Jurnal Gramatika: Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia (2442-8485) & (2460-6316), well-known as GRAMATIKA, is an international forum for original research focused on identities as local contexts, like an identity in linguistics, identity in literature, and identity in language education in global and local contexts, especially in Indonesia. These may include but are not limited to various fields, such as we are interested in interdisciplinary studies examining how issues of linguistics, literature, and education in language influence individual and community identities. In order to publish in GRAMATIKA, a study must have an overview of previous research or theoretical concepts that are packaged to justify the novelty/uniqueness of this study and central focus on local, foreign, minority, heritage, or indigenous languages (or non-standard dialects) and their intersection with either identity and/or education in language, linguistics and literature. We welcome a variety of topics, theoretical orientations, and methodological approaches (both qualitative and quantitative). Jurnal Gramatika: Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia published by Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia Universitas PGRI Sumatera Barat, in collaboration with Asosiasi Dosen Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia (ADOBSI) and Perkumpulan Pengelola Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia serta Pengajarannya (PPJB-SIP). Issues are published biannual (April and October) in English since 2020. Submissions are open year-around. However, before submitting, please ensure that the manuscript within Jurnal Gramatika: Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia is written in English or Bahasa Indonesia and follows our focus and scope and author guidelines. Jurnal Gramatika: Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia has been accredited by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, the Republic of Indonesia in 2018 (SINTA 3). Now, Jurnal Gramatika: Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia has been accredited SINTA 2 (2020) by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, the Republic of Indonesia started from Volume 6 Number 1 (2020). The last accreditation is valid until 2025.

Abstract

ABSTRACTEvaluation in writing is one of the efforts in improving competence in writing, in addition to planning teaching programs based on the writing process. However, evaluation in writing is not intended to improve students' understanding in writing, even writing is seen as a straightforward product, not produced through a repetitive process. Therefore, this study aims to produce a product in the form of an explanatory text writing evaluation tool based on a process approach. By using the ADDIE development model, it was designed an evaluation tool according to the writing process carried out by students in addition to paying attention to the task environment and long-term memory of students. The writing process is used as a reference in developing evaluation tools, ranging from planning, translation (developing ideas and ideas), and reviewing (evaluation and revision). Planning becomes the initial stage for students to gather ideas and generate memory by writing a writing framework in the form of a mind map. Translation is an effort to develop the writing framework into explanatory text by taking into account the linguistic structure and rules of the text. Review in the form of evaluating or evaluating the written text, then revising according to the writing criteria. The writing process that is done in stages is complemented by hard think-aloud procedures so students can asking the question to themselves to monitor writing activities. Keywords: evaluation tools, explanatory text, a process approach  ABSTRAKEvaluasi dalam menulis menjadi salah satu upaya dalam meningkatkan kompetensi dalam menulis, selain merencanakan program pengajaran yang berbasis proses dalam menulis. Akan tetapi, evaluasi dalam menulis dilakukan tidak bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman peserta didik dalam menulis, bahkan tulisan dipandang sebagai produk yang langsung jadi, bukan dihasilkan melalui proses yang berulang. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa alat evaluasi menulis teks eksplanasi berbasis pendekatan proses. Dengan menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE, dirancang alat evaluasi  sesuai proses menulis yang dilakukan peserta didik di samping memperhatikan lingkungan tugas dan memori jangka panjang peserta didik. Proses menulis yang dijadikan acuan dalam mengembangkan alat evaluasi, mulai dari perencanaan, penerjemahan (mengembangkan ide dan gagasan), dan peninjauan kembali (evaluasi dan revisi). Perencanaan menjadi tahapan awal bagi peserta didik untuk mengumpulkan gagasan dan membangkitkan memori dengan cara menulis kerangka tulisan dalam bentuk peta pikiran. Penerjemahan menjadi upaya untuk mengembangkan kerangka tulisan menjadi teks eksplanasi dengan memperhatikan struktur dan kaidah kebahasaan teks. Peninjauan kembali dalam bentuk menilai atau mengevaluasi teks yang ditulis, lalu dlakukan revisi sesuai kriteria penulisan. Proses menulis yang dilakukan secara bertahap ini dilengkapi dengan prosedur berpikir keras (think aloud) sehingga peserta didik dapat bertanya kepada dirinya sendiri untuk memantau aktivitas menulis yang dilakukan. Kata Kunci: Alat evaluasi, teks eksplanasi, pendekatan proses

