Abstract

This article discusses how the background of a places’ identity is formed and how it affects it. The identity place describes the place of the reality in it, about how society and infrastructure are constructed. For example, the identity of Negeri Seribu Suluk is the identity of the Rokan Hulu regency, which was formed in 1999. Negeri Seribu Suluk is one of the government's appreciations for Malay culture. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The results show that the identity built is based on Malay culture, close to Islamic nuances. The effects can be seen from two elements, namely the identity of people's places: physical appearance, behaviour, attitudes, and feelings. The other element is the identity of an area: physical forms, symbolic forms, institutional forms, individual perceptions, and collective perceptions.

Abstract

The 2020 Pilkada will be held simultaneously on December 9 to elect regional heads in 270 regions of Indonesia, one of which is the Province of Bali. Badung Regency is an area that has the highest voter participation rate reaching 84.62%. This study aims to see whether the exposure of Pilkada news on Instagram social media @ Beritabalimedia can affect the political participation of novice voters in Badung Regency. This research uses explanatory quantitative research method with Uses and Effects Theory . The data analysis technique used was simple linear regression analysis with the SPSS 18 program. The results showed that the exposure to the Pilkada news on Instagram @beritabalimedia social media had a positive influence on the political participation of novice voters in Badung Regency. When the news of the regional head election on Instagram @beritabalimedia increases, the political participation of novice voters in Badung Regency is also higher.

Abstract

This article discusses the change in the meaning of the swear word "Anjing" which is referentially as an insult and refers to the nature of an animal, namely a dog, into a word that is spoken as a sign of intimacy, warmth and closeness among members of an organizational group. This study uses a qualitative approach with the method of observation. Symbolic interaction theory is used to reveal how the word dog is constructed as a symbol of intimacy. The results showed that the word anjing became a symbol of intimacy through high-intensity interaction with the process of interpreting meaning, adjusting and forming institutions in a communal society.

Abstract

This paper aims to describe the role of the Black Lives Matter Movement in dealing with racism that occurred in the United States from 2013-2022. This writing was analyzed using a research method in the form of descriptive qualitative, where the writer tries to describe or provide an overview with existing words and data to answer the phenomenon regarding the issue of racism that occurred in the United States during the Pre and Post Civil Rights Movement period. The results of writing this article indicate that the Black Lives Matter Movement has succeeded in helping to produce several levels of criminal justice policy reform, such as legislative changes in 10 states in the United States. Policies at every level of the criminal justice system need to be looked at to ensure that they are not harmful to one race or over another.

Abstract

Deep Ecology has already spread around of scholars as mainstream perspective and ethic in environment conservation system. Indeed, it is required as the specific strategy for the implementation coastal ecosystem conservation approach. Ihis research is aim to found some social capital aspect in coastal community i.e social trust degrees, collective consciences, social values and norms, networking of social institution that need for coastal ecosystem conservation strategy. Based on this research, some aspects of Tapian Nauli coastal ecosystem should be conducted by co-option of local government, communities, corporations, and social organization partnership role to apply social capital capacity manner which is significant to reduct the coastal ecosystem degradation as well as a conservation strategy in Kota Sibolga and Kabupaten Tapanuli Tengah.

Abstract

Occupy a new place need accommodation communication. Accommodation communication is a method individuals adapt behavioral communication with individual another. Every year Cottage Al- Muayyad Islamic Boarding School in Surakarta received Students new. Studies this review about how accommodation communication Students Year Teaching 2021/2022 Pondok Al- Muayyad Islamic Boarding School, Surakarta. Study this with descriptive qualitative in form studies case use Interview for collect data. Engaging two mercy informant with differentiate type gender , level school , age and origin different areas. Then , ccommodation communication that takes place between Students new studied with Accommodation Communication Theory (CAT) developed by Howard Giles. Accommodation Students is convergence and divergence. Stratgy communication used _ are approximation strategy and interpretability strategy. The motive used is an affective motive accommodation cooperative.
