Abstract

The church is facing challenges due to the growing secularization of society, leading to a decline in religious influence and participation. The Parish Pastoral Council plays a vital role in the Catholic Church, assisting the priest in fostering an active and enthusiastic parish community. The council's effectiveness depends on active involvement and quality formation from the parish. The study aimed to assess the level of involvement in doctrine, worship, and values, as well as the extent of formation in didache (teachings), koinonia (community), and diakonia (service) of 180 randomly selected parish pastoral council officers in the Eastern Vicariates of the Archdiocese of Capiz. A validated and reliability-tested researcher-made questionnaire was used to gather the data on the socio-demographic profile of the respondents; the level of involvement and the extent of formation of parish pastoral council officers. Statistical tools used to analyze and interpret data were frequency count, percentage, mean, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson-r. Utilizing the quantitative research design, the results revealed that the level of involvement and the extent of formation of the parish pastoral council officers was “high". The respondents' overall degree of involvement and formation was rated as "high", and when viewed collectively had the same "high level" observed in doctrine, worship, values, didache (teachings), koinonia (community), and diakonia (service). However, doctrine and didache (teachings) are the lowest among the variables of involvement and formation. The parish priest should prioritize and emphasize doctrinal formation for the council members. This can be done through workshops, study groups, and inviting guest speakers to provide in-depth teachings on Church doctrines.

Abstract

This study examined the perceptions of teacher collaboration and student achievement among 119 public elementary school teachers in District 1 of Roxas City Division for the academic year 2023-2024. The intent was to analyze the interrelation between teachers' collaborative efforts and student success in the educational setting. This descriptive-correlational designed study utilized a validated and reliability-tested, researcher-made questionnaire. The research stands out by providing empirical evidence from a specific educational district, thus enriching the body of knowledge concerning teacher interactions and their direct impact on student performance. The findings of this study underscored a very satisfactory level of teachers' collaboration alongside a satisfactory level of student achievement. Interestingly, no significant differences were noted in the degree of teachers' collaboration or students' achievement when respondents were categorized by sex, age, length of service, or grade level taught. Moreover, a significant positive correlation was identified between the degree of teachers' collaboration and the level of students' achievement. Based on these findings, it is recommended that educational policy and practice continue to support and enhance teacher collaboration as a lever for raising student achievement. The absence of significant differences across demographic groups suggests that collaborative practices are universally beneficial and should be encouraged across the board. Further research could explore the causal nature of this relationship and identify specific collaborative practices that are most effective in improving student outcomes.

Abstract

Leadership is ever-evolving with approaches that employ innovation addressing institutional context-specific challenges while manifesting a level of quality. Employing a mixed-method research approach using explanatory sequential design, this study delves on leadership in the academe to uplift quality education through innovation practices for the development of learners to be globally capable in the future. Hence, this study described, differentiated, and correlated leadership innovation practices and quality education in Capiz as perceived by the 255 randomly selected integrated school teachers and 8 FGD participants coming from the Schools Divisions of Roxas City and Capiz respectively. Frequency, percentage, mean, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson r were used to analyze the data from researcher-made questionnaires while the qualitative data were thematically analyzed. Results showed that leadership innovation practices as manifested by the school heads were significantly manifested through concrete pieces of evidence in addressing, valuing, and designing strategic innovative practices in terms of service, process, and marketing; quality education was comprehended as significantly manifested through policies and considering issues in the educative process reflective of quality in terms of accessibility, pedagogical leadership, and evidence-based practices; leadership innovation practices had a significant difference only when educational attainment of the respondents was considered; the demographics of the respondents did not affect the quality education; and, leadership innovation practices and quality are mutually dependent. Thus, leadership innovation schemes vis-à-vis school-based management strategies may be considered to enhance innovative facets of school management. Future investigation in leadership, innovation, and quality education is further recommended.

Abstract

Educational equity and learning environment are pressing issues among schools. Since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, various programs monitoring efforts have been carried out to contribute significantly to the schools’ quality of services. One of those was this quantitative study which used a descriptive-correlational approach to investigate the level of educational equity and the extent of learning environment of junior high school students in Schools Division of Roxas City in the school year 2023-2024 as perceived by the teachers. After a comprehensive and critical review of data collected from two hundred and sixty-two (262) selected teacher-respondents, it was found that they perceived educational equity and learning environment as "very high". It revealed that there was no significant difference in the level of educational equity among junior high school students when respondents were grouped by age, sex, and educational attainment. Moreover, there was no significant difference in the extent of learning environment when teacher-respondents were grouped by age, sex, and educational attainment. The level of educational equity is significantly related to the extent of educational equity of the students. With these relevant results, it is recommended that schools should intensify and implement quality programs for all learners, provide equal learning opportunities, ensure free internet access, create learner's handbook, establish clubs and organizations, conduct trainings and seminars for teachers, and assign tasks and responsibilities relevant to teachers' age, gender, and expertise for them to be more productive and effective.
