Abstract

This article aims to explain Ronald Reagan’s policy to attempt various counterterrorism actions, such as the formation of Research and Development in technology to minimize opportunities for terrorists to carry out acts of terrorism. In the aftermath of World War II, there were countries that switched from the form of empires to modern states. This happens in countries in the Middle East and causes upheaval from people who disagree. One of the countries that experienced it was Lebanon which wanted to switch to a modern state, but many were not approved by the Syiah community of Lebanon. In addition, government support for Israeli and pro-United States independence also added to the domestic upheaval. Israel's intervention in Lebanon and the capture of the Lebanese Syiah community by Israel, supported by the United States, worsened the situation. In 1985 there was an event that Piracy Hijacking Trans World Airlines flight 847 (TWA flight 847) was allegedly carried out by Hezbollah groups consisting of Lebanese Syiah and was a form of resistance against the United States that supported the Lebanese and Israeli governments. The hijacking also aims to fulfil Lebanese Syiah demands to free the Lebanese Syiah community detained by Israel. For this reason, the United States, during Ronald Reagan's leadership, emerged as a counterterrorism state and opposed all forms of terrorism. This paper uses data collection techniques using literature studies from books, and journals, including data from trusted websites that support the explanations in this paper.

Abstract

Vietnam is the best country to deal with this pandemic. Even on one occasion, WHO Director General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus had asked countries with high numbers of Covid-19 sufferers to follow Vietnam's example. According to WHO, the Vietnamese government's rapid response is the key to overcoming the emergency in controlling the crisis at an early stage. If you look at the geographical location of Vietnam which is quite close to China as the initial location of the emergence of this virus, it is not impossible that Vietnam is one of the countries that is very vulnerable to the spread of the virus. But Vietnam can go through that and become the 20 safest countries from Covid-19. Even Vietnam has rebuilt its country. What is the focus of the Vietnamese state in suppressing Covid-19, apart from its quick response, is how strictly Vietnam filters people coming in and out of the country and from outside the country. This restriction also includes minor policies in it such as massive inspection, visa suspension, etc. Vietnam has also learned a lot from its past infectious disease experience, so it has prepared an initial investment in the health sector. Policies in the form of strict restrictions on entry and exit as well as awareness to learn from this experience can be applied and help Indonesia suppress Covid-19 cases in Indonesia.

Abstract

This paper aims to explain how the alleviation of the recession that "almost" occurred in the Southeast Asia region was caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in late 2019 and spread to the Southeast Asian region in 2020 through Global Governance. This is because the existence of problems regarding health has implications for other problems such as economic problems where economic conditions have decreased and almost caused a recession in several Southeast Asian countries. Global Governance seeks to control this problem by issuing an international regime in order to overcome the recession problem through library research methods such as books, journals, articles and trusted website pages in searching for data and information about the writing that is done.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze how the role of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in resolving disputes over the termination of Indonesia's nickel exports to the European Union. Nickel has long been known as Indonesia's strategic commodity. After the establishment of the Asosiasi Penambang Nikel Indonesia (APNI) in 1901 nickel began to be managed for export activities. However, the Indonesian government through the policy of President Joko Widodo stopped exporting low grade nickel with a value of 1.7% to European Union countries. Therefore, the European Union also reports the policy of stopping exports to its country to the WTO free trade regime which has the right to regulate. Other countries did not respond like the European Union because Indonesian nickel is very important for the European Union. The research method used is descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. In collecting data, the author team used literature studies in the form of books, online journals, online articles that are relevant to the research topic. The findings of this study are that the settlement of disputes over the termination of Indonesia's nickel exports to the European Union is at the consultation stage at the WTO. The European Union has actually not accepted nickel exports from Indonesia for a long time and the European Union reporting action was actually carried out because the stainless steel and automotive industries that use nickel experienced a decline in interest, due to losing competitiveness with the Tiongkok state industry.

Abstract

This paper aims to describe the strategic position between the United States and Venezuela in the context of Venezuela's hyperinflation. Since 2016 Venezuela has experienced severe currency volatility and has become a backward country due to mismanagement of its economic policies. The occurrence of this phenomenon is known to have its roots in state takeovers of private companies in leading sectors and massive subsidies without a safety net during the oil price boom under Hugo Chavez's leadership. This instability was then inherited by his successor, Nicolas Maduro, which marked the weakening of the Venezuelan economy. Maduro initiated a policy of massive money printing and redenomination which in fact further increased domestic inflation. This is also directly proportional to the dynamics of the US-Venezuela relationship which started from the capitalist camp with the same pattern of interdependence. Over time, the spirit of Bolivarianism that strengthened in the Chavez and Maduro eras had a major impact on the relations between the two countries in terms of their strategic position. This of course has implications both at the level of ideology and trade between countries. This paper uses a qualitative-descriptive research method with literature study as a data source in describing the research problem. The researcher uses the theory of realism as an analytical lens and the conception of Bolivarianism which explains the behavior of Venezuela as a country overshadowed by a struggle for power.
