Abstract

Cockroaches are considered vectors that can transmit diseases and pose a health threat in industrial environments. Cockroaches can transfer several patogenic microorganisms, such as Streptococcus and Salmonella. PT X is an industry that has not yet implemented vector control for disease carriers. The average population index measurement of Periplaneta americana cockroaches was 2.17, which does not meet the quality standards set by PMK No 70 of 2016. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different bait types on the Attractif Bait for Cockroach Trap tool on the number of cockroaches trapped at PT X. The population in this study included all cockroaches in the Paper Machine processing area, and the sample consisted of some of the cockroaches trapped using the Attractif Bait for Cockroach Trap tool. The sampling technique used was incidental sampling. This experimental study employed a posttest-only design without a control group. The sample in this study comprised 31 cockroach specimens trapped in the Paper Machine area of PT X. Data analysis using the One Way Anova test indicated that the type of bait used in the Attractif Bait for Cockroach Trap tool significantly affected the number of cockroaches trapped at PT X, with a significance value of 0.016 or <0.05. The results showed that the number of cockroaches trapped using peanut butter bait was 18 (58%), honey bait was 9 (29%), and biscuit powder bait was 4 (13%). Future researchers are advised to develop more diverse types of bait.

Abstract

Rats become pests that cause losses. PT. X has a kitchen to serve lunch to all employees and in the kitchen there are rats with a trap success rate of 4% and losses are experienced such as some food stocks in the kitchen being bitten by rats so that the food stocks cannot be reused. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the modified Sherman trap model of snap trap and single live trap on the number of rats trapped in the PT.X kitchen. This type of research is an experimental research with a post-test only research design. The population of all rats in the kitchen area of PT.X. The treatment given was 2 treatments, namely single live trap treatment and Sherman snap trap treatment. The data collection technique counted the number of rats trapped, the number of traps set is three Sherman snap traps and three single live traps set for 5 days with shrimp paste bait. The number of rats caught in the Sherman snap trap was 4 with a catch rate of 6%, in the single live trap there were no rats caught. The results of the study after analysis using the Mann-Whitney test showed that the P-value was 0.014 < α (0.05), meaning that there was a significant difference between the two groups of data. The implication of this research is that the kitchen manager of PT. X can use a Sherman snap trap for trapping activities in the kitchen. The trapping activities are carried out with suggestions to vary the layout of the trap placement, replacement of bait that is more varied according to the type of food preferred by the rats, namely tubers such as cassava, sweet potatoes or can use bait of corn and grilled coconut.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a type of disease caused by the dengue virus, and its spread is made easier by an intermediary vector, namely the Aedes aegypti mosquito. There are several factors that can influence the distribution and increase in dengue cases in an area, including human factors (host), vector (mosquito), dengue virus (agent) and environmental factors (environment). The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between the physical condition of the house and behavior with the incidence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in the Working Area of the Social Health Center, Sukarami District, Palembang City in 2024. This research is an analytical survey with a case control approach. This study used a case and control ratio of 1:2, with a total of 27 cases and 54 controls, so the total sample in this study was 81 samples. The case and control sampling technique is purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The results of this study show that there is no relationship between the physical condition of the house and the p-value (p=0.542), there is no relationship between knowledge and the p-value (p=1.000), there is a relationship between attitudes and the p-value (p=0.007), there is a relationship action with a p-value (p=0.022), there is a relationship between the presence of larvae with a p-value (p=0.045) with the incidence of dengue fever in the Sukarami District Social Health Center Working Area. The conclusion of this research is that there is a significant relationship between attitudes, actions and the presence of larvae, while there is no significant relationship between the physical condition of the house and knowledge and the incidence of dengue fever in the Sukarami District Social Health Center Work Area. To the community health center officers and the community, to further increase dengue prevention activities systematically in order to reduce the number of dengue fever incidents in the work area of the Social Health Center.

Abstract

Waste management activities cannot be separated from the role of the Community Empowerment Institution. At this point in time, the Community Empowerment Institution's attempts to control waste are still on the lower end of the spectrum. Infrastructure that is not appropriate is a significant obstacle to effective waste management. When it comes to the collection and classification of household waste, the overriding objective of our research is to determine whether or not the Local Waste Management (LPM) of Rawa Makmur Village in Bengkulu City conforms with Regional Regulation No. 2 of 2011. In this particular study, a qualitative research methodology was used. The findings are provided in their entirety as descriptive data, which was compiled via in-depth interviews with several reputable sources. For the purpose of this investigation, a total of eight individuals were questioned; four of the primary informants for this research were members of Community Empowerment Institutions, while four more individuals functioned as supporting informants. Based on the findings, it was determined that the informants had effectively completed the mission assigned to them by the Community Empowerment Institution, which was to collect garbage from households. However, the Community Empowerment Institution is not operating as efficiently as it might be due to the fact that the Environmental Service still has certain weaknesses in terms of its infrastructure and facilities. It is recommended that the leadership of the Environmental Service evaluate and improve facility infrastructure for waste collection and sorting so that Community Empowerment Institution can carry out its duties and roles according to Regional Regulation No. 2 of 2011 without any obstacles. Abstract

Nurses as health workers play a role in providing nursing services to patients for 24 hours continuously in hospitals. Nurses are also workers who receive higher potential hazards than other health workers in the hospital. This literature review aims to identify factors that influence the implementation of occupational safety and health (SMK3) in nurses in hospitals. The writing of this article uses the literature review method by collecting several articles from the Google Scholar database in the period 2021-2024. From the results of the review of five literatures, it shows that there are several factors that influence the application of SMK3 to nurses in hospitals, namely knowledge, attitudes, actions, education levels, and nurses' work adaptability to the work environment. Whether or not the application of SMK3 for nurses in hospitals depends on internal factors in the form of nurses' behavior and external factors in the form of nurses' education level and work environment.

Abstract

A black container (bucket) filled with water and added with catfish feed attractant (PIL) emits an odor approximately two days later that can attract Aedes aegypti mosquitoes to lay eggs. The PIL-filled container can indirectly reduce the population of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. This mosquito is a vector of dengue fever (DF), which is a public concern. The aim of the study is to reduce the population of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes using PIL at concentrations of 0.06, 0.09, 0.12, 0.16, and 0.20 grams. The type of research used is a quasi-experiment, with a posttest-only control design and six treatments. The materials and tools used in this study include containers, clean water, and the addition of PIL. The population consists of 20 community health centers in Bengkulu City, with a sample of 4 community health centers selected through purposive sampling as locations for placing 160 containers. The results showed that the data were not normally distributed (p<0.05), so the Kruskal-Wallis test was used for hypothesis testing. The total number of Aedes aegypti larvae found in the treatment and control containers was 3,735 larvae, with 160 containers serving as breeding sites. The Kruskal-Wallis test results showed a significance value of 0.002 < 0.05, meaning the hypothesis was accepted, indicating a difference in the average between the treatment containers and the control containers. This study was effective in reducing the Aedes aegypti mosquito population in Bengkulu City. Further research is needed with other mosquito trap models.
