Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology, alongside the growing visibility of LGBTQ+ issues in contemporary society, presents significant challenges for Christian-based schools in nurturing students’ character and spiritual development. This study aims to analyze and describe the digital education strategy model and the school-based Christian Religious Education (CRE) curriculum implemented at Gideon Senior High School, Jakarta, in anticipation of students’ potential involvement in the LGBTQ+ community. Employing a qualitative descriptive method with an inductive approach, this research adopts case study and phenomenological perspectives to gain an in-depth and contextual understanding. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with the principal and CRE teachers, and document analysis. The research was conducted from January to April 2025, supported by preliminary observations of LGBTQ+ issues over the previous three years. The findings indicate that integrating digital education strategies into CRE learning significantly enhances the relevance and effectiveness of moral and spiritual instruction. The use of artificial intelligence (AI), digital animations, podcasts, Zoom, and YouTube fosters interactive, engaging learning experiences while supporting teachers in delivering character-based guidance. Moreover, the school-based CRE curriculum emphasises character formation through structured teaching, mentoring, counselling, discipleship, and spiritual practices such as worship, prayer, and fasting. It promotes moral integrity, emotional maturity, self-awareness, responsible decision-making, and a Christ-centred life guided by the Holy Spirit. The study concludes that the synergy among digital innovation, faith-based curriculum, and strong teacher-parent collaboration forms an effective preventive model for holistic Christian education in the contemporary digital era.

Abstract

The growing prevalence of adolescent sexual misconduct, including promiscuity, sexual harassment, and exposure to pornography, highlights the urgent role of Islamic Religious Education in fostering moral awareness and character formation among Muslim youth. This study aims to examine the Al-Qur'an and Hadith perspectives on sex education, analyze the core values of Islamic sex education, and explore how these values can be integrated into the teaching of Islamic Religious Education. This research uses a literature-based qualitative approach using thematic analysis of Al-Qur'an verses and Prophetic traditions related to sexuality, supported by relevant scientific literature in Islamic education and ethics. Findings show that the core values of Islamic sex education include personal purity (iffah), control of desires, moral responsibility, preservation of dignity, and ethical social behavior. These values can be systematically integrated into the teaching of Islamic religious education through the domains of aqidah, morals, fiqh, and date, especially through contextual learning strategies and teacher moral examples. This study concludes that sex education based on the Qur'an and Hadith not only serves as a framework for preventing moral deviations but also as a foundation for building strong character among Muslim youth.

Abstract

Elementary school students face increasing psychosocial and academic pressures, yet the role of extracurricular activities in shaping their resilience remains underexplored, particularly in the Indonesian primary education context. This study aims to analyze differences in resilience levels among elementary school students based on the types of extracurricular activities they participate in. A quantitative cross-sectional survey design was employed involving 114 fourth-to-sixth-grade students from six private elementary schools in Kuningan Regency, selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a resilience questionnaire grounded in seven adaptive skill aspects and analyzed using descriptive statistics, cross-tabulations, Pearson’s Chi-Square test, and Monte Carlo simulation, with relationship strength measured using Cramér’s V coefficient. Results showed that the majority of students fell in the moderate resilience category, but significant differences existed across extracurricular activity types. Science and sports activities showed a greater proportion of high resilience compared to arts, religious, English, and scouting activities. The difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05) with a medium-to-large effect size (Cramér’s V = 0.416). These findings confirm that not all extracurricular activities contribute equally to resilience development. This research enriches Positive Youth Development studies by providing comparative quantitative evidence in Indonesian primary education and highlights the importance of designing evidence-based extracurricular programs that integrate social-emotional skills development.