Abstract

The problem in this research is that rarely profanities used and understood as language forms to express compliments. This research paper aims to describe the linguistic forms, pragmatic meanings, and pragmatic functions of sexual activities-theme profanities in compliment speech acts on Twitter. Theories from Kreidler (2002), Ljung (2011), and Almos (2013)were used in this study. The observational method was used to collect the data. Distributional and identity methods were used to analyze the data. The results of this study demonstrate: (1) linguistic forms of the sexual activity-theme profanities are words, (2) the pragmatic meaning of the sexual activity-theme profanities is as utterance meaning, and (3) the pragmatic functions of the sexual activity-theme profanities are as adverbial and adjectival intensifier, expletive, noun support, and emphasis. This research hopefully can help EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students avoid misunderstanding while communicating in English with other English speakers on Twitter.

Abstract

This research is an advanced research from the previous research. This study aims at describing and explaining the politeness maxims that are fulfilled by the speech of student requesting to the lecturer at Dharma Andalas University. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Data are obtained from the utterances of requesting spoken between students and lecturers. The theory used in data analysis is the maxim of politeness by Leech. Based on data analysis, it shows that the maxim of politeness that is often filled with student speech is the maxim of agreement. About 40 percent of the maxim of agreement is fulfilled by the speech of student requesting to the lecturers. On the otherhand,30 percent of  maxim of symphaty occured in that anaysis. It was continued by the maxim of appreciation, the maxim of generosity and policy. However, the maxim of simplicity was not found in the speech of the student's requestingin Dharma Andalas University.

Abstract

This study discusses the reflection of life and urban society has a very close relationship; moreovermodern literature very often discusses the behavior of urban society in poetry. There are 30 poemswritten in Joko Pinurbo's book, and there are some of them which show how the urban communityrelates to their environment. The purpose of this study is to describe social portraits of urbancommunities in poetry and their relation to the realities that exist in society, as well as technologicaladvancements and lifestyle. This study uses descriptive methods to describe the state of the objectunder study by describing the things that are the center of attention and support the object of theresearch. The results of this study found 10 poems from 30 poetry titles in the Joko Pinurbo bookthat showed how the lives of people in urban society, their habits and how they relate to thecommunity in their environment. Jokpin's narratives bring the reader aware of how far urbansociety is with their environment. The results of this study can be used as a reference for the generalpublic.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the comparison of writing the report text of observations and exposition text using the web-based STAD model. This type of research is quantitative with the experimental method of Postest-Only Control Design. The sample of this study was 36 students of grade X MIPA 1 of SMAN 12 Padang. The results of the study using the web-based STAD model are for writing report text skills the results obtained an average score of 82.41 at a mastery level of 76-85% with Good qualifications (B) and exposition text writing skills gained an average score of 81.48 at a mastery level of 76-85% with Good qualifications. Based on the results of the t-test concluded that there is a comparison using the web-based STAD model because tcount> ttable (5.82> 1.68). So it can be concluded that web-based learning greatly affects student learning outcomes, especially in writing report texts on observations and expositions.

Abstract

The industrial revolution 4.0 clearly demands language learners to keep evolving to adapt to the environmental development. The learning of Pragmatics in the higher education cannot be based on the pragmatic concepts as what has happened recently, but it must be integrated with the fundamental research findings in the relevant fields of Pragmatics. This R & D raises the issue of: How the research findings on the situational and socio-cultural contexts are integrated in the material development of the Pragmatics course. The development of the Pragmatics course learning materials which integrates research findings in the pragmatic contexts is based on R & D model. The development output is then validated by experts, and piloted restrictively to several students. In the next step, the product output of the material development is revised to improve, which then will be published and disseminated. Due to the time constraint, this paper limits the scope of discussion only on the result of preliminary study. The other steps belong to the scope of different papers.

