Abstract

Background: As a dangerous insect, cockroach can contaminate the human food anywehere, including in the school canteens. The objective of this research was to describe the cockroach population density and diversity at the school canteens.Method: A research was conducted in Gunung Talang district, Solok regency, in November 2022. A saturated samples survey research method with cross sectional research design was used. The research population were 21 schools canteens in Gunung Talang district. Data were collected through observation. The cockroaches were collected using sticky traps which were operated for two nights. Identification of cockroaches was done using a microscope based on the cockroaches identification key. The cockroaches were counted based on its species and locations. The data were analyzed descriptively. Results: The number of cockroaches collected from 21 school canteens were 98. As many as 47.62% of the canteens could be categorized as clean from cockroach or very low cockroach population and 33.33% of them had low cockroach population. As many as 9.53% of the canteens had moderate, 4.76% high, and 4.76% very high levels of cockroach population. Six canteens had more than one species of cockroach. The cockroaches species found were Periplaneta australasiae, Periplaneta americana, Blatella germanica and Pycnoscelus surinamensis. Conclusion: The cockroach density at the school canteens in Gunung Talang district was varied. Six school canteens did not meet the health standard based on cockroach population density (>2). Six school canteens had the cockroach diversity more than one species.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is still becoming health problem  appeared in Semarang. Ngaliyan district is endemic area of DHF. People's behavior plays a role in the availability of container and the existence of larvae. The purpose of this research is to analize the relation between the knowledge and PSN practice with dengue vector bionomic in Ngaliyan. This research used cross sectional design. Sample was taken using purposive sampling technic based on the highest DHF case. The research sample 300 houses in total includes 100 houses in RW II, 100 houses in RW V, 100 houses in RW VI. The measuring of knowledge variable  and PSN practice used quissioner meanwhile vector bionomic variable used observation paper. Statistic analyse was done using chi square test. The result showed that Ngaliyan district was the area which has high possibility of DHF transmission with HI 30%, Cl 10,7% and BI 39,67. The identification of 593 mosquito in Ngaliyan district, 479 mosquito is Aedes aegypti. A total of 1.112 containers were inspected and 119 larvae positive container. Containers are the most abundant larvae are located in the bathtub in the house.  There was the relation between knowledge about dengue vector and PSN with larva’s existence (p=0,0001). There was the relation between PSN practice with larva’s existence (p=0,0001). The suggestion for all to do PSN practice regularly with assistance so that the existence of larvae in Ngaliyan district progress can be monitored.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorhagic Fever is cause by infections with the Dengue virus. DHF cases related to the presence of Aedes Aegypti larvae are influence by community behavior in preventing and eradicating dengue fever. Eradicating dengue mosquito larvae is known as eradicating mosquito nests (PSN) which is carried out using 3M, Biological and Chemical steps. The aim of this research is to determines the relationship between dengue PSN behavior and mosquito breeding sites and the presence of Aedes Aegypti larvae in Jetak Village, Wedarijaksa District, Pati Regency. This research is an analyctical observational study with a cross sectional approach with a sample of 102 respondent using the random sampling (SRS) method. Data analysis used univariate results and bivariate tests using Chi Square. These independent variables are PSN behavior, breeding places, and the presenced of Aedes Aegypti mosquito larvae. The research results show that based on the Chi Square test with= 5%, PSN behavior p < 0.001 (95% CI 0.098-0.137), and brooding place p < 0.001 (95% CI 0.098-0.140). The conclusiont of this research is that there is a relationship between PSN behavior and mosquito breeding places and the presence of Aedes Aegypti larvae in Jetak Village, Wedarijaksa District, Pati Tahum Regency in 2023.

Abstract

Personal Background: The Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) cases in Semarang City ranked seventh highest in Central Java in 2022 with an Incidence Rate (IR) of 42.41 per 100,000 population. The district with the highest number of DHF cases was Banyumanik District, reaching 712 cases of dengue fever. Pudakpayung Sub-district experienced a more than threefold increase in DHF cases in 2022. One mandatory DHF prevention program is Routine Larval Survey (PJR) conducted by mosquito control workers (Jumantik). Due to the lack of consistent and optimal PJR implementation in Pudakpayung Sub-district, this research was conducted to investigate the relationship between educational level, employment status, and length of service of Jumantik with the implementation of PJR in Pudakpayung Sub-district. Method: The method used is analytical with a cross-sectional study design. The sample size is 115, determined by simple random sampling with the condition of one Jumantik sample per neighborhood unit (RT) in all neighborhood administrative areas (RW) of Pudakpayung Sub-district. Result The results of this study indicate that the majority of respondents have a high level of education, with 86 respondents (74.8%), are unemployed, totaling 84 respondents (73%), have been on duty for a long time, totaling 67 respondents (58.3%). Additionally, 84 respondents (73%) comply with implementing PJR according to regulations. Conclusion: Efforts are needed to cultivate understanding and disseminate information through various methods evenly to improve the knowledge level of Jumantik as the implementer of the dengue fever prevention program.
