Abstract

This study examines the role of digitalization in enhancing the competitiveness of traditional cakes produced by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) owned and managed by Malay Jambi women, as part of the creative economy. The objective is to examine how social media platforms and user-friendly design tools contribute to enhancing product innovation, marketing, and business sustainability. Employing a Design-Based Research (DBR) approach with mixed methods, the study involved 30 female entrepreneurs engaged in traditional cake businesses in Jambi. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and surveys, followed by quantitative analysis using t-tests. The results indicate that digitalization, particularly the use of Instagram for promotion and Canva for packaging design, significantly improves product visibility, consumer appeal, and market access. Innovations in packaging and presentation strengthen customer engagement and increase sales. The findings conclude that digital-based product development empowers women entrepreneurs to overcome market limitations and contributes to local economic resilience. This research contributes by providing a new empirical model for integrating cultural heritage with digital transformation. Theoretically, the study expands our understanding of how digitalization can function not only as a business strategy but also as a catalyst for women's empowerment and the development of a sustainable creative economy within local socio-cultural contexts.

Abstract

The development of halal tourism is a strategic effort to enhance regional competitiveness and achieve Indonesia’s vision of becoming a global halal hub. This community service project was conducted at Wisata Halal Jabal Nur, South Kaliwungu, Kendal, focusing on empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to obtain halal certification and enhance digital-based promotion. The program provided training, technical assistance, and mentoring to help MSMEs comply with halal standards and enhance their business management. The methods included socialization, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), digital financial recording workshops, halal certification facilitation, and the development of official websites and social media platforms for tourism promotion. Collaboration among lecturers, students, MSMEs, tourism managers, and local governments has built a sustainable ecosystem for the growth of halal tourism. The results show that halal certification increases MSME awareness of halal integrity, while digital promotion effectively expands market reach and reinforces Jabal Nur’s image as a religious and inclusive tourism destination. This integrative model enhances consumer trust and strengthens the local economy. Moreover, the study contributes to global science by presenting an evidence-based framework that links digital transformation, community empowerment, and Islamic economic principles, providing new insights for scholars and policymakers in advancing sustainable and globally competitive halal tourism development.

Abstract

This research explores how the Tengger indigenous community in Indonesia practices a transformative model of ecological citizenship, rooted in the local cosmology of Tri Hita Karana, which integrates harmony between humans, nature, and God. In response to the growing global attention to community-based environmental governance, this study aims to analyse how spiritual and cultural practices among the Tengger people shape sustainable ecological behaviour and collective resource management. Using a participatory ethnographic approach, the research engaged seven key informants, including dukun adat (traditional leaders), youth, women's groups, and local government representatives. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis to capture the community's everyday ecological practices and moral reasoning. The findings reveal that rituals such as Yadnya Kasada, along with collective practices like forest protection and water management, are legitimized through sacred values and customary norms that sustain environmental stewardship. Moreover, the increasing participation of youth and women in ecological education and sustainable livelihood programs signifies a shift towards inclusive and participatory governance. This study contributes to the theoretical development of indigenous-based ecological citizenship by conceptualizing it as a vernacular, spiritually grounded, and participatory model of environmental governance that bridges local cosmology with global sustainability frameworks.

Abstract

Suci Village, located in the Panti District of Jember Regency, boasts an abundance of coffee potential that has largely been underutilized for commercial purposes. To increase its added value and empower the local community, the Community Partnership Program (PKM) introduced a training program for producing coffee-based aromatherapy candles at Sekolah Alam Nusantara. The program employed a participatory approach, involving 20 participants, primarily homemakers, and consisted of three stages: material delivery, hands-on practice, and evaluation. Pre- and post-tests were used to evaluate knowledge improvement. The results demonstrated a substantial increase in community knowledge and skills. Before the training, only 25% of the participants were familiar with aromatherapy candles. After the program, however, all of the participants understood their benefits and basic production techniques. The candles produced exhibited a distinctive coffee aroma, functional value, and potential to become environmentally friendly, flagship products of Suci Village. This initiative strengthened the community's capacity to utilize natural resources, encouraged creative entrepreneurship, and supported circular economy practices. This study contributes to the literature on community empowerment by demonstrating how local commodities, such as coffee, can be transformed into valuable products. Furthermore, the study provides a replicable model for sustainable rural development through skill-based training and product innovation.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically synthesize and evaluate empirical evidence concerning how soft skills and teaching factory (TEFA) programs jointly influence students’ work readiness across diverse educational settings. Employing a comprehensive meta-analysis design, this research integrates quantitative results from prior empirical studies to produce a more robust and generalizable estimation of the combined effect. The data used in this study were derived from 31 independent studies published between 2020 and 2025. The dataset consists of 23 studies focusing on soft skills and 8 studies on teaching factory programs. All data were analyzed using JASP version 0.19.3, employing both classic meta-analysis and random-effects models to account for heterogeneity across samples. The findings reveal a significant positive correlation between soft skills (r = 0.519) and teaching factory (r = 0.693) with work readiness (p 0.01). The results confirm that both factors strongly enhance employability and readiness to work in industrial contexts. Statistical confidence intervals and forest plots generated in JASP strengthen the empirical robustness of these conclusions. This meta-analysis makes a novel contribution by being the first to quantitatively evaluate the combined impact of soft skills and teaching factory programs on graduates’ employability in Indonesia. The evidence highlights the strategic importance of embedding these two elements into vocational and higher education curricula to strengthen graduates’ employability profiles and ensure their alignment with industry expectations.