Abstract

Discourse analysis on Tempo online media. Co about PILPERS 2019 where a group or person is marginalized in the discourse. The purpose of this study is to describe the use of inclusion theory on political news and see the journalists' impartiality in the 2019 election in Tempo.co online news media. Data collection is done through three stages, (1) reading and understanding the discourse on Tempo's online mass media political news. The May 2019 edition of the Co with the aim of obtaining a clear understanding of the content of the discourse to be studied, (2) marking parts of discourse related to Leeuwen's inclusioan theory, and (3) inventorying sentences in discourses related to Leeuwen's inclusioan theory by sorting and grouping data. Analyzing data is done descriptively. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded, Leeuwen's inclusioan theory was found in eight Tempo mass media online news media. The May 2019 edition of Co consists of five of the seven existing theories, namely objectivity, nominations, nominations, identification, assimilation-individualization, and association-dissociation. Of the five Leeuwen inclusioan theories found there were 66 sentences containing Leeuwen's inclusioan theory. So, it can be concluded that in writing news about criminal journalists marginalizing victims. Journalists side with actors or actors. This can be seen from the way the journalists clearly portray the perpetrators and victims.

Abstract

Sebagai salah satu sastra lisan di Minangkabau yang masih terus dipertunjukkan, salawat dulang telah mengalami banyak sekali perubahan. Aspek humor dan hiburan lebih ditonjolkan. Meskipun begitu, salawat dulang pada dasarnya mengandung nilai-nilai luhur kebudayan Minangkabau yang menjadikannya patut untuk terus diwariskan dan dipertahankan sebagai salah satu warisan budaya. Berdasarkan hal itu, tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan nilai-nilai luhur kebudayaan Minangkabau yang terkandung pada sastra lisan Minangkabau, salawat dulang. Untuk itu, metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa pengamatan terhadap pertunjukan, wawancara, studi terhadap teks yang dituturkan, dan studi kepustakaan. Sedangkan kerangka teori yang digunakan adalah antropologi sastra lisan. Berdasarkan data dan hasil analisis, salawat dulang memiliki nilai-nilai yang lebih dari sekedar hiburan. Nilai-nilai luhur kebudayaan Minangkabau yang ditemukan adalah berbuat jasa, bekerja keras, dan menjunjung tinggi nilai egaliter dan solidaritas.

Abstract

Advertisement is a medium used to support an activity or a business. Through advertisement, the activity can spread out to the public or people. The study of advertisement can be associated to the field of pragmatics because  it contains several speech acts used by the producer or the content creator to the target of the advertisements itself, which one of them is commissive speech act. In relation to its purpose that is to introduce or to promote a product, either things or services, the commissive speech act is an effective way to use to attract the public’s attention. This research is aimed at identifying and explaining the functions and the strategies of the commissive speech acts. The source of data is the commercial advertisements of household appliances and health products on MNC Shop in December 2018. The data are collected by using observational method with recording and writing technique and analyzed by using pragmatic identity method. The result of the research shows that the commissive speech acts in the commercial advertisements of MNC Shop comprise promising, giving a guarantee, making a bet, and convincing. Meanwhile, the strategies used are direct utterance, literal direct utterance, and literal indirect utterance.

Abstract

This study aims to describe ideological formation and ideological negotiations in the drama text "Ronda" by Atut Adi Baskoro. With the focus of the problem raised in this study is the study of drama text by describing ideological formation and ideological negotiations in order to find the use of dominant group ideology and its impact on subaltern groups so that dominant ideologies and negotiated ideologies can be known. The ideological concept in this study uses a literary sociology approach initiated by Antonio Gramsci. The method used is descriptive quality. Data analysis techniques use content analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate the existence of ideological formation in the text, namely from the dominant group adhering to the ideology of fascism and anarchism which dominates the subaltern group of adherents of ideological mysticism. In the text also found the new common sense of the dominant and subaltern groups after ideological negotiations between the dominant and subaltern groups. The new common sense is in the form of a humanist ideology that prioritizes human values and position and makes it a criterion in all things.
