About the Journal PHARMACOLOGY, MEDICAL REPORTS, ORTHOPEDIC, AND ILLNESS DETAILS (COMORBID) is an international, modern, general medical publication that publishes research on all aspects of medicine, from fundamental research to significant clinical trials and cost-effectiveness analyses. We generally publish human research that contribute to our understanding of medical epidemiology, etiology, and physiology; the development of prognostic and diagnostic technologies; clinical trials that evaluate the efficacy of particular therapies and comparative trials; and systematic reviews. We want to encourage the conversion of fundamental research into clinical trials and clinical evidence into therapeutic practice. When studies in animal models produce remarkable research findings that are extremely clinically relevant, we publish them on occasion. The international medical community, as well as educators, policymakers, patient advocacy groups, and other interested parties, are among our target audiences. The online edition of COMORBID is updated on a regular basis. Medical Informatics, Basic Science, Clinical Science, Case Report, Brief Communication, Public Health, Public Policy, and Review Articles from all branches of medicine and associated subjects are published in PHARMACOLOGY, MEDICAL REPORTS, ORTHOPEDIC, AND ILLNESS DETAILS (COMORBID)

Abstract

Joint pain is a prevalent disease among the elderly, and treatment can be carried out through pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods. Infrared and acupressure therapies are two effective solutions to alleviate this problem. In this community service, we utilized infrared therapy and acupressure therapy to reduce joint pain. A quasi-experimental study with a control group pretest-posttest design was conducted, and the therapy was administered five times. The activity took place on June 29, 2022, in Gue Village, Kuta Baro District, Aceh Besar, and was facilitated by D3 Nursing lecturers with the assistance of students. The study's findings indicate a decrease in the pain scale from an average of 5.30% before therapy to 2.40% after therapy among 20 elderly patients. This therapy can be imparted to health cadres in the community and is a viable option for managing joint pain.

Abstract

Immobility in the elderly can cause muscle stiffness, pain, and impaired movement, highlighting the need for families to understand the potential effects of immobilization beyond just taking special care of their elderly members. This study aims to describe the risk factors for falls among the elderly in the working area of Krueng Barona Jaya Health Center. A descriptive design using a cross-sectional approach was employed, with a sample of 65 respondents. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire sheet. The findings revealed that the highest distribution of fall risk was in the high category, with 33 respondents (50.8%) at risk of falling. The study's outcomes can serve as a guide for healthcare professionals in providing appropriate services to elderly patients, particularly those at risk of falls.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a physiological condition that can become pathological if there are complications that affect the health of both the mother and the baby. Pregnant women need to be aware of potential high-risk pregnancy factors and understand the importance of early detection. Health education is an essential tool for improving pregnant women's knowledge in this area. The aim of this study is to explore the impact of health education on pregnant women's knowledge about high-risk pregnancy. To achieve this, we conducted a review of existing research sources obtained from Google and Google Scholar. The sources were taken within the last five years, from 2018 to 2022. A total of 13 articles were identified, consisting of national and international journals that focused on pregnant women who received interventions in the form of health education about high-risk pregnancy. The findings suggest that health education has a positive impact on pregnant women's knowledge and can help reduce the risks associated with high-risk pregnancies.

Abstract

This research aims to assess the diagnostic accuracy of imaging technology in detecting prostate cancer in patients with high PSA levels or suspicious findings in clinical examinations. The method involved searching for articles from the Medline, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases from 2011 to 2023. The selected articles used predefined inclusion criteria, and the risk of bias in individual studies was assessed using QUADAS-2. The abstracts and full texts were independently evaluated by the authors to assess the sensitivity and specificity of the imaging. The selection process followed the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The literature search yielded 5421 abstracts, which were independently reviewed by the authors. Out of this number, 5401 abstracts were excluded due to irrelevance to the research title and abstract. Subsequently, a full review was conducted on 20 articles to assess their quality. Among the 20 articles, 14 studies were excluded because they were not original research, the PICO was not relevant, or the methods and populations used were not adequately described. Finally, six studies were included in this research, with four studies concerning MRI and two studies involving transrectal ultrasound with Doppler. Overall, the research findings indicate that the current number of imaging studies with adequate scientific quality is still limited to recommend their use beyond clinical trials for patients with high PSA levels or suspicious findings in clinical examinations. Therefore, further research is needed to strengthen and generalize these findings before imaging technology can be widely used as a diagnostic method for prostate cancer in this patient group.

Abstract

A clinical information system is a collection of diverse information technology applications that offer a centralized repository of patient care-related information across distributed locations. This repository contains the patient's clinical history along with the physician's decisions regarding the patient's condition, treatment choices, and overall health. The clinical information system is defined as a computer-based system dedicated to collecting, storing, and disseminating all essential clinical information required for patient care. Clinical information systems are frequently acknowledged for their potential to enhance the quality of healthcare services. The primary function of a clinical information system is to present tailored information to patients in a clear, organized, and timely manner. One of the clinical information systems employed for data management in clinics is the E-Clinic. This study aims to design and develop a web-based patient registration system for utilization at the Tamara Clinic. This qualitative research employs experimental research methods, involving the creation of a solution during the research process.
