Abstract

The eruption of Mount Sinabung from 2010 to 2019 greatly damaged crops and agricultural land in the area, with damage varying from mild to very heavy, mostly due to land and crops being swept away by hot clouds and covered in lava and volcanic ash. One of the areas affected by the eruption of Mount Sinabung was Tigapancur Village, Simpang Empat District, but it was still classified as a safe zone so that agriculture is still active. The eruption of Mount Sinabung was very disturbing to agriculture, due to volcanic ash so that production has decreased. This study aims to assess the chemical properties of soil in areas affected by volcanic ash of Mount Sinabung in the Tigapancur Village, Simpang Empat District, Karo Regency and soil analysis at the Research and Development Laboratory of PT. Nusa Pusaka Kencana Analytical & Qc. The Tebing Tinggi Bahilang Laboratory of Medan from October to November 2019. The results showed that there were differences in soil chemical properties including the degree of acidity (pH) and unequal macro-essential elements (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S), so they were divided into several criteria (very low, low, medium and very high) both on land not affected by volcanic ash with a depth range of 0 - 5 cm and 5 - 20 cm.

Abstract

Andung sari 1 coffee seeds made in Suka Mbayak Village have a large fruit production, but not too high, do not have many wild shoots, are resistant to pests and stems so that farmers are more interested in planting Arabica coffee seeds (Coffea arabica) Andung sari varieties 1. The research method in the research area was determined purposively or deliberately based on the primary data of 20 families of Andung sari 1 arabica coffee farmers, with the characteristics of the respondents described by gender, education, age and occupation. Based on the results of respondents in the field according to gender, the male andung sari coffee farmers were the most respondents (90.1%). Based on the latest education, the most respondents were junior high school and high school students (38.8%). According to respondents, the most age groups were respondents aged 31 - 40 years (65.6%) and while based on job respondents the most respondents were coffee farmers (60.5%). Based on the results of the above research, it can be concluded that cultural, social, personal and psychological factors simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on the decision to purchase Arabica coffee seedlings of Andung Sari 1 variety, this can be seen in the value of F count> F table (18,144> 2,494 ) and the significant value is smaller than the significant level 0.05 (0.000 <0.05), then the fifth hypothesis is accepted, meaning that it simultaneously has a positive influence on the decision to purchase Andung Sari 1 coffee seedlings.

Abstract

This reserch aims to determine the effect of comparison of planting media and and growth regulator concentration on the growth and propagation of G-0 Potato seeds. This research was carried out in the Screen house of the Raya Village garden, Berastagi District, Karo Regency, North Sumatra Province, with a place of ± 1,300 m asl. This research was carried out from January to April 2019. This reserch used the Factorial Randomized Block Design method of two treatment factors, namely the comparison treatment of planting media with the symbol "M" which consists of five levels, namely: without compost (M0 ), 30% compost (M1), 50% compost (M2), 70% compost (M3), and 100% compost (M4). The second factor was giving a growth regulator concentration with the symbol "Z" which consists of three levels, namely: without concentration (Z0), 1.5 ml /L (Z1), and 3 ml / L (Z2). So that 15 treatment combinations were obtained, each treatment was repeated 3 times. The results of the observational data were then analyzed for variance with an F level of 5%. If there is a significant difference (p <0.05), then the test is continued with the Duncan test. The results showed that the treatment comparison of the planting media had a significant effect (p <0.05) on the variable growth in plant height, development of stem diameter, production each sample, and production each plot, and had no significant effect (p> 0.05) on number of branch. The treatment of growth regulator concentration had a significant effect (p <0.05) on production variables each sample, and production each plot, and had no significant effect (p> 0.05) on variable growth in plant height, development of stem diameter, and number of branch.

Abstract

Chyperus rotundus L. is a weed that is very fast spreading, growing and developing. Nut weeds can have a high adaptability seen from the ability to grow in various types of land. Starting from dry land, humid land to wet / inundated or muddy land. Sandy, clay or sandy loam land. This nut weed also has a high competitive power in terms of its ability to compete with other weeds, to keep growing and tends to be the dominant weed in a planted area. Various attempts were made to suppress the growth of this weed nut. Mulch is a method used to suppress the growth of nut weeds in this study. There are three types of mulch used in this study, namely rice husks, rice straw and reeds and control treatment. The three mulches were applied to two thicknesses, namely the thickness of 250 gr / plot and 500 gr / plot. The results showed that the inorganik mulch treatment of rice husks, straw and alang alang and its thickness of 250 g / m² and 500 g / m² did not have a significant effect in suppressing the growth of nut weed (Chyperus rotundus L.). Straw mulch first undergoes decomposition compared to rice husk mulch and Imperata, so that the percentage of growth of shallot (allium cepa L.) plants is higher than with submerged mulch and reeds.
