Abstract

Non-consensual forwarding of sexts is a form of online sexual harassment. This behavior is often foundduring teenage years up to young adults. The impacts to the victim are reputational damage, a feelingof violated, and a possible emergence of trauma. This research aims to describe the intention of nonconsensual forwarding of sexts using the theory of planned behavior as the theoretical framework. Theapproach implemented in this research was qualitative design using thematic analysis. Participantsinvolved in this study are 4 male teenagers. The data collection method used is a semi-structured onlineinterview. The findings showed that non-consensual forwarding of sexts as the result of attitude towardsthe behavior, perceived norms, and self-efficacy. On the one hand, this behavior is regarded as wrongand should not be done. On the other hand, it is rated as a positive behavior since it brings satisfactionto the individual. The biggest driving force is the subjective norms perceived among their peer group.Their peer groups were not only refrain from punishing this behavior, but also encouraged this. Therefore, non-consensual forwarding of sexts is deemed to be easier when done with trusted peoplelike close friends. Even so, there is still the fear of getting caught by others, especially the victims.

Abstract

Abstract

Late adolescent aged 18-25 are expected to overcome obstacles and make decisions as transition to adulthood. Self-regulation is needed that adolescents had to have self-control. Self-regulation is an individual's ability to consider goals, commitments and rewards to respond environmental demands. Maternal parenting style is an important thing to form selfregulation. Maternal parenting style is mother’s set rules, reward, punishmet and respond to children’s behavior. This quantitative study aims to describe the relationship between maternal parenting style and late adolescent’sself-regulation. The participants were 134 teenagers aged 18 to 25 living with their mother. The instruments are Self-Regulation Questionnaire and Scale of Parenting Style. The data was analysed using Pearson correlation techniques. The results showed significant correlation between maternal parenting style and late adolescent’s selfregulation (r = .348, p<.01, two tailed). This result fitted with previous research which stated that primary environment is considered to have great role in late adolescent’s self-regulation than other factors.

Abstract

The role of a mother in a family is very complicated. To be able to perform these roles optimally, the mother needs physical and mental (psychic) energy management. Sleep is one of the mostimportant but often neglected as a physical and mental management. The problem of sleep inwomen is not a popular topic regarding the physical and mental well-being of womencomparing to other issues such as self-esteem. This study aims to explore the co-sleeping andnon-co-sleeping arrangements among mothers and the reasons behind the sleep settingscurrently apply. This study also aims to explore the sleep patterns and the correlation betweenthe reasons for sleep arrangements and their sleep patterns.Participants were 115 mothers with children age 6 months until 10 years old who live inJogjakarta. The survey was the data collection method. The research instrument was aquestionnaire on Sleep arrangements and Sleep Patterns, analyzed using descriptive analysisand Spearman correlation analysis. The results showed that 49.1% of mothers applied co-sleeping arrangements every day, while15.8% of mothers applied non-co-sleeping (sleeping separately with their children). The age ofthe subject's children ranged from 6 months to 10 years. The main reason for their sleeparrangement was “best for children's sleep quality” (61.4%). As many as 62.2% of mothershave poor and very poor sleep patterns. And this poor sleep pattern has a negative andsignificant correlation (-0.028) with the reason that sleep settings are “best for children's sleepquality”. It means that mothers arguing that the sleeping arrangements are best for theirchildren, tend to have a poor sleep pattern.

Abstract

Sleep is usually related to dreaming. However, it is still unknown why people dream and what is the importance of having a dream. This article will explore previous theories regarding dreaming and its association with REM sleep. The earliest research on sleeping and dreaming was marked by Eugene Aserinsky and professor Nathaniel Kleitman, which found a new stage of sleep called rapid eye movement or REM sleep. Then William Dement developed more research specifically in the field of dream observation. Both Aserinsky and Dement, along with Kleitman as their supervisor, became pioneers in sleep and dream studies. More studies were then developed with theory and hypothesis that tried to explain the mystery of dreaming, such as psychoanalytical dream theory and the activation – synthesis hypothesis. Despite both perspectives were opposed, those studies helped researcher in the field of dream to understand the relation between dreaming and REM sleep. Future research is needed in order to conduct a reliable interpretation of the manifest dream content and a stronger scientific basis in understanding the latent content of the dream.
