Abstract

The research aims to analyze the diversity of ferns, to know the distribution pattern and potential of ferns in TAHURA Mandiangin Sultan Adam. The research included sampling, measurement of environmental parameters as supportive data, identification of ferns samples, and data analysis. The research was conducted from October to December 2011. The research showed that, at different heights there are 548 individuals consisting of 16 species of ferns, including the 8 species of terrestrial and 8 kinds of epiphytic. Ferns are included into two classes, namely, Filicine and Lycopodinae, 6 Order, and 8 families are scattered at heights different. Indices of diversity in zone I-II showed diversity index is medium, in zone III has low species diversity. Distribution pattern is Uniform. The Location of existing research that can be used as ornamental plants, medicinal herbs, and vegetables.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the structure of phytoplankton communities in the pool are former coal mining Desa Kampung Baru Kecamatan Cempaka which include abundance, diversity, uniformity and dominance. Phytoplankton samples taken in two pools with a purposive sampling method with a three-point shooting at each pond. Sampling was performed three times. Phylum of phytoplankton were identified in both pools as much as 2 phylum (Chloropyta and Chrysopita) with 17 genera. Average abundance of phytoplankton in the first pool of 7174 ind / liter and 6873 ind / liter in the second pool. The average diversity index of phytoplankton in the first pool of 1.540 and 1.621 in the second pool. Average uniformity index of phytoplankton in the first pool of 0622 and 0.623 in the second pool. The average index of phytoplankton dominance in the first pool of 0271 and 0250 in the second pool. Analysis of community structure (abundance, diversity, uniformity and dominance) shows the condition of the two ponds in the state is quite stable and capable of supporting life inside the phytoplankton. Where the pool in the fertility rate is the level of contamination is, the conditions included in the category of individuals spread more evenly and there are no species that dominate other species in the extreme.

Abstract

Hydroponic cultivation systems are often applied to overcome the shortage of agricultural land in this case food crops, especially vegetables. Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) is the one of various ways to grow crops hydroponically. Hydroponic systems are carried out without the use of soil media and it can be an alternative solution for the efficient use of land. Uniformity of nutrients and nutrient solution concentration levels required to be adjusted. Nutrient solution as a water supply source and minerals. Nutrition is an important factor for the growth and quality of hydroponic plants should be appropriate in terms of the number of ion composition of nutrients. This study aimed to determined the effect of various treatments of hydroponic nutrient solution on plant growth kale. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Kale seed sowing in the growing media rockwool and nourished by nutrient A, nutrient B, combination of nutrients A and B (3: 1), or a combination of nutrients A and B (1: 3). Plant growth parameters such as plant height, number of leaves, wet weight, dry weight, and dry weight without root measured. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance ANOVA and DMRT test with α = 95%. The results showed that affect the nutrient solution hydroponic plant growth kale. Kale plants with a combination of nutrient A and nutrient B ratio of 3: 1 (treatment C) give the best response compared with other treatments.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the anatomical structure and histochemical test of terpenoid and phenol compounds in two varieties of green betel plants (Piper betle). Making leaves anatomical structure preparations using the fresh method, testing terpenoid compounds with 5% copper acetate, testing phenol with ferric trichloride 10% and some grains of sodium carbonate. The observations of the anatomical structure of green betel leaf varieties 1 and varieties 2 have similarities consisting of the upper epidermis, upper hypodermis, palisade parenchyma, parenchymal sponges, vascular bundles (xylem and phloem), sclerenchyma, cholenchyma, lower epidermis, lower hypodermis, secretory cells, trichoma, stoma and calcium oxalate crystals, and in varieties 2 look more trichomes. The anatomical structure of the variety 1 betel stem and varieties 2 are arranged from the outside in the direction of the epidermal tissue, colenchymal tissue, cortical bundles, sclerenchyma, cortex, medullary and peripheral vascular files, pith, the central part of the stem is a secretory gland. Phenol in betel vine varieties 1 and varieties 2 is positive in the secretion cell part which is spread in the parenchymal tissue of the mother's leaf bone and lamina, whereas in the stem is spread around the cortex and pith parenchyma. Positive secretion cells contain phenol not as much as secretory cells containing terpenoids. Based on quantitative observations the size of oil cell density and secretion cell diameter, the essential oils contained in the cell secretions in the leaves of variety 1 are more than varieties 2 while in the varieties 2, there are more varieties 1.

Abstract

Grayak caterpillar is a pest that always attacks the crops of horticultural and vegetables in Indonesia every growing season that causes farmers to experience crop failure. Kepayang plants contains some secondary metabolite compounds including high glycocyanide acid in each part of the plant. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect and optimal dosage of kepayang leaf extract as a vegetable pesticide on grayak caterpillar mortality. This research used Non-Factorial Randomized Complete Random Design (RCRD) with four treatments in two observation times and each treatment there were three replications. The extraction was done by maceration method using aceton p.a and thickened using rotary evaporator. Mustard as grayak caterpillar feed is dipped in kepayang leaf extract with three dose levels of 1.5gr / L, 1.75gr / L, and 2gr / L is observed for 72 hours and 96 hours. The results showed that pepper leaf extract had an effect on mortality of grayak caterpillar. Variant dose of pepper leaf extract (1.5gr / L, 1.75gr / L, and 2gr / L) in this study have the same cidal effect on grayak caterpillar.
