Abstract

Mental poverty is a condition where a person feels less with all the assets he has. Basically, poverty is a condition where a person cannot fulfill his life's needs, but a poor mentality does not occur in poor people alone, many people who are well-off have a poor mentality so that someone can justify any means to make himself richer, it could be by theft, corruption or even other things. In the Qur'an people who have a poor mentality are not praiseworthy because it can make people ungrateful for the wealth they have. Therefore in social life this poor mentality is one of the problems that must be corrected so that in community life it will make it more comfortable and can make the heart calmer. The purpose of this article is to find out the extent of this poor mentality as a social problem by using the literature study method or the method of reading, taking and analyzing journals and books, as well as using the interview method or interviewing humans as objects. The final result of this research is that mental poverty is a social problem that is still very minimal in society's care for it, so it needs solutions from internal and external to overcome it.

BLT PKH is one form of government program that focuses on assisting the poor in meeting their needs, improving the welfare of poor families, and reducing poverty in Indonesia. BLT itself originated from 2005 presidential instruction number 12, which was carried out by the President who served at that time, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and his deputy, Jusuf Kalla. The purpose of this research is to measure the effectiveness of BLT PKH in improving the welfare of the families of pedicab drivers in Kartini Village, Binjai Kota, as BLT recipients, based on theories, variables, and also real events in the field. This research is qualitative, with data collection techniques carried out by combining (triangulation) the processes of in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, which are then analyzed by researchers qualitatively and concluded with drawing conclusions from the results of the research that has been done. The results of the family welfare research are not fully influenced by the effectiveness of BLT PKH. It is recommended that the government continue to supervise and program similar assistance programs to continue to overcome the problems of poverty in Indonesia.

Abstract

Teachers are the main agent to ensure the integration of STEM approach in Early Mathematics education at the preschool level is successfully implemented.  This study determines the extent to which the preschool teachers are ready to teach Early Mathematics based on STEM approach. This study also aims to determine the relationships of knowledge, interest and teaching attitude with teaching readiness among preschool teachers. The research used a descriptive and quantitative design that involved 253 preschool teachers selected using stratified random sampling from five districts in Sabah, namely, Sandakan, Telupid, Ranau, Tuaran and Penampang. Data obtained from questionnaires were analyzed with IBM SPSS version 26.0 using Pearson Correlation. Findings of the study showed that the preschool teachers perceived teaching knowledge and readiness highly but teaching interest and attitude were perceived moderately. The relationships of knowledge, interest and teaching attitude with teaching readiness were positive and significant but the strength of correlation differs whereby knowledge correlated highly with teaching readiness but interest and attitude correlated poorly with teaching readiness for Early Mathematics based on STEM approach. These findings encourage more efforts to improve teaching interest and attitude through intervention such as provision of extrinsic compensation, implementation of continuous teacher professionalism development program that focuses on digital media and sophisticated technology usage as well as creation of conducive school culture. These strategic efforts are hoped to enhance knowledge, interest and attitudes of the preschool teachers and carry out their responsibilities in realizing STEM education to teaching Early Mathematics.

Abstract

This article discusses the transformation of the Aceh diaspora political movement in Yogyakarta. By taking the community of Gerakan Surah Buku, this article strengthens Missbach's (2012) argument that the long-distance politics of the Acehnese diaspora has shifted to identity politics, meaning that the long-distance politics of the diaspora has not completely disappeared, but has undergone changes. The position of this article then tries to show these changes through ethnographic research in one of the literacy communities, Gerakan Surah Buku, Yogyakarta. This article shows that the form of identity politics is not only the effect of the shift of long-distance politics, but has become an alternative and creative articulation of the remnants of the previous Acehnese diaspora long-distance political movement. This research uses auto-ethnography, a research method that allows researchers to be directly involved for a long period of time. The article also shows how ethnic identities that are struggling in the diaspora have formed a hybrid culture in articulating trending issues in youth activism movements, such as human rights, peace, justice and freedom.

Jenang procot or procot porridge is one of the typical foods served during the tingkeban ceremony. Jenang procot is an important dish in the tingkeban ceremony because it symbolizes the parents' hopes for the smooth birth of the unborn baby.
