Abstract

This systematic review aims to synthesize and critically appraise the evidence on the association between early initiation of breastfeeding (EIBF) and exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) with the incidence of stunting in children under five years of age. A comprehensive search was conducted through Semantic Scholar and related databases up to April 2024. Selection, data extraction, and methodological quality assessment followed PRISMA guidelines and were conducted independently by two reviewers. Results were synthesized narratively due to heterogeneity of included studies. Of 1,500 articles identified, 1,050 were screened after removal of duplicates. After screening titles and abstracts, 80 full-text articles were assessed, and 40 studies were included in the synthesis. Most studies showed a significant protective effect of both EIBF and EBF against stunting, with odds ratios for stunting in non-EBF children ranging from 4.08 to 21.0. Delayed EIBF increased the risk of stunting with some studies reporting odds ratios up to 9.14. Meta-analyses confirmed this protective association with pooled adjusted odds ratios for EBF around 0.73. Early initiation and exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months are proven, low-cost, and scalable interventions for reducing stunting risk in children under five.

Abstract

The effect of green betel leaf decoction in treating vaginal discharge in all students experiencing vaginal discharge at STIKes Al-Ma'arif Baturaja in 2023. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of green betel leaf decoction in treating vaginal discharge in all students experiencing vaginal discharge at STIKes Al-Ma'arif Baturaja in 2023. This research method used a pretest-posttest on 45 respondents experiencing vaginal discharge. After 7 days of observation, the symptoms of vaginal discharge decreased or not for the intervention group. The statistical test used was non-parametric (Wilcoxon test). The significance value of the relationship between maternal age (LBW) was p-value = 0.001 (a <0.005), while the significance value of the relationship between parity and LBW was p-value = 0.001 (a <0.005). Furthermore, there was a relationship between maternal age, and there was no relationship between maternal parity and the incidence of low birth weight babies (LBW).

Abstract

Buah kupa (Syzygium polysphalum) merupakan tanaman dalam genus Syzygium, umumnya digunakan sebagai analgesik, antijamur, antiinflamasi, dan antipiretik. Zat metabolit sekunder seperti alkaloid, flavonoid, dan tanin ditemukan dalam buah kupa, di mana molekul flavonoid ini memiliki sifat antimikroba. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menentukan efikasi antibakteri ekstrak buah kupa terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes. Ekstrak buah kupa diperiksa sifat antibakterinya terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes pada berbagai konsentrasi ekstrak, yaitu 2,5%, 5%, dan 7,5%. Cakram kertas dan metode difusi digunakan dalam uji aktivitas antibakteri. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak buah kupa menunjukkan aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes. 6,5% menghambat bakteri dengan diameter zona hambat 10,8 mm dengan kategori sedang, 7,5% menghambat bakteri dengan diameter zona hambat 11,9 mm dengan kategori sedang, dan 2,5% menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri sebesar 9,46 mm dengan kategori lemah. Pada konsentrasi 7,5%, bahan aktif dalam ekstrak buah kupa lebih poten dibandingkan 2,5% dan 5%, sehingga menjadikannya konsentrasi optimal untuk menghentikan pembentukan bakteri Propionibacterium acnes.

Abstract

Pelayanan informasi obat sangat diperlukan untuk mendapatkan informasi obat secara tepat karena jika seseorang menggunakan obat secara tidak tepat akan mengakibatkan ketidakpatuhan pasien untuk meminum obat dan dapat menyebabkan resisten. Oleh karena itu, pada tinjauan literatur ini dilakukan evaluasi tingkat pemahaman pasien tentang aturan pakai obat, khasiat obat, cara pakai obat, waktu minum obat, dan perhatian minum obat yang telah di berikan. Tujuan dilakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui pemahaman dalam penggunaan antibiotik dan untuk mengetahui faktor penyebab ketidakpatuhan terhadap penggunaan antibiotik. Literature Review merupakan metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan pemilihan topik secara komprehensif, dengan sumber menggunakan jurnal penelitian. Hasil review bahwa angka kepatuhan dalam penggunaan obat antibiotik masih sangat kecil. Perlu dilakukan pemberian informasi dan edukasi di setiap obat yang diberikan supaya resisten terhadap obat antibiotik tidak menjadi masalah dalam pemberian obat antibiotik. Perlu peran apoteker dan tenaga farmasi dalam memberikan informasi, konseling dan monitoring diperlukan selama mengkonsumsi antibiotik karena dapat meningkatkan nilai kepatuhan dalam penggunaan obat antibiotik.
