Abstract

This study aims to conduct non-communicable disease surveillance with a focus on the relationship between the level of knowledge about diabetes mellitus and age level in Kuta Tuha Village, Panga District, Aceh Jaya Regency. Diabetes mellitus is one of the non-communicable diseases whose prevalence continues to increase in various regions, including in Indonesia. Adequate knowledge of the disease is essential for effective prevention and management. This study involved the entire population of Kuta Tuha Village consisting of 107 households, with the study period lasting for one month, from December 21, 2023 to January 10, 2024. Data were collected through a questionnaire designed to evaluate respondents' level of knowledge regarding diabetes mellitus and identify age as an important variable in understanding. The results of univariate analysis showed that the majority of respondents in this study were male (82.2%). The most common age group was 48-50 years old, which accounted for 50.5% of the total respondents. Despite previous socialization efforts regarding diabetes, there were still 17.8% of the population suffering from diabetes mellitus. It is recommended that health education programs be improved, with a more specific and sustainable approach, especially targeting the 48-50 years age group. This could include regular counseling, distribution of easy-to-understand educational materials, and establishment of support groups for people with diabetes and their families. Overall, this study provides important insights into the relationship between knowledge of diabetes mellitus and age, and emphasizes the importance of ongoing health education to improve public understanding of non-communicable diseases.

Abstract

The aging process is a continuous series of bodily modifications that can impair the body's cholesterol-regulating functions. This study aimed to determine if there's a correlation between dietary habits and increasing cholesterol levels among the elderly population in Indra Jaya sub-district. Employing a cross-sectional survey design, researchers collected data from elderly residents in Tengela village through questionnaires. The findings indicate a strong association between consuming fruits and vegetables and maintaining healthy cholesterol levels in the majority (93.5%) of participants. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant relationship between dietary patterns, physical activity, and cholesterol levels in this elderly group. Further analysis delved into the frequency and distribution of these factors. Essentially, this research suggests that dietary choices play a crucial role in cholesterol management for the elderly.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of UKGS in improving dental and oral hygiene in elementary school students aged 7 to 9 years at SDN 2 Calang and MIS Cendikia Panton Makmur, Krueng Sabee District, Aceh Jaya Regency. This study is a quantitative descriptive research. The population in this study consisted of 339 elementary school students from SDN 2 Calang and MIS Cendikia Panton Makmur. The research sample was selected using a purposive random sampling technique, comprising 84 students aged 7 to 9 years. Data collection techniques included both primary and secondary data. The research instrument involved examining children's dental plaque using the PHP-M index, and the data were analyzed using chi-square analysis. The study found that schools with UKGS had 93% of students with good dental hygiene, compared to 64.3% in schools without UKGS. Chi-square analysis indicated a significant difference (p = 0.003), confirming the influence of UKGS on dental and oral hygiene. In conclusion, the School Dental Health Program (UKGS) positively impacts dental and oral hygiene among elementary school children, with better outcomes in schools implementing the program.

Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate the factors influencing the development of hypertension among patients at the Krueng Barona Jaya Health Center in Aceh Besar District. Employing a quantitative cross-sectional research design, the study analyzed data from a sample of 87 individuals selected from a total population of 641. The study focused on several potential determinants of hypertension, including gender, age, family history, physical activity levels, dietary habits, and smoking status. Statistical analysis using the chi-square test revealed significant associations between hypertension and three factors: gender, age, and diet. These findings suggest that being female, older, and having specific dietary patterns increased the likelihood of developing hypertension in this population. Conversely, family history and physical activity levels were not found to be significantly associated with hypertension in this particular study. These results highlight the importance of considering gender, age, and dietary modifications in hypertension prevention and management strategies for the population served by the Krueng Barona Jaya Health Center.

Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 1.5 million children die each year from immunization-preventable diseases. In 2018 there were approximately 20 million children who did not get complete immunization and there were even children who did not get immunized at all. This study aims to determine the description of the implementation system of the complete basic immunization program for infants in Pasie Raya sub-district, 2021. This type of research uses quantitative research using a descriptive approach. Sampling using the total sampling method, namely 41 immunization section employees at each puskesmas using a questionnaire. Indicators such as planning are carried out routinely, immunization implementation has also been carried out according to schedule, preparation by officers has also gone well, coordination between sectors has also gone well, and the evaluation carried out has also run smoothly. Output indicators covering complete basic immunization coverage still have several puskesmas that have not reached the complete basic immunization target. It is expected that the local government to provide good distribution of funds and strive to increase the coverage of complete basic immunization.
