Abstract

The rising number of skin cancer cases in recent decades and the limitations of early detection methods, such as costly and less accessible biopsies, highlight the need for an affordable, accessible solution. This study aims to design a smart mobile healthcare application integrating a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to detect skin cancer early through digital imaging. Using a dataset of 5,100 images categorized into melanoma, non-melanoma, and normal skin, the CNN model based on VGG16 architecture was trained and evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. The model achieved 93.14% testing accuracy, 86.93% average training accuracy, and the F1-score 0.89. The UI/UX design follows the design thinking approach, emphasizing a user-friendly, fast, and interactive interface. Core features include user login, skin image scanning, classification results, and AI-based consultation. The application is intended to serve as an effective, accessible tool for early skin cancer detection, supporting timely clinical diagnosis for all users.

Abstract

Mental disorders often bring significant cognitive impairments, which can hinder daily functioning and the overall quality of life. This research explores the effectiveness of using Snakes and Ladders and crossword puzzles as cognitive therapy tools for individuals with mental disorders. These games, although simple, engage various cognitive processes such as memory, attention, problem-solving, and logical thinking. The study employed a pre-and post-intervention design to assess the cognitive improvements in participants who engaged in structured game-based therapy over several weeks. Before the intervention, cognitive function was evaluated using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), showing signs of cognitive impairment in most participants; after the therapy sessions, which included regular play of Snakes and Ladders and crossword puzzles, a significant improvement was observed in participants' cognitive abilities, with average MoCA scores rising from 18 to 22. This improvement reflected better short-term memory, concentration, and problem-solving skills. The games also fostered increased social interaction and collaboration among participants, contributing to emotional well-being and reducing anxiety. The results highlighted decreased stress and anxiety, as participants reported feeling more relaxed and engaged after several sessions. The study concludes that cognitive therapy based on simple, accessible games like Snakes and Ladders and crossword puzzles can effectively enhance cognitive function, reduce anxiety, and improve social skills in people with mental disorders. The findings suggest that such game-based therapy could be a valuable, low-cost alternative to traditional cognitive remediation therapies in community settings.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of short-form video content consumption on adolescents’ cognitive health, particularly focusing on symptoms of brain fog and attention disorders. Conducted through a quantitative survey involving adolescents aged 16 to 21, the research measured daily usage of TikTok and Instagram Reels and its correlation with self-reported cognitive symptoms. The results indicate a strong positive association between excessive use of these platforms and the prevalence of focus problems and mental fatigue. Interestingly, adolescents with moderate usage reported fewer cognitive complaints, suggesting that limited exposure may offer a form of cognitive stimulation. These findings support existing concerns about digital media overload while also proposing a new perspective through the "Optimal Digital Stimulation" theory. The study highlights the importance of digital balance and offers implications for educational interventions and policy development aimed at promoting healthy media consumption among youth.

Abstract

A sudden stop in heart function is called cardiac arrest, and if CPR is not administered right away, it can be life-threatening. CPR training and education are required to boost both the quantity and quality of bystander CPR. In this study, the impact of CPR training on the CPR skills of Lubuklinggau City scout members will be examined. A quasi-experimental design with a pre- and post-test methodology was implemented in this study. A CPR mannequin was utilized as a simulation instrument in CPR training. A purposive sampling technique was used to collect samples from seventy-two scout members. The PPNI CPR SOP checklist used to assess the subject's CPR performance. A paired t-test was used to analyze the data, and the results showed that CPR training significantly improved the skills of scout members (t = -49.343, p value = 0.0001). Based on the analysis and discussion results, it can be said that scout members' abilities to perform CPR are positively impacted by CPR training that uses the simulation method.

Abstract

This study compares the effectiveness of foot exercise and laughter therapy in reducing blood glucose levels in older adults with Type II Diabetes Mellitus. The objective is to determine which intervention has a greater impact on lowering blood glucose and promoting overall well-being. An independent samples t-test was conducted to compare the reduction in mean blood glucose levels between two intervention groups: foot exercise and laughter therapy. The assumption of equal variances was met based on the results of Levene’s test (p > 0.05). Both interventions resulted in significant reductions in blood glucose levels, but laughter therapy showed a slightly greater reduction. Foot exercise improved insulin sensitivity and glucose uptake, but may not be suitable for individuals with mobility issues. In contrast, laughter therapy not only reduced blood glucose levels but also promoted psychological benefits such as improved mood and reduced anxiety, which are crucial for diabetes management. The accessibility and lower physical demands of laughter therapy make it an attractive option for older adults, especially those with physical limitations. The findings suggest that laughter therapy offers a more holistic approach to diabetes management by addressing both physical and emotional well-being. This study highlights the potential of laughter therapy as a sustainable, low-impact intervention for improving health outcomes in older adults with Type II Diabetes Mellitus.

