Abstract

Soap is a self-care product that plays an important role in maintaining body hygiene. The development of the cosmetic industry encourages innovation in soap formulations, one of which uses natural ingredients such as essential oils. Citronella oil is an agribusiness sector commodity with a good market share and high competitiveness. This study aims to develop a solid soap formulation containing Cymbopogon Nardus L. essential oil, which is known to have antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. Soap was made using a mixture of Virgin Coconut Oil and palm oil, NaOH with the addition of Cymbopogon Nardus L. essential oil and distilled water with varying concentrations. The basic physical and chemical properties of soap, such as organoleptic, pH and foam stability were evaluated with good soap parameters based on SNI 3532:1994. Based on the test results on the four formulas with the three parameters carried out, it can be concluded that the addition of citronella essential oil to the tested formulas strengthens the organoleptic characteristics of good solid soap. All formulas have pH values in the range that are slightly less safe for the skin (pH 10-13) as bath soap with SNI criteria (pH 9-11) and foam stability that tends to decrease during the 28 days of testing and outside the range of solid soap foam stability of 60-70% required by SNI 3532: 1994.

Abstract

The growing recognition of health's significance among the public drives healthcare facilities such as pharmacies, to enhance the quality of their services. Pharmacies are increasingly emphasizing pharmaceutical services that have transitioned from a drug-centric approach to one that prioritizes the patient. This shift aligns with the principle of pharmaceutical care, which focuses on enhancing the quality of life for patients, while also responding to the growing competition in the market and the demands for consumer satisfaction. Educational pharmacies serve a crucial function as a venue for learning and practical experience for future professionals in the pharmaceutical field. This investigation seeks to assess the degree of consumer satisfaction regarding pharmaceutical services at Pharmacy Education X located in Magelang Regency. The study employs a quantitative descriptive methodology utilizing Likert scale measurements. This study employs a cross-sectional design utilizing a questionnaire that encompasses five dimensions: empathy, physical aspects, responsiveness, assurance, and reliability, aimed at assessing consumer satisfaction. The sample included 100 respondents selected through the convenience sampling method. The findings for the empathy dimension were 96.8%, the physical dimension also recorded 96.8%, the responsiveness dimension showed 96.3%, the assurance dimension reached 98.3%, and the reliability dimension was at 97.5%. In summary, there is a high level of satisfaction among consumers regarding the pharmaceutical services provided at Educational Pharmacy X in Magelang Regency, reflected in an impressive average consumer satisfaction percentage of 97.14%.

Abstract

Moringa seed (Moringa oleifera L.) and Chinese betel leaf (Peperomia pellucida L.) extracts obtained using ethanol contain phenolic compounds that function as natural antioxidant compounds. research aimed to quantify the overall phenolic content and assess the antioxidant activity of both extracts using Folin-Ciocalteu and DPPH techniques. The extraction process was performed using the maceration technique with 96% ethanol as the solvent, after which analysis It was performed to determine the overall concentration of phenolic compounds and IC50 a measurement that served as an index of antioxidant power. The findings showed that the extract from Chinese betel leaves had a higher a total phenolic content of 91.02 mg gallic acid equivalents (GAE) was recorded. compared to Moringa seeds which had 54.90 mg GAE/g±0.47. Antioxidant activity testing revealed that the IC50 value of Chinese betel leaf extract reached 3,349 ppm, while moringa seed extract showed an IC50 value of 4,701 ppm. For comparison, vitamin C had a lower IC50 of 1,988 ppm. With IC50 values below 50 ppm, both extracts are categorized as very strong antioxidants.

Abstract

Dry skin is a problem that bothers many people. One of the causes of dry skin is skin dehydration, which can be overcome by using moisturizing cosmetics. Vaseline is a moisturizer commonly used by the public because it does not cause allergies and has good moisturizing capabilities. However, it is derived from non-renewable petroleum, necessitating alternatives. Animal fats can be used as cosmetic moisturizers and are considered safer than chemical substances like zinc oxide. According to BPOM, cosmetic products must pass safety tests such as microbial contamination, heavy metal contamination, and chemical contamination tests. Beef fat contains water and fatty acids that can create a suitable medium for microbial growth. However, temperature and water content affect microbial growth, necessitating further research on the microbiological quality of beef fat using low temperature and double boiling methods. This study aims to determine the microbiological quality of beef fat moisturizer bases using low temperature and double boiling methods through Total Plate Count (TPC) testing. This research is a pre-experimental study with a one-shot case study design. The results show that the TPC values of beef fat using low temperature and double boiling methods are each 1 x 10^4 CFU/g. This indicates that the TPC values of beef fat using low temperature and double boiling methods do not meet BPOM criteria, which is < 500 CFU/g. Abstract

Reproductive health is an important part of life continuity. Moringa oleifera plant is reported to have benefits on growth and reproduction that have been tested on animals, such as steroid alkaloids, alkaloid-pyricine, pyrrolidine, phenolics, steroid glycosides, saponins and triterpenoids. This study aims to demonstrate the pharmacological activity of Moringa oleifera Lam. extract as an antifertility agent in the male and female reproductive systems. This study assessed the phytochemical compounds and antifertility effects of moringa on reproductive parameters in both men and women. This study was conducted through a literature study based on an online database search by combining Boolean search terms (“AND”, “OR”) in the electronic databases PubMed, ScienceDirect and Google Scholar. There were 15 articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study. Several phytochemical compounds such as tannins, alkaloids, phenols, flavonoids, saponins and anthraquinones were reported in extracts of both flowers, stems, seeds and leaves of the moringa plant. The effects of these compounds have the potential to improve sperm quality, increase testosterone production in men, and affect hormone levels and estrus cycles in female reproduction. These findings support the role of Moringa oleifera as an antifertility agent in various reproductive parameters in both men and women.
