Abstract

In this research, has been done the next usage of ultrasonic and fuzzy logic to determine fruit maturity level. Reflection of ultrasonic with different frequency are used to measure water content and fruit texture in other side fuzzy logic are used to determine the fruit maturity level depend on water content and fruit texture. The research was limited to avocado, mango and papaya. Sample of data obtained by measure 30 fruit of each kind and test it with laboratories to calibrate and also test it with human perception to prove the fact of maturity. The result of this research is device that can transmit ultrasonic signal then read the reflection of it and MatLab application to fuzzy logic processing. Accuracy and precision analyzing give the result that the sistem have a good accuracy and precision with low condition of error rate. However, analyze give not good condition of precision for the percentage of maturity level. Analyze with statistic calculation give the result that there is a strong and linear correlation between water content and fruit texture with the level of fruit maturity. The research found that the fruit in mature condition is not always having sweet taste and also the opposite.

Abstract

In this design, microcontroller ATMega8 and a wireless joystick device of the Play Station 2 are used to control a mobile robot manipulator. The wireless joystick device consists of a transmitter and receiver modules. The device is connected to the microcontroller using Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) communication. The received data in the receiver module from the transmitter module is accessed by the microcontroller. Once received by the microcontroller, the data is used as reference in controlling various actuators in mobile robot manipulator. The results of testing, such as testing of forward and backward motion, turn right and turn left motion and the testing of manipulator motion, show that the wireless control system can control mobile robot manipulator as expected. Wireless communication between the transmitters to the receiver can be connected well at a distance of 0 to 10 meters. Meanwhile, at a distance of more than 10 meters wireless communication cannot be connected.

Abstract

Renewable energy sources is a solution of alternative energy to overcome the electricity crisis in Indonesia. Hybrid Power Plant at Baru Padansimo beach, Bantul, Yogyakarta, is the pilot project of Hybrid energy based on potentials of solar energy and wind power which used as models in the developement of renewable energy in integrated manner through Regional Inovation System. Performance of a hybrid power system can be evaluated from reliability system and economic aspects. In general, integration on Hybrid Power Plant system is a multivariable system, so to model the hybrid system, a 2.68 version of HOMER (Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewables) software is needed. This software optimizes the design of Hybrid Power Plant system based on the lowest NPC value with estimated measurements or system capacity and costs as outputs. Pandansimo Hybrid Power Plant system configuration consists of PLTS and PLTB. The analysis of Pandansimo Hybrid Power Plant system is done through two systems modeling Off-Grid and On-Grid. First, the results of the analysis indicate that the Hybrid Power Palnt system is feasible in meeting the needs of users of electrical energy based on the total net present value (NPC) of U.S. $ 307,302, generating cost (COE) of U.S. $ 0.872 per kWh, electricity production capacity of 121, 239 kWh per year, and the excess of electricity during the year amounted to 94 705 kWh. Second, the configuration of Hybrid Power Plant system On-Grid can improve the effectiveness of Pandansimo Hybrid Power Plant in the utilization of renewable energy sources as to reduce the NPC to U.S. $ 253,850, at a cost of U.S. $ 0.720 COE. The ability of selling electricity at 94,705 kWh per year. Configuration system to grid can also reduce network’s CO2 emissions by 31,557 pounds per year.
