Impact of CPO (Crude Palm Oil) Industry Development on the Lives of Fishermen Communities in Lubuk Gaung Village, Dumai City

Abstract

Lake Maninjau has been developed with the floating net cage (KJA) system for aquaculture. In 2020, the number of KJA decreased by 0,03%, but in 2021, the number of KJA increased by 9,5%; this shows that the cultivator community still maintains the tilapia KJA business. This situation makes the author want to know the investment amount, income, and business. This situation makes the author want to know the investment amount, income, and business feasibility. The method used was a survey, while the respondents were determined deliberately on five KJA cultivators with ten bags and five KJA cultivators with 20 bags. The results showed that the KJA with ten bags had an investment of IDR 626,864,000, an IDR 825,600,000/year income, and an IDR 227,346,334/ year profit. Meanwhile, KJA has 20 bag units, an investment of IDR 1,276,100,000, an income of IDR 1,684,800,000/year, and IDR 490,695,668/ year. Abstract

This study aims to determine the perceptions of local communities towards marine sand mining activities in the Kepulauan Riau Province. Considering the region's dominance, Kepulauan Riau has great potential for sand mining in terms of quality and quantity. The population dynamics and high development today encourage an increased need for sand. Therefore, sand mining businesses have become social, economic, and ecological. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with an interview method with 60 respondents. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to predict perceptions based on social, economic, and ecological variables. The results showed that social aspects (coefficient value of 0.809) strongly influenced the sustainability of mining activities compared to ecological aspects (0.271) and economic aspects (-0.045). This finding shows that if mining activities can create good social conditions in local communities, sand mining activities can continue. However, these social conditions are related to the ecological impacts caused by mining