Abstract

The rapid development of science and technology demands a transformation in mathematics education to develop higher-order thinking skills. This study investigates the effectiveness of deep learning approaches in improving mathematical flexibility (MF) and mathematics self-regulated learning (MSRL) among grade 8 junior high school students in Indonesia. Employing a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design, this quasi-experimental study involved 99 students (68 experimental, 31 control) who completed pre-tests and post-tests measuring MF and MSRL. Quantitative data were analyzed using ANCOVA, t-tests, and regression analysis, followed by qualitative interviews and classroom observation to explain the findings. Results revealed that the deep learning approach significantly improved students' mathematical flexibility (t = 14.92, p 0.05), with an average gain of 4.27 points, but did not significantly improve MSRL (p = 0.165). Regression analysis demonstrated a significant positive relationship between MSRL and MF (r = 0.524, p 0.001), with MSRL accounting for 27.2% of the variance in mathematical flexibility. This study contributes to mathematics education research by providing empirical evidence that deep learning approaches effectively develop mathematical flexibility while highlighting the need for multifactorial interventions targeting affective and metacognitive dimensions to improve self-regulated learning.

Abstract

The implementation of tolerance character education at SD Eka Tjipta 01 Telen faces challenges, ranging from educators' limited understanding of the multicultural approach to the suboptimal integration of diversity values in daily learning. This study aims to describe the process of implementing multicultural education to strengthen elementary school students' tolerance and to identify strategies, practices, and obstacles encountered in schools with heterogeneous socio-cultural backgrounds. The research used a descriptive qualitative case study with participatory observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and field notes, involving teachers, students, and parents as primary informants. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that tolerance values are instilled through thematic learning, habitual mutual respect, and open communication among teachers, students, and parents, helping to create an inclusive learning atmosphere and supporting early internalization of tolerance. However, limited multicultural resources and minimal teacher training remain challenges. This research contributes to the discourse on multicultural education by providing empirical evidence for developing value-based education models adaptive to diversity and local needs, emphasizing the critical role of teachers, schools, and families in shaping tolerant students.

Abstract

This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the Constitutional Court's role in institutionalizing a centralized governance model for the National Board of Zakat (BAZNAS) and its systemic implications for Indonesia's economic framework from a Shariah economics perspective. By synthesizing extant literature, it elucidates the legal, operational, and philosophical dynamics underpinning BAZNAS’s evolving mandate. Conducted as a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) in accordance with the PRISMA protocol, systematic searches across Scopus and the Watase Uake System identified 95 articles for in-depth thematic analysis. The findings reveal that the centralization of BAZNAS, legitimized by the Constitutional Court’s ruling, establishes a fundamental tension between national administrative efficiency and local philanthropic autonomy. The analysis confirms BAZNAS’s strategic role not only in zakat distribution but also in advancing national objectives of sustainable development and financial inclusion. However, significant governance challenges, particularly regarding transparency and accountability, persistently surface. The research makes a threefold contribution: First, it identifies a critical methodological gap, demonstrating that dominant quantitative approaches have insufficiently captured the qualitative and contextual dynamics behind operational shortcomings. Second, it surfaces underexplored thematic frontiers, notably those of digitalization, technological integration, and BAZNAS’s potential role in global challenges such as climate change. Third, it proposes a structured agenda for future inquiry and practice. The conclusions emphasize the necessity for methodological diversification, comparative international analysis, and deeper investigation into the distributive impacts of centralization and the transformative potential of technology. Practical implications focus on strengthening governance through mechanisms such as blockchain, fostering inter-institutional collaboration, and advocating for more integrative zakat-sector policies. Future research should prioritize rigorous qualitative studies, comparative models, and examinations of BAZNAS’s role in emerging areas such as green finance and the digitalization of Islamic social finance.

Abstract

Teachers in several regions have increasingly faced legal charges for administering disciplinary actions that were intended as educational corrections for students. This situation highlights the need for clear legal protection to safeguard teachers and other educational personnel as they perform their professional duties. The objective of this study is to examine the legal protections available to teachers and identify preventive measures to minimize disciplinary violations in public elementary school clusters in Clering. The study employs an empirical juridical methodology, combining secondary data as the theoretical foundation with primary data obtained from field observations, interviews, and community studies to evaluate the effectiveness of existing government regulations. The results indicate that legal protections for teachers in disciplinary cases are diverse and vary by jurisdiction, aiming to balance students' rights with the need to maintain order and discipline in schools. The study concludes that these protections promote fairness, prevent unjust criminalization of teachers, and strengthen professional autonomy. This research contributes to legal science by providing empirical evidence on how teacher protection policies operate in practice within Indonesia's educational context.