Abstract

This qualitative study examines the demographic factors influencing the social welfare of stranded individuals handled by the Social Services Agency of South Sumatra Province. Data was collected through a triangulation of observation, interview, and documentation methods. The research findings indicate that the primary causes of being stranded are economic, manifesting in three main ways: running out of travel funds, being victims of pickpocketing, and employment fraud. It was found that the majority of stranded individuals originate from provinces with high unemployment and poverty rates, such as Central Java, East Java, West Java, and North Sumatra. Age, gender, education level, and informal employment status were identified as significant demographic variables that increase an individual's vulnerability. Their social welfare condition is generally low, characterized by a deficit in meeting basic needs, physical health problems, psychological distress in the form of stigma and anxiety, and minimal social integration. The Social Services Agency plays a crucial role in providing emergency assistance and facilitating repatriation, but these curative measures have not fully addressed the root problems. This phenomenon confirms that being stranded is a multidimensional issue requiring a preventive and collaborative approach.

Abstract

Spiritual care is a vital component of holistic nursing, particularly for patients with chronic and life-limiting illnesses. It addresses existential suffering and supports emotional, psychological, and spiritual well-being. This review aims to identify and synthesize evidence-based standards for spiritual nursing care in patients with chronic illnesses, particularly those in palliative care settings. A comprehensive literature review was conducted using six databases PubMed, ProQuest, DOAJ, ScienceDirect, Garuda, and Google Scholar focusing on peer-reviewed articles published between 2018 and 2024. Articles were selected based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure relevance and quality. The findings highlight several key standards in spiritual nursing care: acknowledging and respecting patients' spiritual beliefs, offering compassionate emotional and psychological support, and fostering meaning and hope at the end of life. The literature consistently emphasizes the need for an individualized, culturally sensitive, and holistic approach. Integrating spiritual care into routine palliative nursing practice has been shown to improve coping, reduce distress, and enhance overall quality of life for chronically ill patients. Addressing the spiritual needs of patients with chronic illness is essential for delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care. Developing evidence-based spiritual care standards can enhance the effectiveness of palliative care and support patients in achieving peace, meaning, and well-being.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the experiences of adult women with a history of childhood trauma in undergoing Islamic forgiveness therapy within the Ramadhan Healing Journey program, and to understand its contribution to enhancing psychological well-being. The research employed a qualitative case study method involving three participants who had experienced emotional neglect, verbal abuse, and family conflict. The intervention included psychoeducation, loving-kindness meditation, reflective journaling, and daily prayers over a 21-day period. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and analysis of reflective journals throughout the therapy period. To support the qualitative findings, pre-test and post-test measurements were also conducted using a psychological well-being scale to assess changes before and after the program. The therapy program consisted of forgiveness-themed journaling, loving-kindness meditation, and forgiveness-focused prayers. The results showed that participants experienced positive changes, including a reduction in negative emotions such as anger, resentment, and anxiety, as well as improvements in self-acceptance, interpersonal relationships, and sense of life purpose. Pre- and post-test data also indicated an increase in psychological well-being scores, reinforcing the qualitative findings. This study highlights the potential of Islamic forgiveness therapy as an effective psychospiritual approach for supporting the healing process of women with childhood trauma. It contributes to the development of psychospiritual trauma therapy that is culturally and religiously relevant for Muslim communities.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of guidance and counseling teachers in providing psychological assistance to students who show a desire to drop out of school at SMP Negeri 2 Lempuing Jaya. This study uses a qualitative approach with an exploratory case study design on one subject of grade IX students. Interventions are carried out by applying Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in stages, starting from psychological assessments, group counseling, to individual counseling sessions using cognitive restructuring techniques and CBT worksheets. The results showed a change in the subjects' mindset and perception of education, but economic pressure remains the main obstacle to the sustainability of behavior change. These findings confirm the importance of integrating psychological interventions with family- and economic-based systemic support to prevent sustainable dropouts.
